Quoted from RikeIsland:

the premium does look nice but not easy to find in my area. I think the pro will do just fine. My TMNT is challenging and fast so I am not afraid of the difficulty. I am not a great player, probably average at best but I am digging this machine.

I would really try to be patient and wait for a premium/LE to pop up. The addition of "walker bombs" adds an entirely different element to this game and make the upgrade worth it, its a different strategy that adds more to the game. The crossbow and well walker magnet don't really slow down this game at all. Its fantastic.

Quoted from Scott8806:

Is it just like updating a color dmd

Its just like updating code on all sterns. Just download and transfer to a USB file, plug it in and you're good to go.

Quoted from splitcms:

I’ve owned pro and premium and the premium is way worth it. Very different game. I would say the biggest impact from the premium vs pro is surprisingly the action bar button.

Yup, the walker bombs add an entirely new strategy to the game that make it worth the upgrade to premium on this title.

Quoted from RikeIsland:

Outlane post are still in the factory position but I think I have it at 6.7 or so on the pitch. I will probably adjust the outlane post to the bottom.

On my AIQ, I actually had to increase the slight shot power from 25 to 30 because the ball would slingshot into the outlanes consistently allowing no chance of a save.

Every game plays different though. I’d say 6.7 is a good pitch to have it at. I use Titan rubbers on my games and they tend to be a bit bouncier when the ball hits which may change the trajectory a little. May be worth a try.

Quoted from vicjw66:

LE’s and pros come up for sale a fair amount, but haven’t seen any premiums lately. What are HUO premiums going for?

Yeah I’d agree with the above post. A decent players condition TWD premium will be around $7500 in CA. With extra mods and the must-have color DMD, you’re looking at $8k.

That price may go up though as now stern will be charging $8999 for a premium…

Quoted from mpdpvdpin:

I let mine go for this reason alone. Location and Tourney players always stay far away and it doesn’t earn well. It IS the PERFECT game for a home collector though.

Pretty sure tournament players love this game. So many different strategies and ways to approach the game. The premium also adds an additional layer of strategy with the “walker bombs”. It’s a Lyman masterpiece.

Just finished a shop job on my TWD premium and I can’t seem to find where this white/green wire goes. Anyone know?

It’s the wire for the ramp switch on the back left (arena ramp)

Mine attaches like this. Hope it helps. It attaches to a green / red * pink pair.

Awesome, thank you for the help!

I found the male end of the connector and it’s been fixed!

PSA: remember to label your wires when you shop a machine

Anyone know where I can get the crossbow mod? Or does anyone have one available for sell? Thanks
New TWD Pin getting delivered on Sunday. I'll post pictures once I get it set-up.

Looks like Mezel Mods still sells them:

I would highly suggest the cross bow with the laser....

During my Shop Job, I removed the well walker mech and took a dremel to the outside to get it cleaned up and polished. It was nasty before. Purchased the walker belt from Mezel Mods and put a strip of mylar around it. Seems to be holding up great now!

Anyone upgrade the backbox speakers on their game? What model of speakers did you get?

I already have the pinnovators sub kit and it sounds great, looking to upgrade the backbox speakers.

Quoted from PinPickle:

I’m going to be joining the club soon and I’m wondering if anyone has the modfather topper?any other topper recommendations? Or any else you would highly recommend? Color DMD?
The pin I’m getting has a few little mods as well as a shaker motor and the new sound code.
I have never tried the pin but I love the theme and have been wanting one for a long time. Can’t wait.
https://modfatherpinball.com/collections/walking-dead/products/walking-dead-topper

The color DMD is a MUST on this game. I prefer the LCD over the LED on this particular title. Not a big fan of any of the toppers on this game.

Sounds like you already have a shaker motor and the Cleland sound code which are also necessary on this game. The shaker is integrated so well.

I like the tower mod from Mezel Mods, just be careful because they break easily. I also purchased their plastic protectors which add some nice color to the game.

I would also highly recommend a couple spotlights on the slings and behind the well walker. This is a very dark game so any additional light will help.

Quoted from RC_like_the_cola:

I think they were trying to make it "timeless" which is why there are NO characters referenced at all in the AV assets. Only the cab art has actual characters and even some of them are dead now on the show lol. I think the pro and LE art packages nailed it. Don't care for the green premium. For gameplay, I prefer the pro, although I miss the spinners.

This isn't true. Originally TWD was made with all of the assets from the show. There's a podcast with Lyman where he said he originally coded it with all of the assets from the show but then Stern failed to get them (or didn't want to pay the price most likely) so he had to re-do all of the code on the game without the assets. This is why the code was very slow to develop when the game first launched.

Love the Cleland code, it makes this game a top 3 for me. Everyone who comes over any plays it loves the Cleland code as well. I tried to get him to do AIQ, but he wasn't into the game unfortunately so that game will continue to lack soul...

Finally broke into the 1 Billion club last night. Only got 1 extra ball but managed to throw down 561M in Horde. I just kept hitting shot after shot, used a couple walker bombs when I needed to and even managed to escape. Man I love this game.

No terminus or LMS unfortunately. Had to throw up the LFS initials in honor. It’ll be a while before I beat this score.

Ugghh, that code is horrible, guess you didnt see my earlier post hahahha.
Yes, I know that there are things from the town that that Governor is in, but not of actually him.

The Cleland code is fantastic and we are lucky to have him do what he did for this machine. All for free too. A huge asset to the pinball hobby.

Quoted from roar:

Great choice as a keeper! Keep those mods tasteful ColorDMD, Invisiglass or equivalent and a shaker if it doesn't have one!

Yup, shaker motor and color DMD are a MUST for this game.

Also, an external sub is a huge sound upgrade.

I personally love the Cleland sound code, great callouts from the show and it’s also free.

Quoted from Mk1Mod0:

I'm guessing others have had this issue?

Shawn

Yup I just dremel'd down the corner of the plastic protector. Just enough so the crossbow came move.

#10738 2 years ago

So I'm having a strange issue with my Well Walker. I've searched in this topic and throughout Pinside but I can't find any topics with a similar issue.

Basically, good solid hits to the Well Walker send him back in the position in the picture. He gets stuck there until I hit him again and it gets knocked loose. Anyone ran into this issue before? Ideas on how to fix this?

He moves freely when I test it out by hand, I cannot replicate the issue manually. At first I thought it was the plastics behind him, but that is not whats causing him to get stuck. I've checked underneath and I do not see anything that would catch or cause him to get stuck. Switch looks fine, brackets don't look bent or anything. This is a weird one!

Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:

You have the glass off when testing manually. Is one of the WW hands rubbing the glass?

Yup this was it! His left hand is getting caught on the glass. I must’ve forgot to put a washer back on when I installed the new WW belt. This will lower him a bit. Thanks!

Quoted from chuckwurt:

This is the worst take I’ve ever heard about anything related to modern television.
He was only the focal point for 2 seasons. Negan arrives first episode of season 7 and it captured end of season 8.
And I will say, I’m very surprised by how much I liked his character after capture. Couldn’t believe he hung around so long after that, but glad that’s the route they took.

Erik, I think this is the same guy who said the Cleland code sucks LOL… it all makes sense now.

Quoted from delt31:

Thanks guys. It was very simple. The confusion was Bc my game has the mezel mods guts mod so the first thing you need to do is remove the guts from the walker by removing that nut.. Once the guts are removed you can clearly see the two screws that hold the hindge to the Walker which allows you to remove the Walker from the game. Once removed you can remove the four wood screws that hold the Walker to the hindge. Then you just put the new Walker using the same four screws and attach the hindge back to the machine with the two screws. Very simple
ModFather emailed me back really quickly and I must say, super high quality for less than 100. No swap necessary - I think it’s one of the best bang for your Buck mods out there. I’m always disliked the stock Walker with its man b__bs Pics attached

Where did you get the “don’t open” inlane plastics? Those look fantastic.

Quoted from madamyates:

Been noticing that prison magnet is holding the ball sometimes until ball search. Replaced the magnet and no change. Any thoughts why it would do this? Well Walker magnet is good to go.

Shoot I'm also experiencing some of this behavior and its intermittent... Bought a new magnet core and haven't installed it yet but it sounds like that didn't solve anything...

Quoted from chuckwurt:

So what is everyone’s favorite custom code for 1.60?
I think I have an adaptation of Clelands right now with some NIN and Radiohead, but it’s not as clean as I would like. Songs cut out before the loop.
Do people have pinsound in this?

I’m a huge fan of just the regular Cleland code without the music. Sounds fantastic with an external sub.
