First thing I look at are the fuses. The manual (available online as well) details where the fuses are and the values. When I get a new machine I ALWAYS check fuse values and ensure they are proper. Keep in mind that there are several different types of fuses as well... SB = slow blow, FB = fast blow. Make sure to take the fuse out and check for continuity (you'll need to get a meter if you don't have one).
