Is $1250 for an original AMC Stern topper too much or is that a reasonable deal?

You are correct as I just discovered. Kimballspinball is an outstanding company.
I’m about to update the game code and I am wondering if the Total Plays will zero out or will the Version 1.60 code carry the previous number forward?

This is why looking at played games is more or less useless. It doesn’t mean anything in the end, condition is King.
Thanks. Should I use the Stern 1.60 or a different one?
Edit...I loaded up the 1.60 Cleland version mentioned in the post below. Thanks Rensh
Our slightly modded TWD Pro machine is set up in in a room where the overhead lights are usually kept off to prevent glare. At certain times it seems that all of the playfield GI lights go out and the ball(s) disappears. I’m not sure if this is made more intense by the lighting choices that the previous owner made. There are three different flashers under the apron and super bright ones in the backboard of the playfield.
What suggestions do you have to improve ball visibility? Add-on lighting strips or perhaps different color GI and inserts rather than the white led’s that are currently installed?
Pic taken during shop out
Here are a few pics of the three 6 SMD lighting pad leds under the apron and the faceted bulbs in the backboard.

No this isn’t the mezel mods one. This one mounts behind the plastic and is always on. It uses some type of solenoid relay as pictured.
Edit...it seems to be an EL panel mod offered years ago by pinball refinery. It uses the inverter in one of the pics.
Congrats and welcome to the new member here with a modded premium including color dmd for $4500

Not me
Quoted from jvivlemore:Hi Everyone! I just purchased my first pinball, a TWD Pro! I'll be picking it up this week or next week.
I was hoping those of you who have moved this thing could offer some advice to a newbie like me?
I can get pretty much any vehicle from Enterprise at a discounted rate so I'm looking at options there. I've looked through the pinwiki and some of the newer vehicles like the RAV4 are missing so figured some others here either have these vehicles or have done this same exact thing and have advice. The minivan is definitely big enough but like others have told me it's super low which can make loading and unloading more difficult plus I will have a lot of room where it can move around during the drive which is going to be long.
I can't find any measurements of what this thing is folded up to take them to the rental car lot and start measuring to figure it out that way.
Options:
Midsize SUV (RAV4 or similar)
Standard SUV (Nissan Frontier or similar)
Standard SUV (Ford Edge or similar)
Full Size SUV (Chevy Tahoe or similar)
This will also be my FIRST pinball move. It's being loaded by someone who knows them thankfully but once I get home it's all on me and my wife to unload.
Your input would be greatly appreciated!
To keep the wife happy among other reasons I would strongly suggest that you purchase a transmission lift table to more easily unload and to get it into your hopefully ground level house.
As suggested by another pinsider

I’m having an issue with the Mezelmods translucent drop targets resting against the rubber behind the 3-bank set when they’re in the up position. The effect is to make it less likely that the target will drop when hit.
The targets appear to be much thicker than the original.
Has anyone else experienced this or come up with an adjustment or fix such as grinding the back down a bit?
edit...I ground the backs down a bit and now they function perfectly....

Quoted from ShowVideoGames:I'm gonna be joining this club with the Pro model on Tuesday and I'm SO stoked! What pitch does everyone have their game set at? Any tips for dialing it in just right?
Nice to see you coming out of a long hiatus! We met when you sold a friend the FT and T2. I picked up a pro recently and went with the option of a flipper rubber on the metal wire guide where the ball exits the pops.
Remove well walker body by removing the two inside Screws holding it in place for much better access..
Remove two ramp entrance screws to allow ramp to be more easily lifted for better access..
Stretch the flipper rubber (red or black or clear to preference) and push down flush with playfield.
This is not my idea but it has instantly decreased the number of sdtm balls and makes the game more enjoyable. There is no interference with Tunnel shots imo.
26549A80-6724-4733-95DD-4F74F5833503 (resized).jpeg
Here is a close up picture that clarifies the near zero difference. The straightedge is resting against the post base at the ramp and the metal post (upper) at the exit of the shooter lane.
The black playfield rubber at the upper point of the ruler extends out beyond the washer at the base of the post. If the ball hits either black rubber you’ll always miss the Tunnel shot.
In an attempt to pay it forward I am offering For FREE the original three apron decals (still very usable although in pieces), the shooter lane decal (“Survive”) two yellow pricing cards and three jet bumper plastics in the picture. Not the apron though, I gotta draw the line somewhere.
I will offer these until March 10th, then the decals get tossed.

Quoted from RikeIsland:I would love to go Premium if I could but I think I am going to trade my Judge Dredd for a pro that is in my area. Not much to choose from in West Texas.
I’m happy with our recently acquired Pro model and at a much lower price point.
I made a set of playfield lights and changed out all of the factory led bulbs (GI and inserts) based on what I saw on tahitiansea’s recently sold TWD machine and his youtube videos.

One of the translucent drop targets on our Pro broke so I bought a new set. These were installed when I bought the machine. I believe that they were made by Mezelmods.
I have the other two (used) that I won’t need since the replacements are different in appearance. Possibly good as a back up for someone or if it can be used on a different Stern pin. Perhaps a premium or LE owner could use one of them for a backlit Woodbury lane drop target?
$10 shipped for both and I’ll include a couple of promo pieces.

For shipping is there any special prep needed for the well walker? I just stuffed some paper towels behind the guy and against the plastics behind so it seems like he won’t flop around too much.
Are there any other suggestions?
Machine will be on its back end for transport.
I have a spare Stern topper that I will put up for sale in the very near future. I’m curious what you folks think a “reasonable” price is for one of these. I’m not interested in keeping it in a box in the closet and I would like to sell it sometime soon.
It has the wires, control board, etc and is still in new/excellent condition.
Thanks

Or do somebody like RC_like_the_cola or Lermods a solid and sell it to them for MSRP.
Thanks for that reply JRP.
I sent pm’s to a couple of people in this thread who were specifically seeking one. If neither steps up (you know who you are!) by Wednesday then I will post an official ad, probably in the upper part of the range but not above it.
I ended up with a spare modded Pro machine as well, so that will also go up for sale very soon.
Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:https://mezelmods.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203464145-Illuminated-Supplies-Drop-Targets
but the The Walking Dead (LE) (and premium) has color changing inserts that are different than what are in the instructions, which is why EEE is asking for information from someone who knows.
***Sold*** a NLA drop target light mod.
I wanted to use this on our Premium machine, but seemingly the mezelmods illuminated drop target kit mod is only usable on a Pro machine, so I am selling the one that I have in my parts stash. You will need to procure three translucent targets that are available in a few places.
vid’s review: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/translucent-drop-targets-from-pinball-mods-vid-s-review
You’ll also want to replace the three 555-style LEDs in the respective inserts to match the ones used in the bulb bracket.
Here is a video of what the mod looks like when installed.

Quoted from Audioenslaved:I can’t see why that wouldn’t work on a premium. Did they mention why? There’s nothing really in that area that would differ
The Pro uses 555 sockets (easy to use alligator clips to deal with lamp diodes) while the Premium uses LED boards. From the feedback that I received on the topic apparently the difference in hardware makes it not achievable.
Quoted from Ceckitti:Did your Hitchhiker sign light up after installing? I put one in mine recently and can’t get it to light. Wondering if I’m hooked up right….. or have a bad led strip?
Go into tests and select flasher #26. Coin door switch closed and if it’s wired right you’ll see it
Quick shout out to Melissa at Cointaker for offering a colored insert lighting option for Premium owners.
I was able to add some colors for the drop targets and I used their orange LED boards for the stab and Tower 2X playfield multiplier inserts.

What’s the best way to adjust the crossbow magnet on a premium. It seems to direct the ball into the crossbow less than 30% of the time when the green light is on the right ramp.
Quoted from chuckwurt:Weapons should be red and first aid should be blue to match the walker bombs.
Thanks for pointing that out chuckwurt

There is no decal on the drop target in front of the spinner for woodbury. I have several extra decals that the previous owner provided. Anyone near their machine and can snap a pic or tell me what decal goes on the woodbury drop target?
I don’t think that there was ever a factory installed decal on that drop target.
The air all protector on my bicycle girl/left ramp has been cracked and finally busted today. Does anyone have a source for a good replacement?
Quoted from punkin:That's BULLSHIT! Side drain callout on Cleland is one of the best callouts in pinball. I hate the TV show and have never got through more than a couple of mins of the first episode, but i like the Cleland AO package just fine.
I didn’t watch much of the show however I completely agree with ^^^this ^^^statement.
There are others clips in the Cleland code that suit the “emotions” one might experience when playing the machine.
It has taken me way too long to do something about the left ramp / CDC ramp bricks on our Premium. I’ve tried all the entrance flap fixes and assumed that I would just have to live with it.
It turns out that there was a small ledge where the front of the plastic ramp meets up with the back of the lift ramp.
Based on earlier suggestions here I cut down the right side support hex post to just under 4-1/8” from the original 4-1/4”.
But, You might get away with buying a 4-1/8” hex post from Marco and other online shops.
https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/254-5008-23
The transition between the two sections is much better and the ball travel is finally smooth.
The ramp picture is after the fix.

Quoted from Gorgar666:Help! Crossbow Mech sometimes doesn't recognize the ball is in it. The two switches on the ramp leading to it work. The two switches in the mech as well. Sometimes ball search finds it.
I experienced a similar problem when the crossbow plunger didn’t return to its home position and the ball would get hung up on the end of the extended plunger. The ball had not traveled into the assembly far enough to activate the switch. Ball search will jostle the plunger back, but then you don’t get to launch the ball. You might have to simply clean or replace the plunger coil sleeve.
Quoted from Vaughn:I’m getting ready to shop out a Pro. I want to upgrade the lighting and rubbers. I got a kit from titan of mostly clear and it seems very incomplete. I plan on replacing the gi lighting as well with comet 2smd’s…. Some of my inserts seem dull…
If anyone wants to point me in the right direction or any additional things I should replace or add it would be greatly appreciated. Links to kits or a list of what you purchased would be rad.
If you have mods you would like to sale let me know !!!
I strongly suggest changing out all of the white insert leds to colored. I used a variety of comet bulbs as shown.
Note that for the Stab targets, 2X and tower target I used orange leds similar to the weapons inserts.
