This could be a shot in the dark but it worked for me a long time ago when I had an issue with the crossbow mech. It can't hurt to try.

I used white lithium grease typically used for garage door rollers and such. Smear it with a saturated q-tip where the metal crossbow makes contact with the metal mechanism it folds out of and back into, then operate the crossbow a few times to work the grease in there.

If your issue is still switch related, sorry that's a whole different thing.
