Hello, I need a little help / confirmation in my troubleshooting.. (Yes, I read the other treads, that's how I got this far ) I turned on TZ and it didn't report any errors, but after playing a few minutes and hit the Piano and the music didn't play, but the slot machine went off. I then hit the clock millions target which didn't register so I knew I had a problem. I turned it off the machine, checked the manual and I tracked everything that was dead to J206. (Piano, Clock, Lower left 5 Million, ect...)

I reseated J206 and J208 and restarted, again it booted clean but everything on J206 was still dead.

I go to the switch edge test and hold the clock millions target, it goes a little crazy and reports a ground fault...same result for everything else connected to J206. I turn the machine off again, pull the j206 connector off the board, I ground my black side of my multimeter then touch each metal tab inside the J206 connector with the RED side to see if I get continuity, I didn't. Did I do test this right?

If so, am I correct in then thinking U20 is toast? Is there a way to check U20?
Any other troubleshooting suggestions before I go that far?

I wasn't doing any maintenance before the errors started or replacing any lights.

Thanks for any guidance.

Ok, I just bought a logic probe yesterday and it will be delivered today. I’ll read up on how to use it and I’ll post again with my findings.

I followed a suggestion from a guy Facebook and I took a spare wire and connected it to pin 1 of J208. Went into test mode and touched the other end of the wire to each pin of of J206. Pin4 (the dead end) shows a ground fault. I think I understand this now to mean I have a chip problem since the jumper trick removed the playfield?
I also tested jumping PIN1 on J206 to each pin on J208. No ground faults but pin3 on 208 came back with nothing at all... not sure what that means.
