Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Yeah you should definitely spend $5600 on a game you don't like, makes sense.
Overrated? Every single game in pinball is both underrated and overrated. If you don't like it you don't like it. It's big, a pain to move, and that's not a deal that leaves any meat on the bone for you to profit so why bother if you don't like it?

Oh, I don't know...I was just thinking of doing this recently when deciding what game to restore next. Love the theme, hate the game, but feel like I'm missing something because so many people love it. I can completely see what the OP's talking about.

OP, I could tell you that you should try it and let us know how it worked out. But that would be disingenuous, because in the end, I went with AFM. So no...I wouldn't do it.

Have you ever MET any crackheads?
I have.

Why am I not surprised?

I like how he snuck a third one in there. A true pinhead.

Quoted from jalpert:

Since we're talking about a game being worth the cash..... the pinside top 5:
1.) MM - Sells for a lot more
2.) TZ
3.) AFM - Sells for more
4.) MB - Sells for a lot more
5.) LOTR - Sells for about the same.
3 of the 4 games that aren't TZ in the top 5 sell for either a lot more or are more expensive. It's pretty hard to argue against the game being a good value.

1. MM - 4,414 produced
2. TZ - 15,235 produced
3. AFM - 3,450 produced
4. MB - 3,361 produced
5. LOTR - 5,100 produced

Your data tells only half the story and doesn't account for the numbers above. I'd venture to guess that the laws of supply and demand are in effect here with prices stabilizing with the game that had more produced. With over 15,000 made, TZ is in constant supply, and I think the prices on that game have actually dropped quite a bit since a year or two ago.

Doesn't really need to does it? More units make the price lower, making a better deal right?

True dat, mofo!

Quoted from Astropin:

I understand why TZ is considered great but it's just never "clicked" with me (and I keep trying....but won't be buying).
The other game that gives me the same kind of feeling is WOZ......don't care for it either. I play them both when I come across them...but that's as far as it will go.

I wanted to give you a thumbs up...
But then I wanted to give you a thumbs down...
But it's Thanksgiving so I just kept it positive.

Quoted from Astropin:

I do LOVE my new IJ though.....when it's working right. (Going for another cheap thumbs up)

You know the way to my heart. Food, sex, IJ. That was an easy one, man...

Quoted from jalpert:

That's a possible reason that the game is less money than some of the other top 5 games, but at the end of the day my point is a good one. Twilight Zone, which is one of the cheapest games in the top 5 (on average), is hard to say it's a bad value based on that fact.
Plenty of people don't care for it, some like it more than others, but for a game in that class, it's about as cheap as it gets. I don't necessarily care why.

Thumbs up to this. In all fairness, I was having a rough day at work and wasn't really getting the drift of your post. I thought you were saying games that would appreciate. But you were really saying what games are a good deal now. By that standard, you're absolutely correct about TZ, and the data I added actually supports that. My apologies for the misunderstanding.

Quoted from Jvspin:

The problem I have with TZ is that it keeps me from buying most of the new machines coming out. I just can't bring myself to spend more money for a machine that has so much less stuff in it.

Sometimes less is more. Case in point: AFM.

Quoted from Jvspin:

Yes, AFM is the poster child for the "less is more" game.
It's relatively simple playfield is elevated by good rules, good art, great humor and a fun theme. If one of the newer games did such a good job on those other aspects I might be tempted, despite the lack of "stuff" in the game.

Hobbit: Good rules. Good art. Good theme (but not very fun). No humor. But a little too slow for my taste. That machine comes infuriatingly close to a perfect machine...but not for me. So I totally get what you're saying.
