Im wondering how many of their employees just sit at work, looking at this thread..
Quoted from TreyBo69:I wonder how many found this thread
Quoted from okgrak:This is from a Deeproot tech employee on linkedin.[quoted image]
Wish you'd remove that. Don't want that innocent person potentially running afoul of an angry Robert
Quoted from valgalder:I mean, this was from nearly a year ago.. jesus:

Edit: forgot this:[quoted image]
Joke is on this employee - it took a year, not "three months tops" for them to go tits up!
He's got egg on his face for sure!
Quoted from trueno92:Im wondering how many of their employees just sit at work, looking at this thread..
I think they are at home wondering whether they're going to get paid ever.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Joke is on this employee - it took a year, not "three months tops" for them to go tits up!

I am surprised that any of his employees are still with Deeproot. If I ever had to furlough people from my company my assumption would be they would be unlikely to continue to work for me. In this job market one would assume most could land other jobs at likely higher pay in a more stable work environment. Is there some reality distortion field he has cast on them to make any believe this is a way for a company to treat and keep employees ?
Edit: No animals pics unfortunately, my wife won’t let me have any.

I love my dogs, but… 50 pinball machines seems like a fair trade off.
Quoted from Greaseman:These are 2 of our guinea pigs, Hope and Izzy. They aren't coming out from this box until Deeproot ships a functioning pinball machine. Let's wish them luck living together in that box.[quoted image]
Edwin smiles from above on your amazing rodents!
Quoted from Mudflaps:I have no skin in this game, but I present Ozzy Paws-bourne, Prince of Barkness. He came back from the vet and got a cat hug from Loki.
Neither of them like Deeproot.[quoted image]
“Prince of Barkness” must be the most awesome name I’ve ever heard.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:What were we taking about again?

Octo trade secret finally revealed

This Rorschach rabbit LOOKS murderous !
You know, believe it or not, I do have some empathy for John.
He didn't start with bad intentions but very early on his expenditures were outstripping his ability.
There was a point (probably in 2015) where he should have packed it up but kept going. Maybe to save ego, save his house, save his marriage?
Call it a "Walter White" moment - where he has to double down and enter into scam territory because his actions and ego have left that as the only recourse.
All vestige of talent is gone. All we see now is a former star who is trying to fool investors one after the other with blinking boxes of lights as he limps towards turning 64 years old.
So what’s the name of the next Ponzi Pinball company J-Pop is working on? If this is a Saga, then we have at least one more in the works
Quoted from benheck:You know, believe it or not, I do have some empathy for John.
Narrator: We do not believe it.

Whatever it is, they are honor bound to make finishing RAZA, magic girl, and Alice in wonderland their top priorities.
I can't keep up with this thread. Was anything officially stated by deeproot? All I see are pet pictures and the usual bs.
Quoted from seenev:Was anything officially stated by deeproot?
no, just lots of speculation after the social media stuff happened. Nothing official.
Quoted from blueberryjohnson:Whatever it is, they are honor bound to make finishing RAZA, magic girl, and Alice in wonderland their top priorities.
Alice in Wonderland is still a great public domain theme. Wouldn’t sell next to Led Zeppelin, GnR, Star Wars, Marvel, or [popular show on Disney/Netflix/HBO]… but it’d do better than some of his other ideas.

Now if you came here and pins were shipping, octo mfg was real, and playfields were being hit with sledgehammers, that would be shocking. Right?

And the best part is any company can make an AIW pin without having to involved Jpop!
Daily reminder that Deeproot spent more buying out Zidware than Stern did on Ritchie Star Wars license.

Having been a fan of both you and John back in the day I vividly remember getting all wide-eyed when I saw you do that random livestream together years ago. I thought, “This is going to be big!” But from what I remember John was just shuffling around the room picking things up and putting them down someplace else. Not sure if anything was accomplished that day.

red flag - a sign or warning of any impending danger, disaster or doom.
Recognizing red flags isn’t always the problem. More often, the problem is ignoring them.
What you call BS, the rest of us look at as more compounding evidence this is not going to end well.
Quoted from Rascal_H:Having been a fan of both you and John back in the day I vividly remember getting all wide-eyed when I saw you do that random livestream together years ago. I remember those streams too.. One was literally John flipping through one of those pinball books looking for ideas. You can just see the look on Ben be like "John, are we going to actually build something today or just ponder possibilities?"
Quoted from toyotaboy:here's a classic moment someone saved from a stream
Man, I watched all the “Ben Heck Show” content I could find back during his element 14 tenure, way before I got into pinball. I remember finding the videos related to this project, and even then, with almost no pinball context, I was confused why the long haired dude and supposed “expert” (JPop, obviously) wasn’t really… doing anything.
Side note, @benheck, love all your stuff. Those videos helped me get excited about engineering again, at a time when I was getting pretty burnt out at work.
Edit: crap, sorry— here’s our other Airedale, Louie. He likes to sleep and hates independently wealthy, self-important sociopaths.

I mean, I understand what they say is happening. I just have no idea why it's happening or how deeprootpinball.com got involved.
And apparently neither do they. Very odd.
Propublica is an outlet that provides a searchable ppp database and whose investigative journalists report on companies that receive PPP funds and how they use them.
I've been to Propublica quite a bit recently, but I hadn't paid much attention to the bottom of each page. Here are screenshots from the page for deeproot tech's 2020 $600k+ loan that was forgiven a few months ago:

Anyway, I thought this was interesting. I also thought it might be interesting to others following or directly involved in the deeproot story, too.
Something else I found interesting is a note on pages from a different ppp site regarding to deeproot tech's second ppp loan, as well as deeproot studio's second:
https://www.federalpay.org/paycheck-protection-program/deeproot-tech-llc-san-antonio-tx

The relevant footnote reads as follows:

Anyway, I just wanted to say I found all of this interesting.

Is this a retirement seminar?
I count no fewer than FIVE different styles of deeproot-branded shirts. Now that's the winning combination of innovation and prioritization a successful startup company requires!
