Twilight Zone Bally, 1993

So working on my friends sound board and he’s got no sound on it. Swapped in sound board into my machine to isolate if the problem is on the sound board it’s self and it is.

Capacitors are all good, give a hmmm when it starts but other than that no sound. Everything seems to be connected on the board. Reseated the U14,U15 and U18. Still nothing.

My guess is maybe the one of the Sound roms aren’t working.

Would it be wise to try my working sound roms in his?

Or any other idea why there would be no sound?

Does it make the power on bong?

You can try different ROMs. I doubt that will yield anything.
Check the various power levels on the board.
After that, since there is not sound at all, I might suspect the amp.
You can diode test the amp, red on center leg. Black on all others. Compare to your known good board.

Then it's something to do with the amplifier. Switching ROMs won't change a thing in this case.

Yup. Check input voltages and caps in that area, though it IS common for that amp to toast itself.

Put in the new amp in U1 new caps... still no sound. I’m stumped... any other ideas?
