Hi all this is my second build twilight zone just starting ,I love this game and since noting better to do with covid and being a stay home dad ,I decided to remake it for a second time but this time will be documented with lots of details to help any potential dare devils who would like to build one from scratch .
My first TZ was made from photos ,this one will be so accurate to the inch since I had the help of a friend pinsider who provided me with the original parts to copy ,and me to bring them to life !!
Who ever has any questions would gladly like to help make their dream come true .
Building the most complicated game .
Enjoy .

Almost rolled my eyes at this one as another rehash of the other thread here, but there's some good manufacturing going on instead of just buying parts and screwing them onto a new PF in what will likely end up as a terrible playing pin.

Excited to see this some come to fruition.

#3 79 days ago

This is absolutely absurd and awesome at the same time.

Second build?! Mad lad.

Where are you at in acquiring unique parts (gumball mech, clock, subways, etc)?
What are you doing for a wiring harness?

These scratch builds are very intruiging! I'm also out of my mind and considering one for a next project.

For a wiring harness I try to find from games that have the same color code and I take it apart and convert it for the game i’am building.
For the twilight zone i’am using from a firepower 2.
It is the same wiring and after that just the manual is my guide.

Impressive, perhaps you should make and sell unobtanium ball guides and metal pieces for people in need !
All the best , following

Looking good
I will for sure be following this thread.

The metal fabrication here is incredible they look like factory parts!!

They are exact by the inch ,no difference at all ,measured each part with a flex ruler .
This build will be factory like and even better.
Hold on guys there is more coming

Quoted from RGarriott:

These are laser cut and design from scratch on dxf file, but unfortunately I don’t own the file and I will never do because it was very expensive, and the cuts also.
But I made a spare set just in case something went wrong ,but luckily I made all the bends with no mistakes so I still have the spare complete!!
When I made my first twilight zone I design everything on paper and after I used a jig saw cut and used a blade for steel very time consuming and grind To perfection.
Will upload some photos from my first build just so all get an idea how it is done.

#16 77 days ago

Well after all metal parts are cut and bend and still waiting for the playfield to Arrive and wiring ,next step till they arrive is the speaker panel will be cut out of mdf wood.
Tomorrow will be working also on the back box lamp board.
Now there is one part I haven’t found yet and it is the shooter lane diverter is someone have a lead were to find one used or new since all major pinball parts stores don’t have it in stock but just a photo, but if i’am not able to find I don’t have a problem using any other diverter from another game for instance a Taf diverter will still work.

Was looking for a shooter lane diverter and came across a used one but unfortunately missing the shaft and the hub and crew assembly so started to create one from scratch and also used a shaft from the upper ramp diverter and made my own since that shaft is still available.

Remarkable metal work...

#19 44 days ago

Another busy day working on the Twilight zone !!
Bought a donor Playfield to start my project build ,but will eventually replace it with a new reproduction when the game will be complete .
Very time consuming doing the proper bends for the the shooter lane cover and shooter lane diverter Optos.

Keep up the good work, judging by your metal fabrication skills I guess the woodwork side easy peasy?

Well this is my fourth build in cabinets and to be honest it is a challenge but really enjoyable, messy job when it comes to glue ,but you save a ton of money when you build by your self a cabinet.
Thank you for you kind comments.

#23 31 days ago

Yeah if you got the time/space/tools and enjoy it, it’s a no brainier to build your self

I sadly lack the time and space

Today was working on the lower cabinet finalized all parts and added Dado slots to start assembling the cabinet, very time consuming, but needed to keep the cabinet strong .
More work to be done but step by step and will come to life.
It’s been a wile since the last time I started to make cabinets and oh boy how much work is needed to be done to bring a pinball cabinet to life

Yes a cabinet is alot of work and very precise work as well I will say the wpc are a little easier than a SS cabinet.
Good work though...be nice to see when you finish.

Cabinet finally cut and assembled, completing final measurements and bullseye
Now the messy stuff glue and nails yikes .
