Just wanted to post a link to an idea for a mod I had recently. I have spoke to a couple of well known Pinsiders about making the mod for me personally when my TWD Prem arrives. If there is enough interest for a potential run to be made for anyone interested that would be awesome.

Just trying to gauge potential interest first and any feedback/suggestions before moving forward.

Quoted from PW79:

Picked up a set of boney flipper bats, experimenting with red titan silicon rings & found some $5 cling decals on amazon for the hand prints.
I'm close to temporarily installing one of my Color DMD's into TWD to run it in B&W to match the B&W inserts, cabinet art & comic books of course.
Tho I hope the hint dropped on Color DMD's FB page was in regards to TWD

Love the hand prints on the glass, how did you do that? Looks awesome! do you have the blood splatter armour too?

Wanted to through a question out there to all the TWD owners, might help me make a sold decision again on a TWD.

How do current TWD owners rate the Pro vs Prem/LE? I know over in the Star Trek threads a lot of people feel the prem and especially the LE feel like worthy upgrades, as a result I pulled the trigger on an LE, but what would be the answer of that question with TWD owners? I had a premium coming that fell through when seller sold from under me to someone else even after I sent a deposit, oh well sh*t happens, I now have another lined up but also got offered a pro and now I am looking between the two like watching a game of tennis trying to decide which to pull the trigger on

Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

Had game set on five ball and killed 115 x 2 = 230 walkers. Yes the video is quite a reward. I guess lms resets game. Too bad the lms insert won't stay lit to mark the occasion.

Other than Victory Laps what else could there be?
Pretty awesome you beat TWD 5 ball or not that must of been one hell of a game

Quoted from Litedpinballmods:

we are working on a new bash toy for in the barn.

Hi Dan, if your talking about the Prison/Barn, take a look at my thread here:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/twd-prison-mod-idea

I am pretty swamped at the moment with my house renovation so I have no time for my mod at present, but if you free you can do my idea justice and you have the time then by all means feel free to release it or something similar to the community.

Where did you get those speaker grills from those are sweet!

#4022 2 years ago
Quoted from dzoomer:

Thx! And thx to other members who posted about them a long time ago I knew about them.
I got the black ones.

Awesome thanks dzoomer

Quoted from wtuttle:

You mean you don't want to pay $90 for the 'glowing' mod someone is selling?!

Could be worse could be a glowing Twinkie for $90

Awesome video of Lyman talking about all aspects of TWD from rules, his ideas while doing the code and how he plays TWD, oh and he plays the hell out of it, pretty cool, check it out:

Quoted from neverahighscore:

It's a different finish. Done in a smooth black with blood splatter decals applied.

Other than directly from Stern does anyone else sell the blood splatter armour?

#4071 2 years ago

Could someone give me the measurements of the prison door opening (basically where the big giant head sits) not near the game at the moment so if someone could do this it would be awesome!

Congratulations on your 1st NIB and what a pin literally picked one of Stern's best as your 1st NIB that's going to tough to beat with NIB no.2

Quoted from Shapeshifter:

I put LED in because the fit is just fantastic.
But didn't like the look of it with game switched off and just couldn't adjust the brightness to my satisfaction.
The LCD is a clunky fit but HIRES LCD does look excellent.
I so wanted to love LED but it's LCD for me from now on.

There is a gel/plastic filter you can buy that darkens the LED a little and makes it look a little better when switched off, maybe check those out I believe they are cheap, may help you love that LED for only a few bucks extra.

#4501 2 years ago
Quoted from dzoomer:

It really bothers some people that the LED doesn't go black like the LCD when off. Seriously.
http://www.colordmd.com/LED_advertisement.jpg

Yeah I have never understand the complaints. Pretty much looks like a DMD to me especially with a tinted/dark gel/screen over it.

You might want to edit this post. The pic is tiny and doesn't zoom and the YT video is private.

Agreed, I have damn good vision and I cant really see the mod itself in the vid or the photo above, would be nice to be able to see the detail you have put into the mod.

Anyone close to their game able to tell me the measurements of the prison door area, height and width? thank you

Can anyone who brought an LE confirm for me did TWDLE’s come with Sterns metal/plastic cabinet leg protectors out of the box?

#5383 2 years ago
Quoted from MikeS:

They did. Pretty sure they are plastic.

Quoted from gweempose:

They for sure came with the protectors. I think every single Stern game since around ACDC has shipped with them installed.

Thanks guys for the replies!

No Pro seems to have got updated code as well here are the read me files in full:

PRO V1.60.0 - Nov. 30, 2017
=======================

- The CROSSBOW mode was allowed to start during HORDE and LAST MAN
STANDING. This has been corrected.
- Added dynamic stacking of background display/music for PRISON and
WELL modes, such that the player will see/hear the backgrounds that
correspond to the last mode that was started.
- Changed background lamp effect priorities so more important lamps
could be seen (i.e. CDC lamps over PRISON lamps).
- Trough ball serve at the start of HORDE / LAST MAN STANDING was not
being held off long enough for the ball-in-play to be cleared from the
shooter lane. This has been corrected.
- LAST MAN STANDING was allowed to start during multiball (PRISON, WELL,
BLOOD BATH) and HORDE. This has been corrected.
- The accessibility of the WOODBURY SKILL SHOT awards is reset when all
of the awards have been collected.
- Fixed a problem with the WOODBURY SKILL SHOT where none of the good
awards would show up unless they were all lit on one ball.
- Lowered scoring for LAST MAN STANDING.
- Removed shot scoring cap for LAST MAN STANDING.
- Added sounds for PRISON MULTIBALL victory laps and WELL MULTIBALL
victory laps.
- Fixed a bug in the auto-percentaged extra ball module that would
sometimes set the extra ball value (walker kills) to an out of range
value.
- The background lamp effect for SIEGE was allowed to run when the awards
for SIEGE were not allowed (due to other rules, e.g. HORDE, etc.).
This has been corrected.
- Changed the number of target bank completions to light modes for
COMPETITION to always be 1.
- PRISON MULTIBALL super jackpot now starts at 1M instead of 0.
- PRISON MULTIBALL victory lap jackpot now starts at 500K instead of 0.
- Added SIEGE status to PRISON MULTIBALL background display effect.
- CROSSBOW scores carryover ball to ball changed from NO to YES. This
should help make CROSSBOW FRENZY more valuable.
- HORDE background now renders the text over the advancing walkers.
- Added an adjustment (default=YES) to HORDE that relights all killed
walkers with the exception of the walker that is associated with the
shot that was just made.
- Fixed a bug in the HORDE mode which would cause the game to reset when
the last walker was killed to advance to the next level.
- 2x playfield status now displayed in the shot multiplier HSTD roll.
- Added and adjustment to light "ESCAPE" for HORDE after a certain number
of levels have been completed (default: 3 levels).
- After the required number of levels have been completed, when the
player is down to 1 ball, the WOODBURY shot is lit for ESCAPE.
- Shooting the WOODBURY shot with ESCAPE lit allows the player to
either continue to fight the HORDE (left flipper: FIGHT) or to ESCAPE
the HORDE (right flipper: ESCAPE).
- If the player chooses FIGHT, the ball is auto-launched back onto
the playfield and the HORDE mode continues.
- If the player chooses ESCAPE, the HORDE mode ends, a bonus is
awarded, and the SKILL SHOT is started.
- If the player plunges (launches) the ball back onto the playfield
without making a choice, the HORDE mode continues.
- Added a setting (default: OFF, competition default: ON) that pauses
the advancement of the walkers during HORDE when the FIGHT/ESCAPE
screen is being displayed and the game is waiting for input from
the player.
- Added an adjustment for losing HORDE (the walkers advanced too far
and bit the player) to either serve a new ball (default, as before)
or go to bonus (competition).
- Added TOWER HITS and TOWER EXTRA BALL to instant info.
- Increased the scoring for the ESCAPE TERMINUS mode.
- Fixed MULTIKILL mode start display effects from showing "MULTIKILL
VALUE 00" when the values are set to reset at HORDE start and HORDE is
started before the MULTIKILL start display effects have had a chance
to run.
- Changed the update priority of the background lamp effect for the
fire button so it will run first and not be excluded by in-game lamp
effects that cannot run.
- SKILL SHOT scores now rendered using the outline font.
- Changed score type to 64-bit so scores will not roll at 4B.
- Fixed a render-order bug in the LAST MAN STANDING background display
effect that was causing the back right walker kill to be rendered over
the far right walker.
- If the player scored an 8X, 11X, 18X, or 80X-89X multiplier for the
X champion, the prefix (A) was wrong. This has been corrected.
- Fixed an issue where fading the music volume would cause the music to
cut out entirely.
- Removed score caps for BARN, TUNNEL, and ARENA modes (shot acores are
allowed to increase without limit).
- BARN shot score increase per shot changed from 500k to 750k.
- SLINGSHOT types were not baing flagged as such; this has been corrected.
- Increased consecutive ARENA ramp shot score multiplier from x3, x4, x5,
... to x3, x6, x9, ...
- TUNNEL mode scores increased by 2.5M a shot when all shots (not
including the tunnel shot, of course) are completed and reset.
- BARN mode switch hit increment (one for each barn shot made) increased
from 10K to 12.5K.
- Fixed player up effects so they wait for speech and don't end on a
blank frame.
- Changed previous mode scores for TUNNEL from 1M to 1.25M.
- Tripled the scores for SIEGE.
- Fixed a bug in the loop code that would allow multiple X shots within
a time period.
- WALKER KILLS minimum # lit increased from 3 to 4.
- The "timers off" logic was not checking for HORDE or LAST MAN STANDING.
These modes CAN be multiball, but also run with only one ball on the
playfield (the mode does not end when the player drains down to 1 ball).
This has been corrected.
- Changed previous mode scores for ARENA from 250k to 500k.
- Fixed switches from showing up in the tech alert when they are not
broken. These include:
TOURNAMENT START BUTTON
START BUTTON
LEFT COIN
CENTER COIN
RIGHT COIN
FOURTH COIN
FIFTH COIN
DEDICATED #6, #7, #8, #14, #16, #20 (NOT USED)
TILT PENDULUM

TEST ESCAPE, MINUS, PLUS, ENTER
DIP #1 - #8

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LE V1.60.0 - Nov. 30, 2017
=======================

- Timers paused when the ball is in the crossbow.
- Increased the size of the RGB LED system memory pool such that
allocations for a larger number of simultaneous effects would not
fail.
- Changed ON/OFF implementation of the LEDs so they approximate the lamp
levels.
- Implemented the HORDE flasher.
- Added WALKER BOMBS to instant info.
- Added an adjustment (and increased the amount of time) for the CROSSBOW
MOTOR switch lockout. This adjustment specifies the amount of time to
lock out switch activity for the crossbow to handle the case where the
motor moves opposite the desired direction, which requires more time
for the switches to be ignored. This adjustment solves the problem on
some games where the player would not be able to fire the ball after
loading the CROSSBOW.
- The RIGHT DROP TARGET was not waiting long enough between raise/lower
during ball search to allow a stuck ball (behind the target) to be freed
up. This has been corrected.

Quoted from ATLpb:

Another big improvement is ability to escape/exit Horde.

I spotted that straight away, it was added in the last BM66 update to Villain Mode Cliffhangers, allowing you to either continue in the mode and get additional multiplier awards or escape and cash out your points. I wonder if BM was the original inspiration for the idea and in turn inspired the idea in TWD or maybe TWD inspired BM66, either way it is great in BM66 really adds to the immersion with choices effecting gameplay.

Very local, thanks to a little loan from a friend (stuff with ex is wrapping up in my favour thankfully and rightfully so) as deal on the pin was simply too good to pass up.

The ex ruined my plans to go TPF this year so this was a little celebratory treat after spanking her ass and making her look foolish in front of a judge

Quoted from lordloss:

Weird, I didn't know the modern sterns for europe still used mechanical game counters

I am pretty sure my BM66 doesn’t have one and I’m sure my mates GOT doesn’t have one so maybe they phased them out on UK games on the Spike system.

I was lucky with this LE, I went into the games audits and average ball times where literally seconds, woman who owned it did say her youngest liked to press the start button and walk off, playfield was flawless barely any dimpling or signs of play other than some wear on the well walkers decal.

Very happy game is proving to be as awesome as everyone said.

#6097 1 year ago
Quoted from pinballaddicted:

Awesome pick up! We have have had our LE since new. No sticker on the drop target and no sticker for the drop target in the goodie bag. I would drop some glue in the front of the cabinet corners (check if cabinet is split). Check that the playfield rail bolts are not creasing the side decals (that is what happened to ours). Best Stern game ever.

Thanks dude, I have emailed Stern regarding the drop target sticker so I’ll report back here when I get a response.

It seems to have a good old SAM cabinet by that I mean well built and (wood) solid in all corners, I hought the splitting was reported on Spike games?? Either way this cabinet appear rock solid and we gave it a good test when we picked it.

I had to stand at the top of a coal chute, while my mates lifted the cabinet up on to their shoulders, I grabbed cabinet over the front edge fingers hooked under coin door edge/lip and then took it off my mates below by lifting it out, if the cabinet was going to split it would have done so when we lifted it out, in the snow haha, I did have visions of slipping and falling down the chute with the cabinet onto my mates below but luckily avoided that

Is there a list of mods for TWD anywhere?

Stern art blades are a must imo and I’m not usually a fan of lit speaker grills but the ones with Rick on the right and the zombie getting its brains blown out on the left are cool.

Who does the best crossbow?

Is there much other than those worth having?

#6106 1 year ago
Quoted from NeilMcRae:

ColorDMD, Speaker Lights. Topper and the blood armour. The latter two I'll get soon. A few of the signs that mezel do.
Neil.

Just checked out the ColourDMD that does look fantastic but that will have to wait, the wallet like my heart cant take too much of beating at the moment

Speaker lights isn't something I am normally into but the acrylic design of Rick blowing out the Walkers brains is pretty damn cool so those might be a first for me in the speaker light department.

If I didn't have the LE I would get that blood armour and I just aint a topper guy, although BM66 broke that traditional, love the topper we got on that game

Was there a blood splatter decal kit for TWD? I seem to remember seeing it on Pinside but cannot find it for the life of me now, added blood splatter to the ramps, think some people even added them to the glass

Quoted from Jakers:

When I first got my game I was getting insane airballs off the right post of the lift ramp. Balls would get stuck behind the well walker and a couple even ended up flying into the right return ramp. I made my own airball deflector which is about an inch longer on the right side. I haven't had an airball since.

Where did you get those speaker lights/design from, love it!
