No worries, you've had greater regrets.
That truck is the only vehicle I ever bought brand new in 1986. Don't really care much for red now. In my line of work, you get to drive every kind of car there is and projects always come your way. Could make a list of over 100 I've owned and sold. Even a K car. One of the best driving was a customer's Buick Special from the mid 60s. I think it was a 1964.
Quoted from Fytr:No speedometer that worked and 4 on the floor! Good times...

You can break into this truck with a straw. But man this thing was the first truck I seen do 200k
Quoted from thechakapakuni:You can break into this truck with a straw. But man this thing was the first truck I seen do 200k
200k ?? ... miles?
That's about 320000 km, most Utes I've owned started life with me at that kind of range Lol
My ex police Commodore (2001) cleared half a million kays a few years ago, still drives and runs great, and still goes like a cut snake!! .
Hit a roo out on the highway last year though, needed a new mudguard and a couple of doors... all good!
They look like this

Great vehicles... this model the pinacle imho ... free of screens and GPS tech.
Still has a direct throttle cable, instead of a servo controlled by a computer ...
Quoted from rai:I don't have my vintage photos but this was my ride from the 80's

Could that be the esteemed, short-lived Fox?
WOW... over 12,000 posts. This thread has taken a new low!
Deep Root just show us a great playing RAZA that can be purchased ASAP!
Thank You!
Quoted from BobSacamano:I miss my econobox Dodge Omni.
I'd drive a restored one, but I'm sure they were all scrapped.
[quoted image]
If you're going to drive an Omni, at least drive a Shelby Omni!
Omni.GLHS (resized).jpgQuoted from Jason_Jehosaphat:Could that be the esteemed, short-lived Fox?
Exactly you have a good eye, $8800 brand new. 4 speed manual, 13 inch wheels, manual steering.

They would , but it doesn’t exist yet . From the sounds of it - it never will unless they con another manufacturer into building it for them .

I still remember reading this a number of years ago...
timeforglhs (resized).jpgAlso touching on innovation a little, while autos is a thing here, the wide high-deck car-trailer trailer I built a couple of decades ago....
I collected my old '79 EFFie on that trailer, shouldn't have sold that weapon, it was Awesome and great for moving multiple pins when raining!... but it drank Truckloads of juice!
Unusual (potentially innovative lol) car trailer trailer has also rescued a couple of busted car trailers, so far.
Here it's dropping off a Dirt Circuit car, 265 Valliant/Chrysler, at an old friends.
Used to pull it with the 1 tonner, another one I should not have sold .... once again drank juice though, like a drunk! Lol
So Deeproot, please don't make things cost a fortune to keep running!!
Quoted from o-din:Cars in the 80s just kept on getting better. Innovation like we had never seen before.
[quoted image]
I drove an 84 Mercury Topaz. I believe the color was Poo Metallic.
Quoted from thechakapakuni:I really hope Deeproot is reading this thread
Yes. All kinds of style and innovation to inspire their next projects.
Little disappointed no announcement of Sledge Hammer! so far. Thought this company was supposed to be all about the 80s.
Just hoping now that Food Truck brings it.
Quoted from o-din:Just hoping now that Food Truck brings it.
Back during the great Shipping Company Wars, we thought of a theme called Fed UP! which was a send up of FedEx and UPS and On the back glass was three delivery trucks racing three abreast with the FedEx truck partially obscure by the UPS truck, which was partly obscured by “Your Truck” which had a Speedy Delivery Logo that started with an “!” that made up the machine title of “Fed UP!” and the goal was to “out deliver” your rivals. So kind of like Rescue 911 where you had to pick up patients and deliver them to the hospital, you had to pick up packages and deliver them. After pickup, certain shots would trigger attacks from your rivals costing you time to deliver, while other shots blocked them.... you get the picture. I think food truck hits the same tone, however, just because they all eat lunch out of a roach coach at DR should not necessarily mean it should be a primary source of good inspiration. We ate out of roach coaches back in the Navy while staying on-shore during off crew, and god damn that food was pricey and tasted like shit back then. Today’s food trucks at least cook it mostly to order instead of just lifting a door and collect the money. But any port in a storm is the sailors motto.
Quoted from Kiwipinhead:Knew I should've bought one with a click click dial .... FML.
[quoted image]
Mine has a fricken dial, but it’s just a button toggler when you spin, it moving to the next LED lit option and so doesn’t work like Odin’s. It has all that “gee-wizardry” of Direct Drive and brushless motor, sensors out the butt and yet what kills it? Unsealed shitty bearings that fail when using the machine “per the instructions” with fabric softener. And be it snake oil or not, it will get women kinda touchy and pissed off when their panties and bras feel like 10 year old sun-dried canvas when washed without it. I can do without it, I did when I was in the Navy, but I broached the subject early on in the marriage and that idea got succinctly shot down 30 years ago.
Quoted from PtownPin:This makes all the sense in the world to a first time buyer....its all about theme, looks, game play, lights, etc.... experienced buyers are the only ones who really care about looking under under the hood let alone the information on the back box
And that’s why our collections are called just that. There’s a MM for most, a Thunderbirds for few, and a Stern for others. (See what I did there?)
Quoted from underlord:And that’s why our collections are called just that. There’s a MM for most, a Thunderbirds for few, and a Stern for others. (See what I did there?)
Of course... but I chose MBrLE instead of MM and my quirky machine is my EM which is a novelty to modern pinheads but a staple for us old sticks in the mud, and my Stern is 13 years old and not a Spike.
Quoted from spfxted:Yes, that's me in my 80's Corvette! Gad!...what happened to that guy??

Dude, could those jeans be any tighter!?!

80 federal model doesn't have that stupid computer they used in Ca. and all federal models thereafter. Pure non digital glory. A guy up the street has one.

Beefcake!!!
Quoted from CLEllison:In the beginning it was about offering great fun for an affordable price. The fact they added the pinbar and if they're using a PC instead of an MCU likely put it up at the same price of a Stern Pro model? Sorry I don't mean to sound negative but I "was" super excited about having a pin company with an affordable product for the average Joe. I fear the "Ferrari at a Kia price" isn't going to happen. Even if the DR model is "feature rich" it still misses the original quote just stated.
Pinball is either for the rich or incredibly dumb. I'm not rich
That’s a matter of terminology. Raspberry Pi is a PC and costs about £30.

I need to go back and read that interview as I swear we must of miss read it. I think it actually said “Kia at a Ferrari price”
Quoted from spfxted:He turned into THIS guy!

You just turned into ‘The Most Interesting Man in the World.’
It’s a natural metamorphoses. I read about folks like you in a science journal.
Just don’t show up at NASA. Next: outer worlds.

That's a late 70's vette. Early 80's had a different front air dam and a rear spoiler, shortly after that the c4 was released in 84
1980 Oldsmobile cutlass, my dad called it the Gutless Cutlass Wonder. He said it was the worst car buying mistake of his life, it literally started falling apart after six months.
This is a tip deeproot, do better than Oldsmobile.

Going back to the topic (deeproot dumpsterfire).
Just watched this ”pinball is easy” expo video:
I feel sorry for some of the team members.
Wow, cringe-o-rama. Who else thinks pinball is easy, Robert asks, and guess who raises their hand?
Everyone must watch at least the first minute!
It is pure video proof of how results should proceed mouth.

Tom Savini is that you?
In an alternate universe, there is a DR who just shut it and just quietly focused their passion into making great pinball until it was ready. We would all wish them the best.
But in this universe...
Fucken hilarious how this has turned into an 80s car thread , at least now it's more entertaining than sad .

I still drive an 80's car...
