TWD Pre Crossbow issue

33% of the time that the ball goes in the crossbow, it moves 1/4" and stops. Ball search usually finds it. The ball seems to sit pretty far behind the switch. I remember hearing about this issue when the game first came out. Is there a permanent fix other than just tweaking the switch? Thanks.
