Could anyone share the process of replacing the bulbs inside the clock? How much of taking it apart is involved? Photos would be great if anyone ever photo documented the replacement. Time to stick in some leds in there, finally.
Thanx

#7569 4 years ago

Thanx so much everyone, I’ll be sure to follow the guidelines . Much appreciated.

Does anyone know if this yellow plastic for the lever handle is available for purchase somewhere? Mine is missing. Thanks!

Are these any good? Are there better ones out there? Since TZ has been in my collection for 16 years and will probably always stay around, I want to just have one as backup. Thoughts?

Quoted from Manny65:

Certainly been plenty of people recently buying them (based off the posts in this thread) and no complaints - you can search the thread for "Caspers"

Thanx!

#12358 1 year ago
Quoted from ray-dude:

I recently swapped out an original board for one of these and it works great! Be very careful to not lose small parts as you do the swap, but otherwise easy
Only asterix is that my minute hand had intermittent detection after the swap. Turns out it wasn't cleanly breaking the opto path. Following the advice here, I put a bit of electrical tape on the end of the minute hand to extend it and absolutely zero issues since then.

Great tips.
Ordered.
Thanks everyone.

Been having issues with the clock. As you can see in the video, in test mode it’s controllable. It stops, reverses both slowly and fast, but no forward. When I exit the menu, or when turning the machine on, it continuously works, but in reverse mode only.

Thanx

#13294 1 year ago
Quoted from Coyote:

Likely you need a new motor driver board (or get the current one repaired). It's mounted under the playfield, near the clock, where the clock's motor plugs in.

Yea we’ve been at it for a week or two now, no luck yet. Might just have to get a new one.

#13296 1 year ago
Quoted from monkfe:

I didn't look up the schematic, but I assume the motor driver board reveres the polarity at the motor depending on whether its going forward or backward...are you seeing this reversal in test with the motor removed?

Will look into that too. Much thanks

Looks great! What type of cabinet prep did you do?

Thanks! Just some novus 1 sprayed and wiped down. It’s what I had lying around but it did the job.

Figured the extra topper would be better off there than in storage

rad cals installed tonight, second set within a week after getting wh2o done a few days back. Came out beautifully. I originally got the machine with full original cabinet colors, but was never told about the fading (first game, 2006) eventually it was all lost and I never forgave myself for ruining such a well preserved cabinet. So now I feel much better, and highly recommend. Got these two years ago but they only got installed tonight.

I can tell by the size of the boxes these are packed real well. it’s almost double the width of the actual product.

Clock is working PERFECTLY in test. to the point, slow, fast, forward and back.

Yet during gameplay doesn’t activate. I’m used to it sometimes taking a break in the past, but now it’s just not responding at all.

What could be the problem?
Thanx in advance.

Quoted from Nate:

Greetings Twilight Zone fans,
I'm looking for a single plastic piece replacement, part number 31-1765-12. It is the triangular part above the upper right flipper. New or used is fine--just looking for one in good shape, not melted like mine. PM me if you have one you can sell.
Thanks
-Nate

Make sure you take care of the root problem. Otherwise that flasher will stay on and fry the next plastic you put over it before you put the glass back on…

Quoted from Coyote:

Check the setting A.2 25 "Disable Clock" is not set to Yes. If it is not, does the clock test itself on powerup?

yea made sure to turn disable clock off.

Clock runs when machine is turned on. It also does its thing between games and between players in a multi player game. Just not during modes I guess.

#13843 11 months ago

Thanks Coyote , I’ll report back

#13851 11 months ago

Going to see TZ on Saturday night when we all get together at our warehouse. I’ll check this and coyotes recco and see where it leads to. Will hopefully also be installing the TEP topper from the first batch of ten. Should be landing in TLV today with a friend, that hopefully won’t be too jet lagged to come over and bring it with on Saturday.

#13852 11 months ago

Oh yea! The topper has arrived. Can’t wait for Saturday night!

The video scrolls thru every TZ tv show opener from the 60's to now.

If you paint your wall in the back black, or starry like the video starts…. You wouldn’t see the screen’s frame. That could look amazing!

Anyone have a recommendation for a replacement for the door panel board?

We didn’t do any prepping to wh2o and TZ.
They came out perfectly.
Indiana though…. That should have been worked on a tad prior to sticking the sides on.

Quoted from Pinkitten:

This is a dumb question, but the mini playfield switches simply register hits that raise the value of the jackpot for defeating the power? Is that correct? So you want to keep the ball moving up there awhile before defeating the power to hit as many switches as you can? I guess I never gave it much thought, I’m always focused on trying to throw the ball upward to beat the power.

Correct. Sending it through the top doubles that score and progresses you to the next award next time you’re up there. So from 500k per hit you’ll get 750k per hit and if you defeat it after that it’s 1mil per hit.
