Love my TZ
TZ is in my collection since 2005.
Early production, green lock, white clock-face, cut out stars translite, Posts with rubbers in the Town Square.

Mods in mine are :
El wire on wire-ramps (very dim at 6.3V)
RGB-LED strip behind Rod Sterling and the door.
Flashing leds behind the plastics of powerfield, activated by REED-switches.

Great theme with nice modes refering to the shows. And the Twilight Zone song of Golden Earring .
Love the stop and go type of game when accompanied with fast flow pins.

Quoted from sturner:

What gumballs did everyone buy? I bought a set from Pinball Life and they look nice, but they are what appears to be almost ceramic. Having a difficult time getting them into the pinball machine and worried about cracking an irreplaceable part. The other ones seem to be plastic and maybe have a bit more give to them and wondering if I should look at picking up those to be safe.

I have the ceramic ones. First one is indeed scary.... You have to use a little force, and just when you think, owww the plastic is going to break....they pop in.
(not for the faint of heart )

That is not that early, but just could be.

Mine is an sample/early production and is 14 may 1993
Best is to check for green lock insert.
Mine features ( ) White clock, Green lock, Extra posts and rubbers in Town Square. Translite has cut-out stars.

To look at dates and ownerlist : http://www.chrisguk.somee.com/pinball/details.asp?table=tz

This is my 3rd time in the club. This will be the one I keep.

Welcome back club-hopper

Quoted from Doostur:

Figured I'd post in here since you guys all own one.
I am looking to purchase a TZ. Preferably in the New Jersey area. If you know of anyone please let me know. I can pick up immediately. Good way to get a little extra cash before the holidays PM me!

Hey!! we want NEW members not switch-members ...
Good luck in your hunt

Mine was in the manual, as a sort of an addendum (loose sheet, put in after printing).
So indeed more and more likely

Both magnets and flippers should be working during multiball.
Not if you only have Battle The Power

Quoted from ArcRevival:

Picked up this HUO gem. I don't think it's ever even had a rubber replaced. Ultra clean throughout. No heat damage on pcb's. You could eat off any part of this machine.

Only the transformer gives it's age away

Other pics, looks like you unboxed it yesterday

Gorgeous!! Congrats!!

Wow thanks Ingo!!

PM send

(My clock is NOT broken, but eventually it will, so i am going for the better design!!)

#838 4 years ago

Great opportunity, when the clock is out for the "Ingo" threatment, to solve my horrible lock bounce-outs

Quoted from cheshirefilms:

For a moment I flirted with the idea of selling my TZ to fund an MMR but they're too expensive still, even from people who bought them and regret the purchase. Maybe I'd regret the purchase too...

If you would put them side by side there would be no regrets

Does anyone know how the backboard is connected to the playfield ?
My first inpression was 4 screws, through playfield.
Removed those but it still won't budge ...... perhaps attached with something below the plastics or wooden dremmels?

Quoted from lb1:

You're right but there are 5 screws and not 4.

You are absolutly right!!
5 screws instead of 4 for the backboard attachment on a TZ.
Tucked away under the gumball diverter mech
Thanks for the help !!

Gorgeous apron! Pricey but beautiful

But put a Bend-Plastic on your TZ to stop the glare

#1509 3 years ago

Exiting! Hunting for a TZ

Look for burn-marks around the magnets. (better is the absence, off course )
Planking on the mini-playfield.
Decals, are the red-purple radiants washed out.
Wear in front of the slot VUK
See if the powerball is recognized, coming out of the through and going through the subway ramp.

Worth checking

Happy to say I have joined the club.

Show us what you got

#1562 3 years ago

Just throw them in the through, they get distributed in the proper place

#1582 3 years ago
Quoted from jathomp22:

I also added reed switches to the magnets and it lights up a blue light behind the sign whenever the magnet is on.

Done that too, great electrifying effect when the magnets get activated!

Quoted from arcadenerd925:

Well done, i am considering getting that kit too. How much of a pain is it to get the PF off?

Not so hard to do, but please mark the connectors, two pretty identicals under there. When not plugged in right you will have a problem with the opto's.

Quoted from TheLaw:

It's an additional magnet in the right loop that the game was originally suppossed to have; it still exists on the prototype versions.
The software is still in the game, so some people drill a new whole and add the magnet.

Have all the items to make this happen...
But i am too faint of heart to drill that playfield
Perhaps i am more of a WOZ person, huh amendes ?

Quoted from Bowlingpin:

I figured it was real, oh well.
Does have the post holes between bumpers and green lock, thought those were all signs of early production. The date of manufacturer is May 8th 1993.

It is real!
Same as mine

Replacing my clock board. Are there instructions? Remove 4 screws and slide clock out? Just want to Check before attempting it

Make sure your clock-hands are aligned at 12 o'clock !!

Twilight Zone "Epic Mod Disaster"
DO NOT do this to your game.
It will NOT add an value to the machine.
$$$ for garbage.
This photo does not actually even include every mod either.
Some were non-reversible.

xTheBlackKnightx can you get me in contact with this owner?
I see he is missing a kitchensink in there, and i have one for sale

I want to join this club. Please PM me if you want to trade in your membership by selling me your TZ. Looking for a reasonably priced, players condition example.

We don't want to swap members, NEW owners

Good luck hunting one down

Quoted from Coyote:

Oh - and for folks going to York. I'm really stoked about the bottom two door-panel flashers. I got them installed last night, and it's really an amazing look - the flasher animations work with the light animations really well - almost like they were meant to be!(*) Be curious to see what others think.
(* - They were. In development, the center panels (Lock 1, 2, Bum, Ball) each had a flasher. Top two were connected to the Upper Left Ramp and Upper Right Ramp - when you buy a kit for the door flashers, this is where they are connected to. The *bottom* two, are connected to the Pop Bumper flasher and the Upper R Flipper flasher. if you get GLM's board, *it is wrong* - they just feed the bottom two off the top two.)

Uhh, Coyote, perhaps i am misreading here, but do the connections have to be changed, did you alter the setup?

Quoted from Luppin:

I always had the typical problem with the powerball detector harness. I read in the past a solution that worked for me: twist all the wires in one direction until they are all rolled up quite tightly. It works for me, but just for some weeks. Then sometimes I have to do the work again, but in the opposite direction, and have all wires again all rolled up in the other direction.
Is there a permanent solution instead?

Put a thin layer of solder on the header pins, so it is a more tight fit.

Quoted from scampcamp:

At times the ball does not go in all the way & just comes back out (sometimes not) even at a good speed. Is this normal? Thanks

Quoted from wizard_mode:

yeah brick shots are normal for the lock shot

Quoted from Seatmandan:

ain't that the truth.....

Guys, read this thread, follow the guides there ...... no more brick-shots, realy no bricks
Thanks again Coyote

Quoted from per3per3:

After doing some additional research, the 'Outhole Kicker Assembly' is the thing I'm talking about. I would assume that if it moves freely, it's likely just the spring? Should I also replace the coil tubing and the plunger & link assembly?

First look if all is clean and moving freely, at the right angle.
Things can go rough downthere with multiball and sdtm's

Definatly get Ingo’s clockboard!!
Build like a tank, never broken clock anymore, components socketed, socketed LED’s whick are dimable to your liking.
Great service and a very nice guy to boot.
(You sensed it, i am a fan )

Quoted from arcadenerd925:

I have the ingo clock board, original housing and blue LED's, I think it fits the theme very nicely but to each their own. Everyone is going to have their own opinion/taste here.

Same here, had the rainbows in it first but the color-changing is not in-sync so changed it to blue pretty dim. Looks great! (My 2 cents )

Just picked up a TZ with a Pinball Decals Invader Topper. I'm not big on toppers and would just as soon part with it, but can't find any recorded eBay or Pinside sales so I have no idea how to price it. Any ideas?

Can’t help you on a price, but what i do know is that pinballdecals prices are outrages

Quoted from BenB:

I am new to the club here as I just picked up my TZ this past weekend. The 3 AA batteries are still currently PCB mounted. I’ve read mixed reviews with the clock and certain batteries. I’d like to know what most of you guys are using? Coin style, remote AA Packs, or ?.
[quoted image][quoted image]

Remote AA packs, done that to all my machines

#7007 56 days ago
Quoted from Coyote:

I still just replace my batteries every year. Call me old-fashioned, but.. hey.

I do too replace them every year, but in the meantime they are off the board.
Not every battery has the same lifespan, or can malfunction.
Better save then sorry, and it's real cheap to make

That's some serious side decal sun fade there.
