Quoted from NeilMcRae:

so TZ remake announcement at Expo!

As much as I would like to see it, I doubt it because of what it would have to sell for to be profitable. All those toys and mechs, widebody etc. would likely make it a 10-11K pin. But, who knows?

#14452 71 days ago
Quoted from GILV:

Phoenix Arcade did not have TZ decals in stock because I bought their last set about 2 months ago.

He has them back in stock. I just ordered a backup set for when I send them to virtua pin because ups destroyed my TAF decals and I wasn’t taking a chance down the road that they could be sold out. However I still suspect he produces these on the DL His existing inventory can’t be that large.

#14453 71 days ago

I have a really nice TZ and I'd buy a remake. I'd order immediately, no question.

I second the Radcal decision! I recently restored a cabinet for my T2 and that process took every bit of 2 weeks to complete and I still see slight imperfections here and there. The Radcals slapped right on with minimal effort and easily saved me a week or more in time. To be fair, it’s not a turn-key process as they’d lead you to believe (you still have to strip or paint the original cab and drilling the holes for bolts, buttons, etc is tedious) but the end result is far worth the effort IMO.

I'd use radcals for sure if I ever redo mine...but use elevator bolts where you can to hide the carriage bolt heads in both the cab and backbox...they don't seem to make the very small ones (10-32?) so I just ground off the round portion of the carriage bolt and countersunk the wood a little. It is nice not to have a single carriage bolt head sticking out anywhere....

That is a very nice looking TZ.

I considered doing this but what if for some reason you needed to remove a bolt later down the road?!

That is a very good point and a wise way of seeing things, to eliminate later/greater problems.

Quick bump that we still have one 3rd magnet kit available for immediate shipping. Pm me or in my store.

Anybody know if they were making remake parts back in the early 2000s. I think gene was doing playfields around then. What about translite sand stuff like that

A lot of Gene's stuff had issues. Anything from Illinois Pin Ball, go over carefully.

More or less trying to determine if a translite posted on eBay where the owner said he has had it since 04 is original. Said he won it in a competition believes it’s original but isn’t 100% sure. Mine has a couple scratches and I want an all original

#14463 69 days ago

I wouldn’t buy a damn thing from Mirco. Man can’t be trusted and has known issues on top of being a thief.

I do not believe translights ever had repros made. The closes is CPRs 'glass' ones, AFAIK.

I thought so. There are some hacks that make them but that’s only more recently in the last few years

#14466 69 days ago

There are piles of pirated everything like that available nowadays and nobody seems to care. I can't believe the rights owners don't go hunting for some heads.

I don't think in the 30+ years the machine was in use the current carriage bolt was ever removed for any reason. I just don't see it as an issue really. Just replace the pivot nut if anything. Not a fan of Mirco either, but the radcals do look pretty sweet, I've used a few of these now and would still use them in the future if they were made for the machine I'm working on...

Curious to get peoples opinions. What’s the value on a perfect condition NOS translite. My understanding is they are pretty much unobtaniom at this point. I know price is what your willing to pay so opinions may vary but also want to know if I am nuts

Why were there some that didn’t? I never knew that

No rhyme or reason. I believe they had both on hand and grabbed off of one pile or the other.

My sample TZ doesn't have the star cutouts. I once had a TZ made a month later and it had the star cutouts.

I don't know if it effects value. Just that somebody might be looking for one or the other.

I just assumed they all had that my current one does but has a small scratch so I bought this to replace it. I didn’t get it yet but asked they guy if he knew. Do the cut outs functionality make that big of a difference

For my big resto I bought a TZ translite from classic arcades. The overall appearance was noticably darker the original, and the art was a little less crisp.

I have bought other translites from there with similar minor concerns. But, it's all I could find and much better looking than the old ones with the washed out colors and scratches.

#14475 63 days ago

I would think that a cpr glass would be the move.

I bought one something about the colors seems off to me. Have to see what it looks like in a game.

#14477 63 days ago

Man...if there is something wrong with the CPR glass, there are going to be some unhappy people. That's apparently the holy grail of all that is backglass/translites, so I hear. I have a factory TZ translite but I -almost- just bought a CPR because I ordered CPR other stuff.

Don’t get me wrong it looks pretty cool and maybe I am crazy or just used to the translite all these years but I have both. Now honestly my game has been folded up for 6 years so I haven’t turned it on with it in there. Maybe my mind will change, then I will end up with two wall hangers my original and the one I just bought for top dollar

I bought the CPR mirrored backglass a few months ago and overall I’m happy with it. Slightly darker than my original, artwork clarity is reasonable. It’s an option. It did convince me to replace my rough Space Shuttle translite with a mirrored glass because I’m restoring that pin. The SS CPR glass was really nice. The mirror areas were reflective, not merely silver paint, as some have experienced.

My clock motor driver board is kind of fried. Looks like capacitor leaked and took out the 7805 regulator. I will replace those tomorrow. Does anyone have the schematic for this board? It is not part of the 22 page WPC schematic that I have for TZ.
I am an EE so I like to know what the full schematic is when working on something.

Thanks in advance!

Think it is safe to say this is not nos. Never seen anything like this before. You can see the shininess on the back and it’s a thick. That’s what you get messing around on eBay

Ya that's sort of a no-go unless the plastic dramatically makes that less shiny.

Not that I'm a fan, at all, of these pirated deals, but since everyone else seems to be fine with it, and it's not made anymore, Xianek does have translites and backglasses for TZ I guess.

I have had success touching small scratches up in my translight.
I mix a little paint to match the color on the front of the translight then with a fine brush brush it into the scratch on the back of the translight, then wipe over with my finger to remove everything except the paint that is in the scratch. Works great

John Youssi’s art on TZ backglass…wow. So much to see. You can spend an hour just examining all the little references and hints he included on that translite. What an artist. I just read an article/interview with John. TZ is his favorite translite art he’s done, followed by TAF, MM and Jokerz. I do like his Jokerz translite a lot. I love all his art. Pinball is such a cool collaboration of artists, engineers and creators. Youssi is a huge part of pinball’s most iconic images.

The worst was this wasn’t bought as pirated it was advertised as “must be NOS but not 100% sure I won it in a pinball tournament in 2004 and it sat in my closet since. Which has to be blatant bs becuase they weren’t making them back then. Lesson learned to to f around on eBay

My comment was actually about jrcmlc's picture he posted of the translite from the other site. Your's isn't really all that bad, as far as the correct artwork is concerned.

And to be clear I have no allegiance or affiliation with the polish pirate dude. Just posting as another option.

I’m going to list my TZ. I’d be grateful for opinions on a fair price in today’s market. Location, Northeast.

- All original game in good condition; very clean all throughout
- All PF metal parts have been chrome plated (nice touch).
- 100% working. No credit dot. Plays super (see vid)
- Cabinet in great shape. Minimal fade. Some minor touch ups. There is a stain on bottom of cab (not visible in normal use, obv)
- No pf wear except for one small blemish near slot machine scoop (see pic)
- Just cleaned, waxed, new rubber.
- Off-board battery holder
- A number of the typical mods
- w/manual, new spare powerball, other parts

Gameplay video:

Looks like a nice game. Looking at the archived game sales it looks like they're selling around 9k. It might be tough to sell for more with all the remake rumors and the soft market.
