Quoted from Horrorpins:

Definitely not the norm. Still a great deal. And will be a great deal for years at this price. Just not a market for it near you right now. It will happen. Too good of a game to good of a price too pass up.

Sadly, 40 days on the market now as it was listed and now relisted.

The Market tells no lies.

I also originally thought it would sell quick when listed the first time and pre Covid lock downs.

Seems pros have dropped also, but the premiums across the board are not selling even with prices that 6mo ago everyone would say was a great price.

Quoted from jalpert:

This game has always been a tough sell. I bought a pro and loved it so much I upgraded to premium. The premium is worlds better. People bitch about the up/down ramp, like thousands of other shots it needs to be dialed in, but it isn’t bad.
There are so many ways to play it, great rules.

I love the game (prefer Pro to Premium), but the reality is that Pros at 4k modded out are the typical price point. Many prefer the pro (just a preference but that is the general consensus; with the typical vocal prem/LE crew that already own).

I see this as 2 things:
-Anyone looking to buy a TWD likely already has one.
-Those that are thinking about it are buying this, are doing the same decision tree as when they were new. It just comes down to $1750 extra for a premium. For many that love the game, that is a big price difference.

The last modded premium I saw sell was for $5600 and that was a while ago.
Looking through forum/sales history and it is littered with 'red ticket' (unsold examples). TWD resale is hampered by its own success since there are tons out there and the NIB Stern crowd tend to cycle through games (even the good ones)

My personal thought process is that premium on secondary needs to be at most 1500 over a pro model.
Honest feedback is drop the price to $5500 and I bet it is sold even in COVID era.

Jason does not show his collection, but my real feedback would be to keep the game. It is probably the best Stern game made in the past 8 years.

Quoted from Jason_Jehosaphat:

Thanks, all of you, for your encouragement and insight. I agree that among Stern DMD's from 2012 to 2016, TWD is a tougher sell. The theme is resolutely *not* family friendly and the layout is diabolically frustrating to all but skilled players. I would disagree though with Whysnow re: the prevailing price point for a modded TWD PRO sitting at just $4K. MET and TWD PROs with color displays routinely fetch $5K, not $4K. HUO DMD Premiums in stock trim were bringing $6K all day as recently as a month ago. As to how much more a HUO Premium should fetch than a HUO PRO, all other things being equal, I would say $1.5K is a fair number. The two versions are separated by $1.8K when new. If we figure a HUO TWD PRO should bring $4.3K in the Corona Market, the Premium should bring $5.8K - and it does not. There are plenty of threads about the Novel Corona Pinball Market, and yet scant few sellers are paying any attention to the realities of supply/demand. Obviously there are dozens of sale games pouring onto Pinside each week right now, and obviously people whose incomes are disrupted by the pandemic will be buying fewer games, etc. So, we have a glut. Fine. And yet I'm among the *very* few sellers who are desperate enough to offer their pins priced at a discount. How could that be? But "desperate" is the wrong word. Try "realistic." I don't know that I'm quite heading to $5.5K, but I'm getting closer. I would much prefer to trade this beautiful game. Oh, and as for my "collection," this is it.

GLWS.

All I can say is you are nearing 50 days on open market and the game is not sold.
That tells us all where the price is on TWDpremium HUO currently; lower than what you have it listed.

If you were in a small market or there were some other anomaly, then maybe there is an X factor, but twin cities, prime pinball selling time (tax time and pre Covid when you listed), and game looks nice means the demand is just not there at your current price.

Again, GLWS.

Come on. I don’t care how long it’s been on the market, this is a good price.
Obviously price is important, but there are other factors. Bad luck could be one, now financial instability for a lot of people.
It’s great when the seller has that perfect buyer and everyone is happy. Sometimes, there is just nobody near the game looking. Yes, it could be price, but it is not in this case.
Also. The premium is vastly superior. I suggest you play an example that is properly dialed in. Really, it’s not that hard to do, but some people just don’t want to take the time.
I’ve owned so many games that are so much harder to dial in. Ironically, Dialed In is one of them, that damn scoop shot off the side flipper just doesn’t stick.

Sorry Jason for continuing the convo in your FS thread, even though it is partly about market in general and games that are sitting. Hopefully any bump is a good bump and helps keep this in eyes so someone takes it.

Sure, it is a good price... just not a price anyone is buying at for the past 40+ days (i.e. you found the top of the market where nobody is currently buying). I personally think this is the hard reality that many will see on the premium (meaning high dollar and common modern games) secondary. That portion of the market has been saturated with games and dropping for the past year. Now toss on financial instability and health concerns, and the high end goes down more. If people want to sell games, then prices come down till they do (or people just decide to keep). After 40 days if a game is not sold, then a price reduction could make it interesting for someone.

Anecdotally, the Covid stuff actually has people at home and more interested in buying games it seems. However, they are mostly looking for sub 5k is what I have found. Since lockdown I have had 3x the number of people reach out and wanting their first pin, but they want to spend 3k on avg.

As for TWD premium, I have played 2 very well tuned in examples. I personally just cant get over the poor ramp design (even when tuned in; it lacks the smoothness of the pro and then that fun repeatable shot becomes a clunk to a cheap toy underneath) and the austin powers crossbow mech.
If someone could hack in a pro set of ramps and keep everything else then we could have the best of both worlds. Until then, Pro is the better of the 2 games.

GLWS and if you drop the price then I suggest just hitting your bottom dollar to peak interest (the $100 off at a time think rarely works as a sale tactic IME).
