Quoted from o-din:

If this 5 year old washer I got off craigslist yesterday for $200 because my 25 year old one finally took a dump and it matched my dryer was one of those fancy models with a touchscreen and all that other unnecessary bs, what are the chances it would even work now?
Or how long before it would take a shit and cost more to repair it than it was worth?[quoted image]

Welcome back! Nice dryer!

I must of missed the announcement for the next update. Could someone please confirm this.

Under the list of 2020 Expo Vendors and Supporters, Deeproot is not among them.

They're going back to the drawing board. This might take a while.

Thanks man! I was super fortunate to find the matching washer on craigslist yesterday. I don't think I've ever had a matched set.

THis seems like a decent idea but why did they scrap it after such a short while?

Spilled drinks?

The fact that it's ugly as sin?

Too many bruised shins?

It was the styling of the early 60s and perhaps the early 60s ended? All I know is it is a better location than on the lock bar in front of the flippers.

Just to let you guys know I have been paying attention to all these modern innovations, I also figured out where I've seen those speaker grills before.

I have one of those fancy LG washers that is 10 years old that went tits up due to the fricking bearings at about 7 years, and the cost to repair was $400 bucks and only one local company actually repaired them because the labor to replace the bearing is a half day job plus because they basically disassemble the whole thing, put in the new bearing and then put it back together again. I know, I sat and watched him do it so I knew how to do it in the future. And yes, EVERY component inside the unit had to be removed, then the washing drum unsprung, motor removed, bearing pulled off, new bearing knocked on, then reassemble the whole thing. Talk about pissed. Then I asked him what causes the bearing to fail? His snide answer was at first off putting, “Using it” , to which I gave him a scowl, then he said “with fabric softener, the wax in it gums up the bearings.”, to which I asked “any way to prevent it?” and he replied “Use dryer sheets”...

#12211 3 years ago

In the beginning it was about offering great fun for an affordable price. The fact they added the pinbar and if they're using a PC instead of an MCU likely put it up at the same price of a Stern Pro model? Sorry I don't mean to sound negative but I "was" super excited about having a pin company with an affordable product for the average Joe. I fear the "Ferrari at a Kia price" isn't going to happen. Even if the DR model is "feature rich" it still misses the original quote just stated.
Pinball is either for the rich or incredibly dumb. I'm not rich

The cabinet seems designed around the RAZA retro theme. Not sure it would fit other themes as well.

Now custom cabinets per theme... Cool idea even though it'd be a manufacturing / maintenance nightmare.

Fabric softener is snake oil anyway. You got $400 worth of advice.

Yeah, I read where it was said RAZA will take you back to the 80s. The era of ugly, boxy cars that most are no longer on the road and nobody wants to be seen in now anyway. Not many 80s appliances left that haven't hit the scrapyard either as people update their outdated kitchens.

To be fair, the rumored game release is supposedly another licensed theme from the 80s.

Just think how innovative DR would be if they went and did one from the 90s.

Yeah, I'd like to see where the inspiration for Food Truck came from. And that might be their most relevant and interesting theme of all the ones listed so far.

Me, you, Ben and Frolic on the next media reveal. What do you think?

The 80's were the high-point of automotive style, innovation, and power.

Huge here too. Successful ones have people that follow them wherever they go. And they have huge meets where many congregate.I considered getting one myself and the thought of it as a pinball theme crossed my mind years ago. Can't see it with a pinbar though. A condiment bar, maybe.

LOL. The high point of shit boxes that leaked out of every gasket and orifice and hit the junkyard when the warrantees expired. And computer carbs that with one glitch made emissions 10X worse than those without. And we don't even have the road salt here that ate them up prior to that.

I did however buy a quality fridge in the mid 80s that lasted until a few years ago. That's my nostalgia from the 80s. A quality fridge that kept my beer and food cold for 25 years.

Boulevard Buick tried to sell the car originally, but the dealer couldn't get anyone to bite on the large markup that accompanied these cars when they hit the market. Rather than take sticker price, the dealer sat on the car and watched it appreciate.

That appears to have paid off. The car currently has a bid of $150,000 with plenty of time left in the auction, which ends on Monday. The bidding could go higher, as an 8-mile GNX sold for $200,000 on BaT last year.

There were a few exceptions. lol.

I used to work at a place that specialized in modifying those. Making them even faster. But for the most part, for every Grand National, there were at least 10 K cars or Chevy Citations. Late 70s saw some real turds, but nothing compared to the front wheel drive revolution in the 80s.

The pinbar would be better used as a chips, dip and hot sauce tray

The front speakers should be replaced with a real beer/alcohol dispenser

Put a mini keg in there with a tube line

Now that would be some innovation!

#12235 3 years ago
Quoted from jellikit:Are you ready to take back those comments yet?

No dude. It may go fast, but it's still a K car. With styling borrowed from 70s water cooled VWs.

I know they still have their fans, I know a guy with several, but the '91 Turbo MR2 I used to own was plenty fast and still looks very stylish today. Way more fun to drive too.

Pure gangster

Also the Ford Taurus pretty much set design trends in the auto industry for the next 10 years. We had the mercury version and it was even more badass. The front had this giant light bar it was sick.

This dude has a fun channel. he does a lot of tv/movie cars. He had an interesting point (I was only like 12 when robocop came out) that when people saw that movie, the ford taurus was still a prototype and when it hit the showroom, everyone was like "oh man, that's the future cop car. I want one!". Also interesting that because they were using prototypes in the movie, in one scene you can see that they used a version with early headlights that still had regular round lamps behind them.
