My newly acquired haunted TZ is challenging my technical knowledge. I think I've been power-balled by my new machine!
I'm trying to solve an issue with my TZ where fuse F114 blows at startup with only J101 connected to it. I thought I might have a problem with one of the bridge rectifiers or big caps on the driver board so I swapped the current TZ driver board with one from my working Gilligan Island machine. Again I only plugged in J101 and the Gilligan Driver board also immediately blew F114. I checked the voltage on J101 and it appears high. Pins 1 and 2 for a fraction of a second measure 9VAC and after that second they measure ~13 when they should measure 9 and Pins 5 and 6 consistently measure 17 instead of 13.3.
I am now thinking maybe I have a problem with either the transformer or varistor.
Can a bad varistor result in high voltage on J101?
Does it make sense that the 17 VAC voltage on pins 5 and 6 will blow fuse F114?
Thanks!
