Quoted from bigd1979:When u get a chance put the pop caps in the correct order they sld match up with upper playfield
Check out the original flyer from Bally, that's not actually the case. The yellow always went upper right

Ted was quoted (though oddly, I cannot find it at the moment) that the flyer was incorrect.
Regardless, I like arranging them so if you get the skillshot, the corresponding pop bumper is lit. (Yellow - Yellow. Orange - Orange & Yellow, Red - All three). But honestly, you can do it any way you want.
Quoted from Tkaye:The reason was I sold my reimport which was a great players example for a restored one to keep forever! TZ is a keeper!
I would do the same!

Exactly y wouldn't u want it to match the skill shot is beyond me

I have also heard about it... the colors of the pop bumpers on the flyer are not in the correct meant position. ... Anyway, I like mine all orange... the only differential being my lamp colors follows the order that Coyote posted (yellow, orange, red ).... it gives a nice subtle effect!

Interesting, have a pic?
I'm not into mods on my TZ, but the one thing I DID do was change the skirts to match the cap color.

I'll try to take a picture that bests capture the effect... like I said, it's very subtle, so I don't know if it will show that much.... And my skirts are all orange as well
I have owned one of these for a couple years now and played it since I was a kid and never realized the Golden Earring song was the one used in this game. Just never put 2 and 2 together.
Wow, replacing magnet cores is harder than I expected! Only through a combination of the rawest brute strength, a big new screwdriver, pliers, and my anvil happening to have a hole/edge perfectly shaped for the task was I able to break both free. This is after a couple hours of experimentation, I'm exhausted.

Tried it with just a vise and screwdriver, no luck. Then I slightly heated mine with a butane torch. Came out smooth.

What was wrong with your magnet?
Quoted from Jgaltr56:What was wrong with your magnet?
My cores were worn, the right one had a huge divot in it where the ball rolled through it so I just decided to replace both cores.

Hi guys, can anyone point me to a topic or help with a problem I just got with my tz? All my magnets do not work except for the right mini pf one. They fail in test mode and game play. Thanks in advance
Freakin' excited as hell to be part of this club! Got mine 2 days ago.
Works fine, needs a bit of work though, but that's okay considering how much I paid for it
Has full LED lighting, but I ordered a few LEDs to make some changes that I liked. I've also ordered the Camera mod, the 1955 Ford Thunderbird mod, the Lamp-post mod, the Slot Machine mod, and the Clock mod.
Apart from that I've also made a DIY scoop LED light mod cause the ones off eBay are such a rip-off.
They need a bit of work too since I don't have proper rectification and the reverse voltage might be killing my LED slowly so I'll have to get onto that ASAP.

I had the same problem with mine when it came in last week. Pretty certain it was fuse F101 on the cpu, it was blown. Changed it and all the mag's have been working fine since.
I have a question - I played the game before yesterday and when I got "Battle the Power" the game killed the playfield flippers (which, from what I know, is what it's meant to do). Now when I get BtP the flippers on the playfield work and the "magnet flippers" seem to have less power.
Did something break or... ?
Quoted from snowvictim:Mine work when only BtP is on. Any recommendations for a fix?
Check for broken slash lose or incorrect switches.
When the game has flagged a switch bad in relation to the right ramp, the flippers well stay activated "in case" the ball didn't make it to / out of the mini-playfield. (Because if it did, and the game didn't know, the ball would re-enter the plaplayfield without the user being able to flip.)

I've got like 6 switches that need to be looked into (that's what test report told me anyway).
Is switch 85 the ball kicker behind the piano? If the diagnostics say it has an error(its open) how do you close a switch? Physically the switch looks good.
Picked up this HUO gem. I don't think it's ever even had a rubber replaced. Ultra clean throughout. No heat damage on pcb's. You could eat off any part of this machine.

Only the transformer gives it's age away
Other pics, looks like you unboxed it yesterday
Gorgeous!! Congrats!!

Pretty sure its a Frankensteined twilight zone. Meaning it's a sample/prototype play field but everything else sugguests it's a regular model.. After some tweaking and some love it's playing like a champ.

Love this game
How do you know it has a proto PF?
Pop bumper area has the 2 small caps/ plugs where "posts" I'm guessing once were.. And the ball lock insert is green.
That's not necessarily prototype. Does it have the third magnet? How about a pic of the mini PF? What's the production date, should be sticker on back of backbox.
Does not have 3rd magnet, mini playfield has the "flip here" text.. So maybe it's just a early model? Manufacture date on the cabinet is 5/18/93

SAMPLE. Not Prototype.

It sounds like a very late sample, or (more likely) very early production field.
That's earlier than mine, June 93, I have green lock light and plugs in bumper area. You need some mods now

This machine will be up for sale soon. Seems like it has a ball trough switch issue. Did not have time to look into it. As soon as that is fixed I will probably be putting it up for sale.
Read my mind Rierman
Mirror blades
Clock housing... Probably new board too when the original gives out
Piano/camera
More LEDs
Maybe a backboard decal
Stuff adds up quick

Thank you very much. Solved the problem. I was very sceptical as in the manual it says F101 is for the lhs flipper and not used. The only mistake you had is that its found on the driver pcb and not the cpu, but I knew what you meant. Thanks again for your help mate
Finished putting that TZ playfield protector on. Some were interested in the results.
Results are very good! Been playing it for a couple of weeks and no issues.
Ball play was a little different initially. I hesitated to wax because some people said they scratched their playfield. I eventually waxed it anyways (staying away from the edges so as not to get wax under the playfield) and had no problems with scratching. Now the ball travels much the same speed as it did without the playfield protector. Now I can play worry free of the playfield getting beat up...nice feeling.
I checked my pinballs for wear before playing my initial games on the new surface. So far it is resisting well to any scratches (even at the outhole). Game looks like new for 150$ and a bit of work. Overall i'm very happy I did this and may also do it for my STTNG.
Quoted from bigd1979:I have one like that also its the gem of my collection nice pickup
Thanks. Wish I could keep it but no space to put it and I want to use the money to fund other things. Ball trough issue is fixed. It was just a gummed up pivot. Will be posting this in marketplace soon or putting it on ebay.
