So, I've decided to do a Twin Peaks pin. It's possible it will be a re-skin/re-program, but at the moment I'm leaning towards a from-scratch approach. Inspired by Wolfmarsh's Spaceballs post (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/spaceballs-the-pin) I thought I would share a couple of the concepts I've put together so far and open it up to the community for ideas on modes, art, mood, etc. as I'm sure some amazing ideas could come from it!

ROLLOVER LANES or INLANES — “THREE DEAD GIRLS”
3 paths — one letter found for each of the victims T-R-B
Each time all 3 are lit add a multiplier.
    Multiplier resets after each ball.
Rollover plays audio of Agent Cooper saying each girl’s name.

    ANNIHILATION MODE
Timed mode (20 seconds) triggered by entering the Black Lodge without filling Courage.
The ball in play is trapped. Strobe lighting.
Audio: “If you confront the Black Lodge with imperfect courage it will utterly annihilate your soul.”
All existing multipliers and bonuses remain in place, but every 5 seconds for 20 seconds 2% of the point total (at the time mode begins) is subtracted, unless a specific shot is hit.
Drained balls are returned and auto-saved until mode ends.

    TIBETAN ROCK THROW
A messenger ball shot (ala Daredevil Bart). Each shot progresses through the list of suspects.

    INVITATION TO LOVE
Plays scenes from the soap opera on the DMD

    Some audio ideas:

    COIN IN:
    What’s up, Doc?

    GAME START:
    “She’s dead… wrapped in plastic.”

    BALL DRAIN (all Albert):
What the hell kind of two-bit operation are they running out of this treehouse, Cooper?
    Welcome to amateur hour.
    The ol’ rustic suckerpunch, uh?
    Oh, that’s nice. How appropriate.

    BALL SAVE:
    I’ve got good news

    MATCH:
    New shoes.

    NO MATCH:
Blow the whistle, Josie. It’s quittin’ time.

As far as toys, was thinking pop bumpers could be a pie, a coffee mug, and a donut. Maybe a coconut with a tape and half the necklace. Thinking of having the wall of the orbit be clear and putting red curtains behind it.

Can't wait to hear your ideas!

what does all that have to do with twin peaks?

    Sigh.

I knew that someone was going to ask as soon as I saw the thread title...

    #5 9 years ago

Haha. Well, this didn't go as well as I had hoped

    #6 9 years ago

All I can say is that I'd love to see this done. And you nailed it with the game start idea.

Other themes/show stuff that you could use:
Black Lodge mode / White Lodge Mode
    One Eyed Jacks
    Book House Boys
    The Owls
    Log Lady

Pretty much a ton of directions you could go. And you also have great audio to work with.

Good luck and please update this if you do end up doing it.

Thanks, Josiah. There will definitely be something Black Lodge. I was thinking it would be a multi-ball, but you might be right -- maybe it deserves it's own mode.

    #8 9 years ago

Oh man, the black lodge interior, with the checkered floor and red curtains and chairs, would make wicked artwork for either the cabinet or the backglass! This could be a great pin!

If you get an quick multi-drain on a multiball with no jackpot (similar to Tibetan Rock throw):
animation of Andy getting hit in the head with a rock and stumbling around.

    Bank of targets:
    Pie, Coffee, Donuts, Cigarettes

    Giant Multiball:
    Visit from the Dream Giant

    Dancing Dwarf mode:
    Reversed flippers with backwards speech

Mike the one armed man mode:
    Only one flipper works

    Ball drain Quote:
"Don't drink that coffee... There's a fish in the percolator"

To me, there has to be an Audrey mode, with her song. I love that song.

Evan, definitely going to be doing something with the checkered floor. My first mockup had it on some of the plastics, but I may end up doing it on the playfield. I'm currently leaning towards it being the outer orbit.

    Kirkgun --
I was TRYING to figure out how to work in the audio of "there's no feeling where there's no sense, Andy!" -- that could be a good place.

I like the idea of the targets. A) Adding the smokes and b) It will certainly be easier to do decals on targets than to the fabricate them as bumper tops.

Dancing Dwarf with reversed flippers is fantastic. Can't believe I hadn't thought of that (but, hey, that's why the thread, right?!)

Dunno about a whole Audrey mode. Can definitely think about it, but the song HAS to be in there. I was already planning on using it for the Attract Mode. Actually, come to think about it, that might just be the perfect analogy

Dancing dwarf with reversed flippers is bloody brilliant!!!

One idea I had recently that I think will be a cool touch: a custom plunger that's Josie's face / drawer pull.

    #13 9 years ago

Awesome, I have always wanted to do a Twin Peaks or Dune retheme. I can't wait to see what you do.

    #14 9 years ago

You know, now that you mention it, I'm surprised there isn't a Dune pin!

    #15 9 years ago

That's a damn fine cup of coffee.

Also they are going to start filming again just after Christmas, I hope I can still goto Tweeds cafe , my daughters fav place to eat, maybe I can be an extra as Pinball log man?

    #16 9 years ago

this game needs a black lodge mini playfield with lots of red and everything goes backward

    #17 9 years ago

Definitely another thing I've considered, Pascal. Been thinking about the specifics. I mean, obviously there's a possible mini-playfield/couch analogy to be had with SPP, but have been wondering what the actually implementation would look like.

    #18 9 years ago

This would be bad-ass! A black lodge is a must. Traffic light, ceiling fan, room above the convenience store upper playfield. A twilight zone repurpose would be kind of cool for this. I've always thought this would be the coolest pin ever.

    Quoted from kirkgun:

"Don't drink that coffee... There's a fish in the percolator"

    Yes Came to post this.

Pete "How do you take it?"
Agent Cooper " Black as midnight on moonless night."
    Pete "Pretty black."

    #20 9 years ago

Hey, Jam -- definitely planning on having a traffic light. Thought about the ceiling fan, but not sure where it would work, so was thinking instead, maybe miniature record player. RE: convenience store -- I also thought about this, but I think if there ends up being an upper playfield it'll almost certainly have to be the Black Lodge.

Someone created a virtual Twin Peaks pin in Dreams (PS4).

Did this ever go anywhere? I wish someone would create one. Looking at you, AmericanPinball

    #23 3 years ago

If I ever make a homebuilt, Twin Peaks will be the theme. In the meantime, I'd love to discuss design ideas. Here's one: Dr. Jacoby's Coconut Challenge. Collect all the red and blue lights to crack Jacoby's coconut which then plays an audio clip from Laura's diary. "Hey, what's up doc?"

Alright. Hopping on this idea train too.....

Some brainstorming I did last night.

    Pop bumpers sounds:
    1. Owl hoots
    2. "Damn!"

    Call-Outs:
    1. There’s a fish in the percolator.
    2. She’s dead, wrapped in plastic.
    3. Diane, entering the town of Twin Peaks.
    4. Damn fine coffee!
    5. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present.
    6. Leo, no!
    7. A place both wonderful and strange.
    8. My log saw something last night.
    9. What’s up Doc?
    10. Catch you with my death bag.
    11. The owls are not what they seem.
    12. Lucy saying “Sheriff Truman”
    13. Let’s rock.
    14. Fire walk with me.
    15. Got a light?
    16. Sometimes my arms bend back.
    17. Helloooooooo!
    18. I am not your foot.
    19. It’s not about the bunnies.
    20. I am the FBI.
    21. What year is this?

    #26 3 years ago

I live in Twin Peaks and thanks to that show we had to move the Twin Peaks population sign in front of the sheriffs station because fans kept stealing the sign.
