I’m thinking about buying a twilight zone but wanted to know what areas of the playfield I need to pay close attention too. What areas are typically worn? Thank you in advance for your time.

Try looking for a few archived for-sale ads or restoration threads. You might see a few playfields with wear that can lead you in the right direction.
When you're checking it over you'll want to make sure the inserts are flush with the playfield surface, not raised or sunken. It will be obvious when you look at them or slowly roll a ball over the edges. Take an experienced person with you if it's your first one. Use a checklist, you'll inevitably forget something.
Look closely in front of the slot machine kickout. Mine had burned through the mylar when I got it.
You probably will want to look the slot machine scoop and the target right beside it also. They can get pretty banged up.
What’s the best way to tell original playfield vs reproduction? Will the front edge have certain initials? Thanks again!!

The original playfield has a barcode w/ serial # info under the clear coat in the left drain just under the game credits. You can see that in the photo a couple messages above.
Reproduction doesn’t have that and is just empty blue there.
