Made it into the club today. Twd premium. This game is tough! And holy crap that bicycle girl ramp is steep! Loving having this in my collection so far! Any tips for a newb twd owner?

Ok so im new to TWD. My game room is carpeted and the games sink deep into the carpet. Nudging is possible but it seems TWD may require some more aggressive nudges/sliding.

For those if you with carpet in your game room. Do you have suggestions on ways to allow the game to slide better. I dont want to stress the cabinet etc. ive tried the sliders that slip on the legs. But the carpet still swallows up the leg and slider.

Had a screaming hot shot up the right ramp. The ball as it came back down the left side hit that bump in the ramp and it flew up over the red flasher area and land in the crossbow. Cross bow mode wasnt active.

Game went into a mode to clear the crossbow, but it fired the ball early and right back into the left side return ramp and it smacked the glass and then went back into crossbow to repeat.

After several times of this happening, i took the glass of and put the ball outta the crossbow and into the shooter lane.

Anyone else have this happen before?

There is an X insert on each inlane.
One of them will be lit after you kill a couple walkers (just hitting shots)

Once its lit you control which one is lit by flipping either flipper. It will swap back and forth.

Basically it acts as a shot multiplier. That grows as you hit more walkers from 2x to 3x to 4x etc.

You control whether you cash it in or not by controlling if you roll over the lit insert.

Roll over the lit X insert and then the next shot you hit will score 2x 3x 4x what that shot would have scored otherwise.

For ex: if you are in barn mode and X is up to 2x. You roll over the lit X insert and then nail the barn shot. You will get 2x the barn jackpot you would have normally gotten.

i picked up a premium few months ago. Have noticed this happen a few times. Ball bounces back into trough and sits on top of the one on the VUK. Game doesnt seem to want to try to clear it.

I assumed it was a loose or flakey optic sensor.

Havent spent much time debugging but i did have some time today and put the trough through its paces. I expected the opto switch for the second ball in the trough not to register. But it was working 100 percent.

Anybody see this with their TWD prem/LE?

Had my TWD prem for about 3 months. I have to say its been kicking my butt. I enjoy it but there are lots of quick games and cheap drains. I know. Play better. Hehe

Today i did my first maintenance:
Installed cliffys in shooter lane
Installed yoyokopter save posts. Hoping this helps with cheap drains
Moved in outlane posts also help cheap drains
Wiped down and novis 1 the playfield and ramps.

Couple things of note:
A while back i reported my game sometimes doesnt clear the trough in game when you have a bounce back and the ball falls back into the trough. That hasnt happened in a while and i couldnt repeat it in the trough test. The trough itself doesnt have any broken welds or anything. Guess ill just keep an eye out for that to happen again.

My bicycle girl ramp air ball plastic is cracking right where the game slams the ramp up into it. I guess ill go see if i still have some plastic left over from making metallica sparky air ball protectors. That plastic looks thicker ill have to see if i can find some of the same thickness. Does anyone else have this issue? Seems like maybe some thin metal like a cliffy would be good to reinforce that edge of the plastic where the ramp hits it.

Almost forgot to mention that on my crossbow the plunger is “loose”. By that i mean that after launching the ball it pretty much hangs out in the launched position and doesnt seem to have a spring or anything that pulls the plunger back. It seems to work 100%. But feela kinda sloppy? If that makes any sense. Im used to mechs having a spring or gravity that retuns the plunger back to place after the coil fires. Maybe this is normal with the crossbow since it is horizontal?

Made up a replacement left ramp air ball plastic. Mine was cracked. Also put a small piece of foam on the bottom side of the rubber bump stop for the ramp. That keeps the ramp flap from slamming up into the airball plastic as much. Should help keep the new plastic in good shape.

I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but there is a audio clip with a female voice that plays usually with a quick drain. “This is bullshit” in the celand code. I’d like to swap that out for the awesome clip from Simon when he was about to level the trash lady’s people a couple seasons ago. He had a long drawn out “BUUULLLLL. SHIIIITAH”.

Single handed may be my favorite sound bite from the show.

The pancake magnet has the coils going around this core. I took a bit of the tape off to inspect. Besides a screw which holds all the wire down, cannot see much else.

I noticed when it started to go wrong The ball was caught in the exact centre of the magnet and just released (pictured).

Most times sdtm. So ball in centre, bad. Until recently When it was working over the past 2 weeks, the ball was always caught to one side so that when it was dropped it did not go sdtm. Something changed.
Anyway as I said turned the coil 180 degrees so wire out the bottom, adjusted core and it works.

One weird thing, when it releases it now most time gives a slight upkick. BUT if I try to do the flippers on the crowbar hit, it rockets sdtm every time.
So it’s not perfect but it works for me for now.
If I could buy a new core or coil to fix it 100%, I would but I don’t think it would make any difference.
The takeaway from this is that I think everyone's machine will be different. This is not a solution. Just a record of my trials. Wish I had a definitive solution to share. I will let you know if it starts behaving badly again.

I’m with you. Rotating a circle around the core shouldn’t effect how the magnet works. I’m assuming a circular magnetic field.

However.... that metal bracket/plate running north/south on the bottom of the Assembly seems that it might have an effect? Is it touching the core? Is it A ferrous/magnetic metal like steel. Or something like aluminum that isn’t magnetic? Could it be shifted or rotated one way or the other to effect the ball release?

Have you checked the machines level to see if it changed slightly? I could see if it were off left or right a bit that the ball would sit to that side when stuck to the magnet.

Just some ideas to try.

Set my x champion high score today with a 41m riot shot that felt so so good.

I need to review the riot mode rules cause the mode stopped with this shot. Dunno if the timer happened to run out or if i completed it. Or if that is even possible to complete. Didnt even know there was a multikill going on that shot too. But the high score pages says so

How do you like the LED version of the color DMD in your TWD? I've seen only the LCD version in TWD.

It’s my only game with a color dmd. It had it when I bought it earlier this year. I like the colorized dots. Definitely adds function to the game. I like the saturation of color of the led version. I e never seen the lcd version in person.

I may get one one day and try it see which is better. I’ll def post some pics. Both of my other games (met pro and SMVE) people say have good colorized dots. So I can play around and see which is best I guess.

Set a new GC score and #walkers and barn high score. Got really close to starting second Horde mode And I think i had bloodbath twice as well. So fun. Just seemed like i was in the zone and was hitting shots with ease.

When I got my TWD prem last year, it had a colorDMD(LED version) in it. I have swapped it for a colorDMD(LCD version set on scan mode).

I posted pics in this thread so you can go back and see what it looks like.

Led version
Pro
Direct drop in replacement for stern dmd
Con
Grainy led resolution not ideal for TWDs dmd content.

LCD version
Pro
Flexibility of picking different modes small dots, large dots, square dots, etc.
Con
The lcd has spacers that make it sit back 1/2 inch or so away from the hole in the dmd panel. If you look at it from extreme angle you can see back into the back box some. If you had speaker lights that would probably have light bleed through. Can put foam strips or something to block the light.

IMHO, the colorDMD LCD set to scan mode is definitely the way to go for TWD.

I stuck with scan lines on my TWD. Seems to give it a gritty texture that’s suits the pin better. Color dmd lcd is the way to go though for sure. Had the color dmd led on mine when I bought it. Swapped it to my SWVE.

Did a re-decal on the right side head of my TWD prem. When i bought it the decal and the black plastic under the decal were both peeling badly and could not be flattened down.

First time for me but it came out pretty good

Finally got around to installing a couple mods to my TWD prem now that i got the head decal replaced. Figured i might as well do that while the game was pull out of the line and was fully accessible.

Installed tower mod from mezelmods and the crate mod from @vimtoman

Have to say the crate mod is the better of the two.

Tower definitely adds some 3d to the dark tower on the artwork plastics. And dresses up that part of the game for sure.

But the crate is pretty cool. Easy to install and he even included a “y” on the end of the connector for power so you dont have to buy an adapter even if you have other stuff like a color dmd plugged in up there under the right flipper.

The crate is made extremely well and just adds some visuals to that area. Very cool and highly recommend.

Vimtoman has great communication even responding when it was several months from purchase to me installing and asking questions.

I was on ball 3 and had 5 weapons solid lit. I got the ball in the Woodbury shot and one of the prizes was “start multikill”. Or something to that effect. I was able to get that and the 6th weapon flashing and it lit the Woodbury shot to start horde.

That had never happened to me before. I’d only seen 1000000 or 2000000 as the most valuable prize.

Of course I drained and didn’t start horde. FML.

Set a new horde high score on my twd prem. Over all high score #1 as well. Love this game

Can someone explain how to start SIEGE. I read the tilt forums rules just now. Seems like it just starts siege by hitting the prison.

Yesterday i had the glass off of my premium and was doing a light cleaning and replaceing balls (they were magnetized). Ive never been that great at prison MB. And didnt know how to even get to siege…. So i played around a bit

After copious ammounts of alternating hitting blue arrow shots and then the prison got the riot shot to light for super jp. (I have never seen this with glass on). Then continued hitting ramps and prison back and forth eventuall it said siege is lit on the dmd…. But the insert wasnt lit…. Or flashing or anything.

Pretty sure i hit the prison at least once and i didnt see a seige mode start.

What am i missing?

Oh that explains it. I had two balls in hand and couldnt get siege to start. So just put them both in the trough at same time and the endnof ball sequence played out.

Sounds like i should have let one drain to end prison mb and then it would have lit/started.

Thanks so much. Ill work on making that happen with glass on and in a year i might get there. Haha.

On purpose On-the-fly “bicycle kick” shot from the right flipper into woodbury to start Horde. Kept horde going for a while as well

Finished game with just under 500k

Game feels good when ya get things going good!

It happens rarely to me. Shot up the barn shot around back hits a pop and continues up into the rollovers/tower target area. Pretty fun.

Twd version of the DP shnikt shot. Hahah

My plastic on the left ramp broke too. I made a new one and then i stuck a little piece of dead ball foam to the underside of the rubber stopper the ramp flap hits so it effectively stops the flap just a bit early and keeps it from slaming up into the plastic.

This “tunatorial” is very detailed look at each aspect of this game. Playing multiple games focusing on each mode or function or multiball.

Perhaps its more than a quick and dirty overview but it covers the game well
