Quoted from blueberryjohnson:

Any of the names of the purported inventors (other than Pin Daddy Bobby Balls) ring a bell or meaning anything to anyone? Haven't had time yet to give them a google.
[quoted image]
[quoted image]

With light googling, some are still at deeproot and some have left, mostly in 2020. Some other names are common enough I didn't dig deeper than the top linkedin result

Quoted from rosh:

on our machines, code updates get downloaded, copied to a USB stick, you open the coin door, find the USB extension cable, stick the USB stick in. On screen messages tells you if it found game code and when it is done updating. Also automatically dumps logs, audits and current settings to the stick (which it will do whether there was code on the stick or not).
Sorry for taking the thread off topic.

Seems right on topic to me.

Although discussing functional games that show up after people order them is very off topic...

Did you license that USB extension cord from deepRoot?

No? You are now being sued for... let's see, how much do we need to build RAZAs... $800,000 USD.

Quoted from BillySastard:

Did RM ever show the one person pin setup that he talks about in the "Why DR pinball" video above? He says he can't show it because he's going to show it virtually for last year's Expo.

What does your heart tell you?

"manufacturing is underrated, and design is overrated"

Listen to Elon Musk talk about how much effort the put into production/manufacturing vs coming up with the thing in the first place

Quoted from Mr68:

I'm hoping one of you guys can help me find or remember an old podcast or seminar recording of Deeproots. I'm 98% positive it wasn't Kaneda.
On it, RM is talking about how innovative Deeproot as a company is and he likened himself running it as Tom Cruise in the Minority Report.
It was a long time ago and I want to refresh my memory with better clarity on it. It was so outlandish I just remember it being a, holy crap, red flag for me. Even know I'm wondering, did he really say that.
Does anybody remember that besides me?
[quoted image]

Thank you Blueberryjohnson.

I found the Tom Cruise/Minority Report quote and as I had wondered, my memory did play a slight trick on me but not by much. And it was from three years ago so once you hear it I think you'll understand.

https://soundcloud.com/user-465086826/episode-55

Fast forward to the 53:00 minute mark.
Its at the very end of the interview with Robert which is immediately followed by Tony and Dennis giving their thoughts and analysis of the entire interview.

Quoted from yancy:

Found a couple business cards in a box of old crap. Glossy, embossed logo, no expense spared!
[quoted image]

I mean, technically that title is correct, JPop invented a lot of pinball crap. Nowhere does it say “Pinball Manufacturer”.

#21259 1 year ago

The Sledgehammer conversation is also in there. Deep thoughts part 4?

Lord have mercy. Didn't remember that one.

This. Guy. Is. The. Worst.

No way in hell I could have ever stuck around that place like some have. There are things more important than money.

He said he gave the designers 30 days to come up with a minority report prototype.

As one does, of course. That's just good tone setting and leadership. I wonder if I could afford his management and organizational culture consulting rate.

I'm thinking they missed their deadline.

Gonna have to wait for another "update" to find out.

The suspense is killing me....

The more interesting question is if they succeeded back when this was recorded and used it then to discover Robert guilty of pre-crime in 2021 (say for defrauding customers) would Mueller turn himself in? Would jpop narc?

#21266 1 year ago

I honestly don’t care what else happens.

If I ever get to flip an actual Food Truck in any stage of development, I will personally consider the Deep Root project to be an unconditional success.

Pretty sure you would be arrested for flipping a food truck in new York. Plus you would have to be extremely strong to do so. But more feasible than playing a pin from dr

OMG! Everybody owes to themselves to listen to this from 14:00-19:10. In 5 minutes, Robert gives Stern some free manufacturing advice So many trade secrets and patents. RM reminds me of Russel Crowe in Beautiful Mind. He’s probably writing numbers and equations with wax pens on a clear board or window near you. I haven’t laughed out this loudly in a long while.

Anyone else get this:

Everybody out of the pool? Temporarily scrubbing some wish they weren't online things? Something else?

#21272 1 year ago

Seems like they’re scrubbing after people started to dig up old comments

That or the totally-not-made-up legal excuse made them pull it down for reasons that won’t be elaborated on

#21275 1 year ago

But hardly any content is available. I think it might have already been scrubbed a bit.

Edit - I see most info is still available but it falls under the about screen.

Of the website? What's down?

I will be very sad if we've lost forever classics like https://www.facebook.com/deeprootpinball/videos/we-want-to-personally-thank-jody-dankberg-sterns-director-of-marketing-and-licen/1062156757568493/

No kidding. SpaceX went from crashing prototypes to landing SN15 (basically a 15 story building) from 10KM intact in less than ONE year (I watch NasaSpaceFilght.com every day). Now the orbital booster (BN4) is on the pad and Starship (SN20) is soon to be attached for an orbital launch. BN4 and SN20 were pretty much built in less than a month.

And DR can't figure out how to make 120 Razas in 8 months?

Pinball is hard, ROCKETS are harder.

Even still, I suggest you download those boys asap to make sure you can watch them someday if you want to!

I think we should just refer to them as "DEEP SHIT Pinball" and RM as the king of the turds swirling around the bowl.

#21284 1 year ago

Will you just look at the Deeproot?

Hey guys no need to fret!
While we are waiting for RAZA to ship (any day now!), Deeproot will also finance your homebrew project and bring it to market!

Anyone interested in giving your ideas and trust to Deeproot???

Look on my noodlings, ye customers, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal fraud, boundless and talentless
The lone and level lawsuits stretch far away.

But to be fair, deeproot has only spent half as much as SpaceX.

So when Deeproot finally folds, are they blackballed or does everyone follow them to Zidware 3.0?

I hope they can stay alive for another year or more because this is my favorite thread. I feel like we've been through so much together, us deeproot thread guys. We're like a band of brothers.

Quoted from flynnibus:"manufacturing is underrated, and design is overrated"

Not anything new - take a look at how BMW or any of the top car makers or largest manufacturers have built their design shops now, designers and production assembly designers in the same team in the same room. I studied how BMW’s design house “Projeckt Haus” was built and every job (not person) has a specific seat. The approach saved them as an independent cat manufacturer reduced recalls by more than 35% and enabled them in ten years triple the number of car models they can produce.

I can think of two optimisations in design to manufacturing 1: playfields and digital printing (and what a fail that has been) 2: Stern’s move to Spike 2 architecture which initially had some quality issues but I personally think has been a huge success for them. Beyond that - very little.

Regards,
Neil

Standard cabinets with standard PSU / sound / display you could argue is three but that’s so obvious a blind man could see it with his cane.

Don’t fret - if AP keeps cranking out games like Hot Weels they probably won’t be around too long.

wow that is NOT a good sign. Where have I seen this before? Oh right, John Popadiuk deleted his facebook account, then took his zidware website down (only to bring it back up with a single splash page).

From what's been said, the pinball division had been cut off of more money from the deeproot fund. If the PPP money is also gone, and no machines can be built to make any money, can this be the end of the runway?
