Quoted from o-din:Anybody have any Saab stories they would like to share? My brothers was a real dandy.[quoted image]
No. Except I remember a drunk uncle opining that SABBs suck because a country that can’t defend itself can’t make a good car.

Saabs did suck. They built them but nobody wanted to fix them.
Volvo was quite the opposite. It's kind of a push to see which would last the longest, an 80s Volvo or an 80s Toyota.
Quoted from o-din:Guaranteed to rattle and vibrate apart well before the end of the decade.
[quoted image]
And all of them seemed to have their odometer break right around 80k miles... My cousin had a GTI Rabbit and it was a blast.
Quoted from o-din:Saab stories
I’ve had a couple SAAB 900 .. the most fun car I’ve owned. My last one was a commemorative edition, released as the last run from the original factory in ‘93 before the Ford fiasco.. only 314 made and it had a numbered plaque mounted in front of the shifter, and the absolute best of every component ever put in a factory 900 throughout the years. Making it the highest performing factory 900 ever.. Funny thing though, it was only available in the standard black 3 door Saab body with brown leather seats. Wooden dashboard and the fuel bar and red box turbo from the spg.. total sleeper. traded it for a newer Volvo and have regretted it ever since.
Quoted from BeachPickle:traded it for a newer Volvo and have regretted it ever since.
Yes, by the 90s Saab had gotten better, but Volvo started abandoning their rear drive platform that worked so well and IMO was super reliable and easy to service.
Quoted from BobSacamano:I miss my econobox Dodge Omni.
I'd drive a restored one, but I'm sure they were all scrapped.
[quoted image]
This was my first car. I would take a restored one in a heart beat. Learned how to drive without a passenger side mirror.
Quoted from o-din:Anybody have any Saab stories they would like to share?
Yes. Deeproot failed to make its deadline....again.
I wonder how it feels for the folks at Deeproot when your hyped up launch event (with all these innovations!) is so irrelevant that just 2 weeks later the thread about your company is filled with picutres of cars instead of pictures of your game(s).
Quoted from JohnnyPinball007:I skipped a few pages and now I am confused.
Is Deep Root in the car business now?
Yes, check facebook for latest update. Robert is pivoting to electric cars now that Pinball has been innovated to next level. No more challenges left to conquer he said. And he heard from Elon that it’s easy too. Calling it Deepscoot.
Quoted from waveman:I like the turn this thread has taken. Maybe we can convince RM to start making cars

Other manufacturers have gone different directions.

Sometimes ignotance and arrogance go together. I do not think they care. Innovation from Deeproot was that something old became something new again.
Car discussion is definitelyvmore entertaining.
Quoted from Scandell:I haven’t been keeping up! Are we all just posting photos of lemons?
No.

If you listen to Carys latest Video this event never was intended to be a launch.
They showed them (the 6 folks) stuff including their anticipated launch date.
So it „only“ was intended to be a reveal.
I know it‘s semantics but in some ways it‘s important if you want to hold them true to their word, like games shipping within 2 weeks after „launch“.
Quoted from DS_Nadine:like games shipping within 2 weeks after „launch“.

What a fat loser pos.

Ok folks, this has been fun, but if you want to continue the discussion on vintage cars, please do that in a new thread--not in a topic about deeproot.
Thanks

[quoted image]
Back in the day my friends and I used to do SCCA Autocross racing. It was a lot of fun in our Camaros, 280z's, Firebirds, Omni GLH's, etc. One time they had a road race in a new town called Palm Bay back then there were roads, but no houses yet. The local Ford dealer sent one of their mechanics in a brand new Merkur XR4-TI to show off how fast it was in this type of format. Unfortunately for them, they managed to find the only place on the entire road course that sliding off the road meant going down into a ditch and totaling the car on a cement culvert. That day the Merkur went from laughing stock to epic, never ending laughing stock.

Can we also stop talking about the 80s altogether then? Because, you know, that decade really sucked and has nothing to do with anything now, especially a non-existent pinball machine that we can't buy.
Thank you
Quoted from Scandell:I haven’t been keeping up! Are we all just posting photos of lemons?
We are reliving innovations of the past as we prepare for innovations of the future
Quoted from jellikit:Back to deeproot and designers, is this the last machine released by JPOP? Maybe 2004 or 2005?

No this is...

Clever semantics but it doesn't account for the expired Goodwill Agreement, part two.

I think given the circumstances with Covid they can‘t be held accountable for another delay.
This far down the road I‘d just „pray“ they‘ll ever manage to get a machine out in the wild to claim one at all.
To stay on topic this time, I guess we can start talking more in depth about Deeproot's upcoming title Food Truck. Modes, mods, and of course food!
I'd also like to see pics of some of the most way out food trucks you can find that might possibly even find their way into the game.

Maybe then, RM should just reopen the chance to get a refund for past monies spent. I have no skin in this game but I feel for those who do.
Deeproot may not have pinball machines ready to ship but they seem to have money to burn. Why not offer it again to those who have been burned already.

That would be nice and I think they would do so... if they really still have that amount of money to spare.

What’s this all about? I know there are not a lot to discuss with DR but adding several pages of cars... I’m lost...

As usual, a few whiners probably complained because it was interrupting their wishful thinking and dreams.

What are you doing in here? You’re the super fun guy, one man show ?
You’re not a whiner for sure: you’re the clown here. At least you’re not interested by Deeproot, but only by yourself.
Quoted from Warzard:What are you doing in here?
Waiting on Sledge Hammer! and Food Truck. But I know it's not happening tomorrow no matter how many posts in this thread. And we will know when it does happen. If it does happen.
What's your story?
This thread was garbage before, but the last three pages has convinced me to ignore it until December. Maybe then I'll witness a Christmas miracle.
Quoted from waveman:I like the turn this thread has taken. Maybe we can convince RM to start making cars

Dont be so sure, if history is any indication, they will attempt to reinvent the wheel. Car launches when we are flying hovercraft. Late to market, again!
Quoted from Fifty:This thread was garbage before, but the last three pages has convinced me to ignore it for until December.
But, you just couldn't help but reading them, could you.
Here's a tip. When a topic gets on fire like this one did for a while, skip to the last few posts, and you will know right away if there was any real news over the last couple days. Saves you from wasting your precious time that way.

Two dream themes, in one?
I'd also like to see pics of some of the most way out food trucks you can find that might possibly even find their way into the game. BTTF. Back to the foodtruck
