Wow. This bumper cap gossip is gold.
I never really paid much attention to them but I can't wait to get home and see if mine are correct.
And while we are on slot scoops. Mine had come unwelded. I ordered a new scoop but the new one throws the ball at the tip of the left flipper, which is annoying as my broken one always placed it in the center.
I have tried bending the top tab down a bit to help, but it really has not helped much.
It would be nice if the scoop had room to tweak left and right but that baby is in there very tight.
Maybe I will get my old scoop re-welded and see if it works better.

Quoted from MK6PIN:

First pic had the white star posts blasting in flash mode....

I have four lighted star post that I purchased last March at the TPF.
I am waiting until I do a tear down to install them.
I was planning on putting one or two on the post under the mini playfield to help light underneath.
But now I will probably buy a couple more and hook them to the flashers like you did up top.
Do you have a photo or remember which flasher you hooked into?

#94 10 years ago
Quoted from bigdaddy07:

Where did you get the lighted star posts from?

Got mine from these people. No shipping and only $10 each at the Texas Show.

Quoted from MK6PIN:

Arcade....I actually grabbed the center "lamp" flasher on the miniplayfield ....I used the clear undercover when I rebuilt mine...really helped light up underneath......modified the Cliffy to fit my camera mod and the GLM's, and be able to make micro tilt adjustment on the board......a HUGE pain in the ass (Lloyd talked me off the cliff a couple of times...fried some optos) but worth it in the end for me....

Awesome. Was not aware of a clear undercover. Any links to this product?
It has been a long time since I was under the mini playfield. Just has cardboard under there currently, right?

#100 10 years ago

Ouch. $25 for clear lexan. Yikes.
I think I will stick with the already purchased Star Post lights and maybe look at cutting a hole or two in the existing cardboard to let in a bit of light..

#104 10 years ago
Quoted from burningman:

So, If you want the underside of the mini field to illuminate, you would install the lexan and the under star post lights, and the light will shine down through the lexan from the star posts?

No. There is a star post or two under the mini playfield that I plan to light up.
I think the light that shines down from the mini playfield comes from the bulbs that are used for the mini playfield inserts but are covered up by the cardboard underneath.

Quoted from bigdaddy07:

Check Home Depot, you can probably get a small sheet for much cheaper and template it with your cardboard for cutout. The clear plastic looks so much better, its worth it.

Yes. That should be pretty easy to use the cardboard for a template.

At first I thought, why would anyone thumbs down that post?
Then I saw the screen name. Problem solved.

Quoted from neurokinetik:

Twilight Zone owner for about 12 years now. I'd like to point out one thing about the "upgraded" replacement slot machine scoops. They are wider than the originals, at least, for my early production game. I have had nothing but trouble with my replacement scoop giving me inconsistent ball delivery compared to the old scoop. Right now it is about 1 of 20 balls SDTM, with the rest hitting the right flipper anywhere from the center to the tip.

I just got rid of my replacement scoop as well. No matter how I adjusted it, too many balls went down the middle.
I have a cousin that has a welding shop. He welded my old scoop back together and now every ball is straight to the center of the right flipper.
Life is good.

#318 9 years ago
Quoted from neurokinetik:

I had to grind that part down too. It stuck out well past the greed targets, and also was too far forward to fit properly with my reinforced slot greed target. I'll take measurements when I get my replacement (because I don't feel like taking the game apart twice right now) but the width of the scoop is probably 1/16" wider on the replacement than the original.

Same problem here as well.
Had to grind the little support arm way down both in length and depth.
But even after getting that just right, I could never get the ball aim like my original scoop.
Thank God my original scoop was so easy to fix.

I am glad that Mantis scoops are available for people who need them. But if you can get your old scoop repaired that is certainly the way to go.
My game plays so much better with the original back in place.

#358 9 years ago

I just probably got a bad one somehow. I could never get the Mantis scoop to deliver the ball to the same spot twice. It was so wild that some balls would eject straight down the middle.
I tried everything I could think of to help. Velcro inside, bending with pliers, screw adjustments, nothing worked.
Got my old scoop re-welded and have been a happy camper ever since.

I know this is not a tech thread but thought someone may have info on this proximity board for the ball trough.
I purchased it about 8 months ago and it has worked great. But now for some reason it is stuck on.
I thought maybe the little gold screw in the blue plastic part was a pot adjustment, but it does not seem to do anything but spin in place.
Is there an adjustment on these boards I'm missing or maybe testing it wrong. I thought the red LED was for when it sensed a metal ball but maybe it is just for power?
I'm sure someone in the group probably has this and knows more then I do.

I'm making good progress on my TZ rebuild! I should be done by this weekend!

Curious about the red Greed targets? And the square one?
For looks or was that just what was on hand?

Quoted from not4tilts:

I am probably over thinking this but ... what is the meaning of the phrase "look to the future"? Does this mean lock is lit?

It is a reference to the Camera shot.
The Camera tells the future in the show.

Quoted from Coyote:

So, uh.. silly question for those that have gumballs in their machine..
What happens when you have to take the center ball guide out, and the balls get everywhere into the machine?

I think the center guide will remove without messing with the gumballs.
But it has been a long time since I had to mess with mine

Quoted from crwjumper:

A friend 3-d printed one of these Spiral Arrows for me. After installing it I think that it's the best option for the "missing" spiral plastics. Yeah I know it's not the original design but it looks great! It slips over the Spiral bulb and lights it up perfectly. It really stands out when lit. It's not as bright as it seems in the picture though. I highly recommend this. Great job hanst!

That is amazing.
Love it when a mod really enhances a game.
I think this is in the same catagory as the Addams Family bookcase book on the two LED's.
You (or someone) could sell a ton of those if you can mass produce them.
I know I want one.

My clock millions target was old and not registering every hit.
Finally got around to installing a new switch yesterday.
Been putting it off forever but it really went fairly quick.
Also had the left flipper start trying to stay up.
Cleaned flipper links and put in a now sleeve and coil stop as well.
Good to go.
