Joining the club. This game is pretty great, I'm just learning all the ins-and-outs. Luckily, my machine doesn't have any sdtm problems. Looking forward in dumping even more money on it with mods (even though there were a ton on it to begin with). I'm starting by making my own topper (not looking to spend 400 on the stern one). Anyone have experience wiring leds from head cabinet? Anywhere on board that I can wire seperate flashers or do I need to go to playfield to tap into? Thanks for the help. Stay in the house Coral!!!

Quoted from Lermods:

I tied into the flashers inside the barn for my topper.

Thanks Lermods! Yeah that one seems doable, but I was wanting to do a couple of them. The problem is that I'm not used to new flasher connections sandwiched like they are. I'm used to alligator clipping or soldering into nice open spaces on bally/Williams or even stern pros. I wish I could just alligator clip or tie in somewhere on board so that I don't have wires hanging everywhere especially when pulling out playfield for repair.

Spent some hours working on The Dead tonight adding some mods. Just waiting for my Pinball Refinery EL prison wire to top it off. What do you all think about the topper I added with custom lighting (50 dollars total compared to 400 tank topper)?

Check out TWD RV Topper with custom lighting. Soft white GI to light the RV and red/green flashers to light it up. LEDs are from Comet Pinball

Quoted from Manic:

Looking good man... nice job. Btw are those the red sling/guide protectors from PBL? If so do you have elevate them a bit with washers to avoid having the crossbow hit them?

i think they were from pinball life, they were on machine when I got it. I had to pull the protector back as far as it would go then screw into place in order to avoid swing of crossbow. It's close but works great.

Quoted from crwjumper:

Nice modding! Love the custom topper and Rick shooting the walker across the p.f. Where did you get the Woodbry sign? I've been looking for one.

Thanks! Woodbury sign came with machine, you may be able to ask original owner Forensicd. The sign you can get many places still, but just looked and can't find one for sale with the LED in back so I'm not sure. The light behind it really makes a difference too.

I just hooked up mine and noticed that the connectors do not go on based on correct plastic connection. Rather, you need to make sure colors are coordinated through the connector. So black goes through to black, orange to Orange. Also make sure you push down the metal splice pin all the way. I thought mine were down all the way but they didn't light until I pushed down all the way.

Lose the green and blue mid playfield. Light some GI red upper two thirds and drains plastics. GI warm or sunlight mid playfield, slings, and some back GI. For a little color separation add blues to back panel. Throw a couple red comet matrix strips in the drain and behind the ramps and you’re all set.

Damn looking good now. Add some blue in backboard above ramps and prison and I’ll think you’ll be happy. Nice job!

Quoted from mannymasy:

Thanksssssss, 3 lights Up prisión?

Put all the backboard lights in Blue then swap with whites as needed.
