Are people really going to this event?

Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Bars are open in Texas. No one is being forced to go to this.

Well said. But going to play a prototype pinball machine in a pandemic isnt really essential or safe.
Full disclosure; i also felt going to protest or attend political rallies in a pandemic was dumb to.
No one should risk there life to play a pinball machine. Especially this deepshit fiasco.
Good luck, stay safe.

But a prototype it is not.

I don't see how it is any more dangerous going to a restaurant, going to work or school, going to the grocery store or home improvement store, or even to get gas for your vehicle. Everywhere you go, you will be touching something that someone else has. Anyhow, there is a Covid thread for this already to make your thoughts known.

This is all nonsense of course.

There are prototypes. There are production games. It’s simple as that. Ask anybody in the industry.

If these are “production games,” then the game is in production. Does anybody actually believe that?

#13255 66 days ago

Streaming will be on twitch.tv/Fliptronic at 6pm tomorrow San Antonio, Texas time.

Even JJP did a small production run before running many of their titles. It is supposed to work out any issues, parts/tools/labor time, at any station to help the line move in an equal pace so one person doesn't get several staked up and then cause a bottleneck to the rest of the production line.

Same thing happens at my work and I'm in the seismic equipment industry.

Yes! 6pm today! I took that from Facebook, which happened to be a post from yesterday. Thanks!

Those were “prototypes.”

If it didn’t roll off a production line, it’s a prototype.

So..... will the leg levelers on the front be extended tomorrow? Curious minds want to know.

It’s a thing.

Prototypes definitely were at the HAAG show 2019, no doubt. Totally agree.

Deep root has their production line going?

I would hope they talk about it since they are supposed to be shipping games to the goodwill people before end of the year.

The difference would be how they were built. If they were still 'hand built' w/o the production processes/steps, then it would be more like a final stage validation prototype. If it were built from a low production run, built using the intended production line processes, then it would be a sample game.

See if the game is labeled NFR or something

#13266 66 days ago

6pm CDT is 5pm CST, which is the time zone currently in effect in San Antonio.

Anyone planning to watch the stream should ask TPN if they really meant CDT (central daylight time).

CST is UTC -6 hours.

Well whatever it is I’m sure they’ll be completely
Forthcoming and transparent about it!

It’s the deep root way!

I don't go "into" restaurants, haven't since the pandemic started. At work I have to wear a mask at all times I'm not sitting in my cubical (and our office hasn't had a single case). Home improvement stores are pretty spread out, it's not hard to keep a 6 foot distance (and again I wear a mask at all times). Every stop I make, even if it's for gas, I immediately grab hand sanitizer out of my door and clean my hands.

I know that might sound like extreme, but I REALLY don't want to get covid. Even if you survive, having a tube shoved down my throat for a week connected to a ventilator doesn't sound like fun. And if I get it, my wife gets it, which means then I have to figure out who to take care of our dogs while we're both in the hospital. And then there's the after effects of covid, everything from lung damage to brain damage. Then we both have to tell our jobs "Welp, looks like we both have to take 2 weeks off while we self isolate, guess someone else has to pickup the slack for us".

I mean I suppose I could be diligent about either not touching my face while I'm playing pinball on location, or cleaning my hands after every ball.. but I know how complacent I can get while playing (especially when you have games at home and don't think twice about playing them normally as if there isn't a pandemic because only you play them).

Anyone in the area want to head over there and take some photos or video? The games are setup already, right?

I have a wedding to attend today in San Antonio. A few hundred people.

Otherwise i'd be there with ice chest out in the parking lot.

Mike is a great guy, helps me with repairs. Been wanting to go to "What's Brewing" for quite some time.

I'm hoping i can swing by late afternoon tomorrow.

Don't need all the Covid commentary. Everybody is capable of making their own decisions as to what is right for them.

Here in San Antonio and Texas everything is open. I'll be in Scottsdale for Thanksgiving and Vegas next weekend!

Lol this surprises absolutely nobody.

Have fun! Be sure to bring your infectious personality to the big Deep Root event.

Congratulations, you are making the best choice for your family.

Wish I was closer, I would attend

Right back at ya
I think your “capable” of finding that thread too to express your ways of dealing with the current pandemic

Quick hold the door before it latches shut on us agai.... oh never mind too late, damn no doorknob on the inside!... you're stuck here in purgatory now with all the rest of us! Lol

Impressive echo down there for sure. You must have been exceptionally forthright!, longest suppression order I got was 7 days ...

Would be funny if it wasn't so sad. This thread though, now that's entertainment!!

#13285 66 days ago

Fliptronic has nothing on theyre schedual today .This is like Joe Pecci changing cars in casino .

#13286 66 days ago
Quoted from benheck:

The real risk is getting infected by John's reality distortion field. It causes normally sane people to think a bunch of artwork and blinking lights is a fully functional pinball machine.

Common' Ben, fess up...
Was that your truck?

#13287 66 days ago

I have been to the location What's brewing. I would not recommend going due to Covid. The games are really tight to each other and the 2 rooms I remember were small, concrete, and had no decorations which turned me off. The people who worked their seemed really nice and I don't mean to put it down but it was so cold and uninviting like a warehouse never mind Covid.

#13288 66 days ago

This is so exciting it is like a child being born... when they are already 5 years old.

Nope, it belongs to Chris.

OMG the stream is real. It was no troll move.

I guess my expectations are really low at this point.

Looks pretty good in all honestly

#13295 66 days ago

The lit side panels look waaay better then the Heighway ones.

Game looks fine, Playfield got reworked and more colorful, GI is lacking imho, can‘t hear the sound sadly. Pinbar is a bit rounded it seems.

Edit 1:
Very Williams vibe imho. I like it so far.

Edit 2:
Software still buggy? 3 reboots necessary in 45 minutes. :-/

Looks pretty darn good....

#13299 66 days ago

Meh. Not for me. Colorful artwork with flashy lights though, but so was Cosmic Carnival. I'm still interested in what the Nordman Whitewater 2 game looks like, but the more I see of the Pinbar the less I like it and I never liked it to begin with.

Is it dimpling yet? The light up cabinet does look good.
