I think it was also said they were doing The Who. I used to love that band before Keith Moon died. Don't listen to them much anymore though but it could be interesting. Hope they include Doctor Jimmy.

The Fire and Brimstone theme must include the Massacre of the Innocents multiball. 6 balls, 1 target.

What other Fire and Brimstone themes would make for great home and location play!

Maybe someone ought to start a dr comedy critique thread in the lounge where we can make fun, poke fun, and stop ruffling people’s feathers, and when people see that thread catch fire and start showing up there, they will start complaining there too...

On Food Truck it would be cool to have a Taco Burrito King mode or have it be the result of completing a mode.

They should give it some sex appeal. Ya know, 80s style! As bad as that decade was, at least there were a few quality movies that were hard to forget.

I’d like to see these in real life, so putting them in the game will hold sentimental value.

Ok, can dr get RAZA out of the way. Food Truck might be a thing. In game buys where you actually grub hub food truck food in real life!

I think we should start a pinball company and produce Food Truck (tm), seems to be some good ideas flowing, and pinball is easy, after all.

'84 Pantera GT-5. What a way to set up a ball breaking 4V Clevo!!... Innovation, can be putting together existing stuff, in a better way!

Is that the last of the interceptors?

I'll assume that's a legit question lol

The "Interceptor" (as opposed to conventional interceptors from Mad Max) was a Production Ford Australian coupe (XA,XB,XC). These were Front engine...

ford-xa-falcon-1896 (resized).jpg

Then "Interceptors" ... there are different forms of Interceptor....

2d503b3eb71b2b6e06e8b8aa7d17c514 (resized).jpg

Then there is the Road Warrior, which is sometimes seen as "The" Interceptor. Yes it is "the last" in the story.

maxresdefault (resized).jpg

Then there is the mid-engine Pantera....

de-tomaso-pantera-gt5-2 (resized).jpg

**No Panteras were used or harmed in the making of this film.

Very cool cars... from the 70s.

#12426 3 months ago
Quoted from o-din:

Very cool cars... from the 70s.

To be fair though that IS a 1984 model, much improved from the 70's Mangusta and earlier 70's Panteras.

They also went to a significantly more potent and better build of 4V cleveland engine, after they split with Ford and set up shop in Oz. Stories of them scrounging for HO crate engines from Ford.

Quoted from razorsedge:

They all but disappeared here after the early 70s when they ran a 351 Cleveland motor. Does that 84 still use a Cleveland?

Edit- I guess you answered that.

Quoted from o-din:

I think I pre-empted your question Lol

Yep, but they put rediculous output firebreathers and EFI etc. in there.

Yes fell off the radar for most Americans I guess.... but well and truly on the radar for Aussie revheads... right up til the 90's they were producing, basically til they ran out of Clevo 351 4V HO crate engines.

*If we read into what might have gone down -> DeTomaso disputed with ford about "supercar" development -> Split ways (like RM should've with J-pop) and went somewhere else -> Ford went on to make the insanely expensive GT40 10 years later -> DeTomaso made affordable kickarse sports cars now (80's).

That also probably answers why DeTomaso went under the radar there... marketing, media, propoganda, control of market. Ford's line was obviously that Detomaso went back to Italy. Y'all think these 80's models were actually made in Italy, No they were made here, costs and regulations being less restrictive. How can you sell GT40's if the market has knowledge or availability of something (subjectively) better?

#12429 3 months ago
Quoted from razorsedge:

Yes fell off the radar for most Americans I guess....

I had two different neighbors that had one in the 70s and they were a beast. In their heyday, you'd see them on the road regularly. Now, you rarely see older cars at all on a regular basis. But they bring them out for shows and special occasions. The good old days, before every other car was a Camry or an Accord.

Now wealthy Americans have GT40's .... while some diehard Aussie revheads have 80's and 90's Panteras. I can buy a nice one for about .... <looks at carsales.com> faaaaaarrk! .... about tripple what you could 3 years ago!! WTF?

They're appreciating like crazy! ... I guess your mob buying them all up from us, you'll probably start seeing some 80's and 90's models there in future.

They are insane, the way they idle and cam over making the whole body move, with the restrained idle of such an overexuberant powerplant in a lightweight kit. It makes you grin and you just can't help it! Lol

Maybe then, RM should just reopen the chance to get a refund for past monies spent. I have no skin in this game but I feel for those who do.
Deeproot may not have pinball machines ready to ship but they seem to have money to burn. Why not offer it again to those who have been burned already.

You realize Deeproot didn’t Take anyone’s money to return it right?

I gotta get me one of those deeprooted money trees. Then I could go into the pinball business myself without having to deal with any investors or their returns.

Just for you o-din...

Ironically still the later part of the story mostly missing... many "falling out with ford" references or outcomes omitted/neglected Lol

"... The Pantera story took an interesting turn in the early 1980s when Australian businessman and race car driver Ken Matthews set-up an assembly operation behind his showroom on Parramatta Road, Haberfield, NSW, landing Panteras in Completely Knocked Down (CKD) form from Italy using 5.8 litre V8s stockpiled after local production ceased. In 1984 Paul Halstead of The Toy Shop fame entered the picture, buying out Matthews and establishing De Tomaso Australia, who continued building GT5s until early 1986, including Dr Geoffrey Edelsten’s infamous pink example – painted to match his helicopter, although cars continued to trickle out of Italy (in revised GT5S form) until 1990."

Worked benefit both ways in business I guess. Italian company, building cars in Australia, meant we could have "imports" without importing? . Supercar scare of the 70's wore off a bit, Aussies were able to buy and register these "death cars" again. Anyway, marketing Detomaso for America, it's a bit like "Italian Label" clothes; Made in Italy (by chinese workers using chinese materials). You do not want to market your Italian sports car as being built in Australia.

Main reason Australia seemed to become so heavily involved, is because of supply, Ford (Australia) was more than happy to supply him with all the crate motors they could get, from the US.

Deeproot created the settlement offer that included incentives to give more money so they would get more deeproot games as part of their settlement offer

I understand the settlement, just pointing out Deeproot was not the one that collected the now lost money. They simply offered to make those buyers whole. Hoping they can succeed to fulfill that gesture.

This is the ultimate thread of FAIL. There isn’t a single thread on Pinside, Tilt Forums, etc that can compare. Deeproot is now synonymous with FAIL. On Monday when JJP launches #6 and Stern is about to release their 4th pin during a pandemic, Deeproot is going to splash with a pin in 2022 like

Yup from this day onwards any insanely massive fail and it has to be massive (TBAG massive) will now been known as a DeepRoot

To be fair homepin did actually make something!

#12442 3 months ago

It's really kinda telling of the whole situation that the Deeproot thread has turned into a 80's car thread, even though the mods don't want it to.

There's just NOTHING to really talk about. How many podcasts have gone over every single facet of this "announcement" line by line just to find the whole thing ridiculous.

Nothing sums it up better than Ron Hallet reading the details out as Hulk Hogan. Now that's some funny shit!

This was my favorite 80’s vehicle... the whole barracks turned out when this puppy showed up on base.
Food Trucks are on topic, right?

Brings back memories. My uncle drove one of those trucks. Always tons of fresh vegetables and fruits at my cousins house, crates full of stuff. I remember my uncle up late at night making sandwiches for the next day. And the piles of coffee grounds that would often be dumped in the backyard, we would dig in it with our Tonka trucks.
