For #1 - Likely the error is coming on every time you turn the game on is because the error isn't being cleared. (Running the test in test mode doesn't CLEAR any errors related to the gumball, AFAICR.)
Do this:
Go into Gumball Test. Eject 2 balls. Exit test before the game tries to re-load the gumball. Turn game off, then back on. The game will try to load the gumball machine. Verify that it does.
If the error remains after that, OR, the game does NOT load two balls back into the gumball machine, verify that you (or previous owner?) haven't selected to 'Disable Gumball' in the Adjustments menu.
