I bought the #545 blinking bulbs from Pinball Life (their part is pbl_24-8825) and they don't work correctly in the designated backbox flashing locations. Instead of blinking like the game tells them to, they just blink repeatedly about a second apart. I know this is incorrect because there are some blinking bulbs in there that already work and I swapped them around and tried them in several locations.

Did I get a bad set of bulbs, or did I order the wrong ones? Hmm...

Makes sense. Too bad the PL 545s blink repeatedly every second compared to the longer and seemingly random delay of originals.

Quoted from dsuperbee:

I would just do the switch to the 455 style myself. I am watching a buddy's TZ, and most of his original 545s are burned out. Waiting to get the word from him if he wants to switch to 455, or buy some 545s.
For me personally, the 455 switch is great. Low cost for the sockets and the bulbs, and it is so common, it doesn't effect the resale price of the game (for those who worry about such things)

Do 455s blink every second, or is there more of a delay? The slow / random looking blink on TZ adds an eerie effect to the TZ art.

Quoted from burningman:

not sure, but the ones that Cointaker sell are slow/random...looks great on my TZ and TAF and did exactly what I wanted them to do.

For clarification, are you referring to Cointaker 455s, or 545s?
I am hoping my only option isn't to convert the backbox to 455s!
Thanks

Quoted from dsuperbee:

455's are MUCH more random. If you have almost any sys11 game (or a friend does) they use the 455 blinkers.

Good to know, thanks
