Does the menu display on the colordmd if you press the menu button on the back of the colordmd? You want to check and make sure it's configured for WPC.

When you plugged in your old dmd display, did you make sure the power was connected? It uses a different connection than colordmd display. Make sure it's connected to the board and the display. I would also check fuses just in case. If you cannot get original dmd to work then might be board problem. It looks like colordmd display is working since the menu comes up and displays ok.
