How do you ramp up when you've already announced you are working on, what was it, eleven games at once?

Quoted from Fulltilt:

Now we’re cancelling kid’s cartoons because they represent heroic cops stopping bad guys.

Next thing you know they will be closing all the Disney parks.

Quoted from Fulltilt:

So many racist plots through the years it’s hard to keep track.. Archie Bunker, George Jefferson... even Howard Stern in black face alongside George Jefferson. But that was back when we could laugh.
Now we’re cancelling kid’s cartoons because they represent heroic cops stopping bad guys.
There is a problem here somewhere.
But back to Deep Root. (:

And don’t forget they also violated Elmer Fudds Second Amendment rights.

I know this seems weird but even American Pinball Hot Wheels looks pretty good in the short video on SDTM podcast, the light effects are cool who knows on game play but with COVID they decided to go forward and there seems to be a lot of game there for the potential price (yes - I know not 100% revealed).

You got TNMT and not Hot Wheels soon GNR from JJP there is a you missed the boat moment coming up if they don’t reveal soon. There is only so much disposable income out there and those are some pretty compelling options. I say this as someone who is cheering for DeepRoot and like the theme of RAZA, I think the theme could be like a BBB in art or quirky-ness.

Here is your mini Techno trip Mr Odin

Easily one of the magic pinball concepts !

I have all the real ones on DVD.

I have Gone With the Wind collectors edition. It'll be worth millions.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I hope Deep Root is ramping up what they are planning to do when that old photo that's been floating around for years of Barry O in full blackface/pimp costume starts circulating a little more.
Yikes!

I just saw that the other day for the first time. Yikes.

#8610 3 years ago

Deep Root is being lapped by everyone. This company appears to be vaporware.

#8611 3 years ago

They were going to show at tpf , I don't know why they don't show something now before people commit to Turtles and Hot Wheels

Quoted from Halfwasted:

Deeproot is a nothing burger.

#8613 3 years ago

Sounds like Barry O should run for Governor of Virginia or PM of Canada.

#8614 3 years ago

Did Barry really throw on the black face?

God I hope not.

Yes. I saw the picture myself a few days ago for the first time.

Still not as bad as a pic of Trudeau(not Justin) in a Santa outfit...

Wow! I was hoping this was just a mean joke. Yikes of that is real and does explain the departure.

Quoted from wrb1977:

The big 3? Honestly, there is only a big 1 with everyone else fighting for the scraps.

I don't see anyone fighting for scraps.

Spooky-sold out Rick and morty. Won't be done making these for at leat a year
Chicago gaming - good luck getting a mmr royal editiin. Making a game with spooky and Ben heck
Dutch pinball - 6 to 8 months to recieve a big lebowski... For 12.5k!
American pinball-not sure where hot wheels will fit or sell. Could have issues
Stern will continue to make problematic cookie cutter machines with terrible playfields
Deeproot - money has never seemed to be their first concern. J pop has many followers that will buy any game he makes. Terrible businessman but great game designer
Jersey jack-these game have alway been something I am more likely to find in a private collection before a location

Bottom line is there at plenty of people with money to spend. Espically private collectors. I can't image trying to keep a route or location going at the moment though. Really feel for those guys.

There are plenty of collectors buying NIB limited editions

Wait...Barry Ousler left Deeproot? Are you thinking of Dennis Nordman?

Sorry just assumed if pics like that are really out there this wouldn’t go well. Don’t know if he’s still there. Not a good time for companies to support those kind of things.

As inappropriate as it may be, I find it hard to understand that the general expectation would be for somebody to lose their job over this. It just seems way out of proportion.

Back to counting I see!

#8626 3 years ago

are they shutting down everything without any communication?
I think that really strange that they don't communicate at least for a future release date. Maybe they are quietly leaving the pinball world...

So I start my "count-up" over.

As well as Something that is posted online say 15 years ago and that persons views changed to a better , but still gets lambasted over it....and loses job or endorsements.

How about if it was posted 6 years ago? Proudly?

Like I said, I hope deep root has a plan in place for dealing with this.

Levi has reached the next level. From "bitter" to "joyful...ly watch the hobby self-destruct".

I bet this is not even his final form!

So no spell check either on their website?
Interesting though that they still have all intentions to launch in 2019 if you read it!

You‘re...

a) wrong.

b) Even if you were right that‘s not a „spell check“.

The spelling error is not about the year, it's about the facilities.

Indeed!

#8639 3 years ago

1) Then write it.

2) It's octo assembly! A simple facility couldn't keep up, d'uh!

Edit: But it's nice to see that we're down to the most important parts regarding pinball discussion again: Orthography!

Deeproot knows they can start selling games without giving tours and putting on a show, right?

Doesnt appear that way, unless they really dont have much to show, which is probably the real problem.

So? new reveal date: 2021 for a production start 2022 for the first pin limited to 500 then other reveal date to 2023 for a new pin in 2024....
That makes us look much older at the end isn’t it?

Before cuing the Robert Downey from Tropic Thunder, or Dave Chappelle in whiteface as the news anchor gifs, I'd like to relay a story from my undergrad days.

Two kids down the hall in my dorm, who were randomly paired by the university to be roommates, were almost text-book polar opposites. One kid was from a wealthy suburb of NYC, had a new (then) BMW M3, both parents were well-to-do doctors. Stereotypical "preppy". The whole nine. Mike was going to school to be a doctor himself.

The other kid, was from what most would consider humble roots. Came from a poor family, played baseball but wasn't "good enough" to get a scholarship for it, his dad worked in some crummy factory 7 days a week to make ends meet. Paul was a good student though, and a hard worker, and worked full time during the 4 years I knew him.

Anyways, the two formed an unlikely duo, and were pretty tight. Tight enough that they chose to remain roommates all four years, and met each other's families and what not. Well sophomore year, they decided to go as the other for Halloween. Mike rocked Paul's baggy Carhart jeans, his old redwing boots, and his flannel shirt. Paul dressed up in Mike's Gucci dinner jacket, his designer jeans, and Italian loafers.

If you haven't guessed by now, Mike was black, and Paul was white, and they helped each other with their respective "face-makeup". Everybody that saw them thought it was hilarious, and nobody was offended by it. Many pictures were taken, and the administration didn't get involved. I can't imagine what the reaction by the administration would be in today's world. And this was only 20 years ago.

I'm not going any further than that, I just wish we could all get along, and stop being offended at everything. It makes life so much more fun and interesting.

What's the over under that the "5 Years of Deeproot" actually takes 6 or 7?

This could be a win for them if this economy and current pinball boom is petering out, but then they finally have games ready when the next one hits.

Why wouldn't you have faith in Deeproot? Every machine that they have released has been a massive hit.

Stern and B/W can't even claim that.
