I think he was just saying exactly that, "I don't blame you". That has nothing to do with how he intended the game to play. You honestly think Steve Richie is going to bash a paying customer for altering a game he designed to make it more enjoyable to them? No, because he is a reasonable person who I am sure appreciates anyone to enjoys his games the way they choose to. Personally I like TWD as is. It's challenging as hell, and that fits the theme. You are fighting for your life to survive!

This is also coming from someone who has to pay to play this game. I can only play it on location. The difficulty keeps me coming back.

Since I've had my LE,everyone that comes over plays 3 or 4 games on it & is done because the left outlane keeps sucking down almost every ball in no time. Now that it has the new posts,it's still super fast, but you can control it better by nudging. 100% improvement. Just ask the few people in a couple weeks that I'm making a set for. I guarantee not 1 person will say they liked it better without them.

Quoted from Breadfan:

Hmm. I talked to Steve Ritchie about me adding star posts to my AC/DC BIB & he said "I don't blame ya"so what's that say about how the designer intended?

I think that Steve truly did not blame you for making the game more enjoyable for you and your guests.

I think that if Steve intended star posts to be on ACDC BIB it would have shipped with them installed.

Quoted from Eskaybee:

All Borg pins are left sided drain monsters. we should have a poll; what Borg pin drains the most on the left outlane?
BBH
IM
TRON
XMEN
MET
TWD
Dam all those are left outlane drain whores. My vote goes to BBH or MET

Wow! That is a great observation. I had never thought of that before, but it's absolutely true.

Weird!

BBH is especially brutal; the deer will occasionally escort the ball straight down the left outlane for you.

Now all all your scores get an * next to them.

Quoted from gweempose:

Just checked the audits on my game ...
Left Drains - 125 (32%)
Center Drains - 215 (56%)
Right Drains - 46 (12%)
It goes down the left outlane nearly three times as often as the right outlane.

This would seem to be consistent with the games I've played on the pro. Center drains are by far the most common way to lose your ball.

While the left drains are definitely something that occurs on this pin, I haven't found it to be as bad as the other left drains on Borg games referenced above, particularly BBH and IM, and to a lesser degree, MET. ACDC's left outlane is way worse than TWD imo.

I find it a little strange to have all these discussions about the brutality of the left drains on TWD and how to "fix" it.

How many TWD owners are actually doing this?

what is avg ball time on these bad left drain TWD?

curious how it compares with typical ball times on other games.

Can't nudge and save the ball on the left drains on my TWDLE. I can do it on all my other machines.

New & improved mod/fix. Built like a brick $h!t house!! Easy to open or close the gap as desired. No holes drilled.

Well done! I'll try something like that too. Coz that left drain really frustrates me!

#62 4 years ago

Looks like there was a post hole drilled in the prototype. I see nifty rubber there too

Remember Avengers? They gaffled up the inserts on the Pro. Same for the red inserts on ACDC, goofed up Tron Gem shot & Xmen Wolverine on the LE.

Maybe the designer intended a post & gomez cut it like he wanted to cut the crossbow just to save $0.34 per game sold like Metallica spinners? Perhaps it's just some shit they forgot with the emails back/forth during the proof process?

Perhaps it was scrapped to make a somewhat shallow bash game more difficult?

Deep thoughts...

Here's the first set of plastic L & R no drill drain save posts. Metal took way too long to make & I think these may be just as strong. The black piece is lexan so no need to worry about breaking or sagging over time. Let me test these for a while & then I'll start a for sale thread if anyone's interested.

Yes please

#65 4 years ago

personally i find the frequent center drains coming right out of the pops more irritating than anything on this pin!

So this must be what Brady and Belichick do to their pins....

Yep would love a set of these too.

I have no abnormal drain issues on my TWD Pro, my IM is way worse. The other Pro I played (thanks again Black Rose) had zero drain issues . Is there a special version of this machine that has this problem ?

Of course there is a big difference but you might as well put a rubber band across the outlane. Or buy a LOTR if you want long ball times.
