Looks like I'll have a premium in a week with a build date of the last few weeks. Hopefully the PF issues are sorted, this will be my first NIB and first Stern.
Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:Page 2 in your manual shows how to get into the switch test. Page 9 has more details about the test.
Step 1 Press [SELECT]
Step 2 With the "DIAG" Icon highlighted, press [SELECT]
Step 3 With the "SW" Icon hightlighted, press [SELECT]
Step 4 With the "TEST" Icon highlighted, press [SELECT]
Page 10 shows your switch matrix. Well Walker is switch 2. Verify this by manually activating your Well Walker. Note the switch that shows on your DMD when doing so.
Next, nudge or slap your machine a bit and see if the Well Walker switch is activating. If it is, you know the switch needs adjusting. If it's a different switch, look at your switch matrix and page 11 in your manual. Figure out the location of the malfunctioning switch and adjust it.
Good information, thanks for posting this!
Congrats! Thats two awesome pins there now. Pop a GB and a GOT in there with them and you're set for life!

The build date doesn't really matter. Its when the playfield was finished that counts. I'm guessing TWD premium playfields were done last year.

LUCI's got a new friend ..
Nice view. I have those two sitting next to each other as well. They look great together.

Playfield is great.
I just can't figure out how to adjust the switch on the well-walker so it doesn't register phantom hits. Kind of frustrating--my best buddy is coming in from out of town just to play this today!

Copied from the above thread (which has helpful photos):
Looks like the easiest way will be bend the arm slightly away from the switch.
If you don't have a spare spring you could try cutting a coil or two from one end and reconnecting. Be SURE you have the ability to bend the newly cut spring in a manner that will reattach to where you detached it from.
Page B14 in your manual shows the spring part number 265-5003-00 89 cents at Marco.

The switch should be similar to the one pictured below. You need to slightly bend the metal actuator arm so that the switch stays closed when the well walker is in its resting position.
Edit: Looks like YeOldPinPlayer beat me to the punch.

Oh really? That's great news! Do they usually make a large batch of PFs and hold them on hand and just make games off that reserve for months? I guess I assumed they would be made around the same time as the build date.

Good to hear, pretty excited to get mine this week! There is a LE on location by me but it's always busted, looking forward to keeping this one in top shape. I like the pro and LE artwork better though.

Thank you!
Seeing the picture was most helpful!
I am now hoping my mechanically-minded fiancee can make the adjustment.

I just fixed the same issue on mine and would like to suggest an alternate solution.
Opposite that switch is a spring. That spring secures the Well Walker. If it were strong enough, you'd never register any hits. If it's removed completely, or if it's too weak, even light movements, like nudging the pin can cause a phantom hit.
Before you mess around with the switch, try replacing the spring. It's far easier to replace than the switch is because it doesn't require soldering.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you, that is a better solution I think.
Quoted from Pale_Purple:Looks like my game should be delivered tomorrow, anything I know as a first time stern and NIB? I'm sure there's a NIB opening 101 tbread around here somewhere
Instructions should be included with the game. Just follow those. Inspect the stock balls and make sure they are nice and shinny with no nicks. If they are bad, replace.

I'd consider getting the lane extenders unless you're damn good. It can be a cruel mistress at times.
It's a bit like lighting a roman candle with an iffy fuse... you'll fizzle out with a lot of short games but when it goes off: watch out!
Craziness ensues

There is a TWD adjustments thread.
Should've bought some news balls for prep, don't have any extra on hand.
Will look for the adjustments thread, thanks for the tips guys.
Hello everyone. Getting my TWD pin delivered soon. This will
be my first Sterns. It will also be my newest pin. I love the early SS machines and currently own a Gorgar and I am currently shopping out a BK. TWD already has several mods. Thought I would share one pic to the group. I am a
newbie to the hobby, so I am will apologize in advance for all the questions. I look forward to reading future posts on this forum.

Mine actually came with some great balls for once so you may not need a set.
Well that sure doesn't sound right... lol

Same here. I was expecting the worst after all the comments here, but I just used the ones in the game.
It seems like Stern has been providing better quality balls lately. They used to be just horrible, but the last couple games I unboxed actually had some decent balls.
I just joined the club late last week with a premium. The balls included with mine were so so. Luckily I had some ooh shiney ones laying around. If I had no extras, they would be ok I guess. I definitely would get some premium ones though, why drop all that money on a new game then cheap out on some crappy balls. PBL is out of stock, but Titan has some.
Picked up my premium today. After cutting a few zip ties and tucking the wires in the head the left ramp is shooting good and the game is playing great. The metal left ramp entrance isn't flush with the playfield but it doesn't seem to be causing any air balls or other problems so it should be fine for now.
My game has a playfield date of 4/21/I'm assuming 2016 but it is impossible to make out. Machine build date of 7/13/16 inserts all look good but I'm nervous about the playfield date. Will keep a close eye
The ramp on the premium I got last week isnt completely flush either...works perfect! Congrats! Its such a great pin.
Quoted from BrewNinja:The ramp on the premium I got last week isnt completely flush either...works perfect! Congrats! Its such a great pin.
Well it shouldn't sit flush as there is a small bit of foam under it to protect the PF. Yeah it really is a keeper I agree.
I was getting frustrated with my BG ramp. It was so clunky and really took the pleasure of playing the pin. I swear, I almost sold my LE because of it, but I loved the show and the theme so much.
I reached out here on Pinside and asked for a solution and eventually I was contacted by pinsider T7 about his ramp fix. I was really ready to try anything, so I bought one from him.
It came in the mail in a plain envelope. Opened it up and got a piece of metal ramp with a separate piece of foam backing. At first I thought there was no way this was going to work, but for giggles I went ahead and put them on (very easy installation). Fired the pin up and specifically aimed for that cursed left ramp.
Well shut my mouth........IT WORKS! I mean it went from a clunky shot to a buttery smooth shot in an instant. I couldn't believe it. T7, you're a genius!! If anyone is having the same problem as me, then contact him and get this fix.
I told T7 I would sing his name from the mountains if it worked, but I figure the climb would be too hard on my knees so I decided to post it on Pinside instead. Thanks again!
If your employing blings they may have a tendency to become magnetized. There's quite a bit of magnet action in this game.

this pretty much happened to me as well, I spend all my time playing TWD rarely do any of the other games in my arcade get much attention. im pretty much hooked on modern pins, so much fun. i might have to sell off some of my arcade games to make funds and room for more pins , never thought id see the day lol
I've got a TWD premium and want to swap out the "Walker" LEDs with a different color LED than white, say green perhaps, to make them stand out. Is there a way to do this? I am uncomfortable with removing the LEDs from the circuit boards. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance!
Colored gels. They are easy to install and change.

I miss every pin I part with dearly...bottom line , not enough room, can't play them all and 70's,80's pins are just not as good as 90's and up!!!whirl wind is possibly the only 80's keeper for me and i do have a 70's king pin that can be brutal to beat but when I part with that it will be my last 70's pin, then 90's and up for good! I real hate to say this because I grew up playin those old great machines, now i want the challange and have alot more fun playing the newer machines, they are just better...

Can only assume it was rarely played or owned by morons. Favouring the latter.
Update it with the Cleland sound update mate. Sounds like Mater from Cars otherwise.

I just got the pro and ball exits out of the pops drain STM about 20% of the time. I know maybe I could save some of them if I was more aware of that but is there a tweak to make it more predictable?
Some pins are just more prone to that crap drain. Make sure pin is dead level and id add a wider rubber post where it drains out the pops. I did all this a rarely get a drain out of pops.

This game is fun as heck, I traded my XMLE, I probably lost out some money on the trade (because I had to include my color DMD) however as for losing out on a trade, I figured that I had made money on other trades so you can't win them all. But having a new pin and something fresh to play is worth something plus it was delivered to me which is a help. But while I did like XMLE, I think it had gotten stale in my collection and I was eager to trade it.

I understand .... people think im crazy for tradeing my luci for a restored mb and cash plus the op is doing all the moving.... but we dont play luci much and i have alot more fun playing afm and mb so thats all that matters imo. Plus i bought imve, luci and a met in a package deal and dont haveas much tied up in them as one wld think. I also got a ton of parts, pdi glass and lots mods in that deal so all that adds up lol. Im in this hobby to play and enjoy my pins .....not all about the money lol. If you dont have a,wider post rubber u can order the ironman post kit from pbl and use it on twd.
Reading the rules what is the difference between starting a multikill (flashing) and completing the multikill (lit solid)? And once you get lit solid that will light the multikill shot?
Also on the dead modes such as Arena it says the shots are worth xyz points each but you end the mode by combo Woodbury to cash in the Arena value. Does that mean no points are awarded until you cash the in and if you time out you don't collect any points.
With CDC it says 2 shots to CDC ramp completes the mode and cashes in the value. So does that mean that you only collect the points if you cash in/complete the mode?
