Loving having my TZ back in the lineup after way too long ! Great reacquainting myself with all the rules and little idiosyncracies of this masterpiece

Who else likes to get the Powerball locked away for the chance of that oh so sweet Powerball Double Jackpot in Multiball

Quoted from yzfguy:

Anyone heard from Ingo? I'm waiting 3 months for this clock board and haven't gotten a response from him in a few weeks.

I know someone in the UK that just got a clock board from him - they waited about a month for it.

Just a little thing but I added a Dead End road sign decal to the blank metal above the lane …. Which had always annoyed me more than it ever should have Now I can sleep at night

Quoted from horseflesh:

Now that's a good, simple mod ... and I am going to steal the idea. I think I can make a nice miniature sign with my laser engraver.

That sounds great. I was surprised it hadn’t been done before in some way.

Quoted from horseflesh:

Thanks for the inspiration, Ive. I decided to use a black and white sign to be distinct from the Powerfield signs, which are mostly yellow.
This is just a first draft, I don't have the right white-on-black material on hand. I had to use black-on-white which is not the best when most of the image is white... it comes out a little dull.
I'm open to ideas on other sign variations, and if anyone's dying for a copy we can work it out. Stuff like this is no big deal to make once I locate the right materials. [quoted image][quoted image]

Nice work …. I like that ! Stands out more than my small decal .

Quoted from horseflesh:

That does look good. It's a bit too blue for my taste but the illumination is nice and even.
Ive ya know what might be cool... Using that area for a sign that supports Town Square and the Dead End. Is this confusing?[quoted image]

horseflesh I like that also !

Another thought I had was some sort of warning light/sign combo in that area tied to the Dead End insert lamp

Quoted from mbaumle:

Slowly building up a parts order for my game. What’s the deal with the plastic ramp? Seems like all (most?) came with smoked grey plastic ramps, but most or all of the replacements are clear. Is one a prototype/sample difference? What’s the consensus here: original smoke or replace with a clear ramp?

I believe smoked was the original that most shipped with, there may have been some clear ??
Most folk now seem to prefer the clear - helps brighten up that corner of the machine, and just looks cleaner. Same with the smoked ramp on TAF.
I’m not sure what the thinking was with the smoked look tbh ?? Just looks dull.

Update: loose connector under the playfield.
Check those connectors, people!
All fixed.

It’s always pesky connectors . First thing to check

Quoted from Mikespinball:

Excellent, way to save some $.

Yes once I saw it , I couldn't bring myself to spend $90 on virtually identical ready cut one - it was satisfying to do and I save money to throw at different bits of plastic

Quoted from DuffysArcade:

Besides the unobtanium Ingo Board, are there any other good replacement TZ Clock Board options which are actually available to purchase??
After waiting for many months and getting many empty promises, I got a refund from Ingo (Theresa). So I'm still looking to find a good replacement board. When I bought my TZ, it already has some kind of aftermarket board w/ LEDs installed, but I still get the "Clock Broken" error and intermittent operation. Seems to bad optos.

That's not great - I was speaking to them a few weeks ago and they gave me the impression just a few weeks wait. Clearly that isn't the case. I will hold off on placing an order.

Quoted from PinJim:

I say my game is a rock, and it has been. I’ve owned it for well over 20 years, my pride and joy.
The actuator wire for my powerfield diverter broke last week. I replaced it today. Damn pinball, where it takes an hour to replace one little part. At least I’ve learned over the years to not rush and do things like put rags under where your working to catch the parts that fall down as your are trying to origami your hand to get them back in place, lol.
My boys are 7 and 9 - and are really starting to dig TZ. It makes me so happy! [quoted image]

Great photo

Just for the record and to possibly help others in the future.

I had the dreaded Check Fuses F115 and F114 message come up yesterday, followed by crazy solenoid firing, seemingly random sound effects, test reports etc.

Started checking through the Pinwiki advice.

Then a friend reminded me to try the basics first. Reseated the small ribbon cable between driver board and CPU board, and the connectors at J211, J210 , J114, J115. Including the Z connector.

Problem solved. TZ back in business.

Quoted from Pinkitten:

This is a dumb question, but the mini playfield switches simply register hits that raise the value of the jackpot for defeating the power? Is that correct? So you want to keep the ball moving up there awhile before defeating the power to hit as many switches as you can? I guess I never gave it much thought, I’m always focused on trying to throw the ball upward to beat the power.

I always concentrate on a well timed pulse to beat the power. The points are nice but I value the extra door panel awarded more , plus points advanced for the next Battle .

Just an FYI.

I recently had the dreaded Check Fuses F114 and F115 message , with the resulting ‘machine losing its mind’ madness .

Turned out it was BR1 on the main board that had failed. Replaced that and all good.
