Quoted from Rensh:

I mailed Gnassel several times but never got a response. Was lucky enough to obtain one via a friendly pinsider who didn’t use it.

He actually responded to my first request, and stated he was gonna order parts and make a few more (that was months ago). He hasn't responded to my other requests so I assume its not gonna happen...

I also reached out with no response.

Does anyone have info on the actual LED he used? I'm kind of handy with circuits and can maybe put it together.

I can't imagine its all that difficult to reverse engineer? I say that not knowing anything about it Be nice to get some details

What would cause my 3 bank targets from resetting by themselves

Switch errors

3 bank targets from resetting

There is a switch on each that detects when each is down. What does it show in switch test mode? If all 3 are up does anything happen when you knock on the playfield? Do the corresponding switches show correctly when each is dropped individually? Look closely and check for loose wires there.

I resolved my lighting issue. I ended up replacing all the cool white GI with warm white Comet 4+1 LEDs. They have the same vertical brightness, and the side LEDs do a good job of lighting sideways. I also added spotlights on the slings and behind the well walker. The spotlights are painted matte black to help them blend in. They still dim with the GI, so it all works really well.

As per normal I find with sterns and shaker motors, the idc plug had ever so slightly became loose. So I push it back into place and no issues. Usually when the connector moves the drops don't reset, but in this case they did the opposite and kept resetting.

Does anyone know where I can get the bicycle girl mod? I contacted the guy who originally made it, but it doesnt look like he's making anymore....be a nice add on

What is this mod?

Edit - nm, found it. That is a cool mod! Wonder what micro controller he used and how it was programmed..

I'm not exactly sure, but its definitely a nice to have mod...

#10511 2 years ago

Yeah.. would love to get one as well!

#10512 2 years ago

We need to find someone who is willing to recreate the bicycle girl mod. It is such a wasted feature when you activate the mode and cannot see it. Why even bother sticking a detailed sculpt under there when you can't see it while playing?

You can stick an led on the post in front that lights it up, Judge Dreads does that mod or make one.

Judge Dress’s mod really does a good job, green light when in the mode. Easy to install. I got it a couple of years ago.

I had already spots on my slingshots but followed your idea of 1 spot behind the well walker aimed at the prison. Good idea, thanks.

I also got a well walkers belt on eBay from top-notch target shields that will end all torn belt issues. Padded, good tape. Good product.

That’s it. Works good, should last a long time. Wraps all around it. Changes the ball hits just a little.

Looks nice....in the past I've had pretty bad luck with the quality of their target decals. I bought a set for my TZ, which were terrible. I then decided to try on my IJ and they were so bad I just tossed them in the trash

#10526 2 years ago

Any tips for getting the Well Walker to properly register?

I've tried adjusting the switch below the mech. It works better for a few games, then eventually doesn't work well. I'm missing about 50% of my hits now. No phantom hits.

Does a certain adjustment method work? Different switch?

I am sorry that I had not answered for so long. My fault. I was always very busy, so I was little on Pinside.
Good that you still found a mod. I hope you like it.

I now try to answer all who have written to me. A few mods are going out today. More will follow.

Sorry for the long delay

Ball 3 ~200k
On purpose On-the-fly “bicycle kick” shot from the right flipper into woodbury to start Horde. Kept horde going for a while as well

Finished game with just under 500k

Game feels good when ya get things going good!

#10529 2 years ago

This game frustrates me so much. After my first game today I was ready to sell it. Hadn't had a good game in weeks. After my second game I was convinced it stays bolted to the floor. I love to hate on my TWD but it is a great fricken pin.

Tough one here was wondering if anyone knew where to purchase
The star rollover looks to be stuck on
The part number comes up with Marco having them but out of stock
Can’t find anywhere
I believe you need the whole assembly

Just wondering - If you remove it, does the switch look and move OK on the playfield side?

If you switch connectors with the other one, does the problem move or stay with the same one, just to verify the issue is not wiring or somewhere else.

Switched connectors problem stays
Sorry my bad should have mentioned that

I see you can buy a part for it here I guess I can swap that and see what I get

Thanks for the response brother

Anyone do DIY speaker upgrades on their TWD or other Stern SAM systems?

I'm going to do a small order on parts-express and would like to maybe get some backbox speakers for my TWD Premium. Does anyone know the specs of a good factory replacement? 4" 4-ohm?

I put in a pair of Pyle PL42BL and they made a nice difference. The cabinet woofer is now louder and I have an in-line volume control to install but haven't yet.

Blew up my walking dead cpu/sound board last night when it was plugged into a non grounded receptacle. Unreal. Now I’m looking for a new board 520-5337-01 Rev A. Called Marco ,Pinball life,K’s arcade with no luck. Will any other Sam boards work for replacement. Thanks

Having it repaired may be the faster option with these supply chain issues. Chris Hibler works on SAM stuff.

It might be just the audio chip itself U50, it happened to me on the U51 chip next to it which is for the bottom cabinet speaker, yours will be for the top speakers Hard to tell on the pic, the flash on the pic is making it tough to see, but I am thinking the audio chip blew, and is where the extra black soot went on the rest of the board. See if that soot wipes off the board to make sure that is not actually burned up and check the audio chip for burn marks/holes ect.
If you can solder it is a pretty easy fix, if not comfortable contact Chris, because to buy that board new is $600.

Here is a Thread of my problem and how to repair. Pay attention to when Pinwoofer got into the thread, that is when I got my answers and solved the issue: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/bottom-cabinet-speaker-hum-

Ditto ^^, no need to swap an entire board if that's the only problem. Or swap out the audio amp chip yourself if you are handy w/a soldering iron.

Kind of surprised that happened because of an ungrounded outlet. Tempted to dig up the schematic and see what could have happened.

Looks like the problem was the Polk sub woofer that took out the audio chips. I know because I turned on the Avengers and it also blew. I’m gonna take a sledge hammer to that piece of shit Polk.

That’s a real pitty. Sorry for you.

You did connect it to the high level input/speaker input? If not, the load to the audio circuit becomes to high and shit happens.

This Polk has been hooked for a long time working great. Never heard of this but hopefully it’s just part of the audio section that blew.
