People that enjoy the series are running Clelands code since you get the real actor voices instead of a single southern impersonator. If you have no interest in the show then I could imagine not caring about the voice changes and run the stock software. I will always run Clelands sound mod, its soooooooo much better. So may different voices and entertaining call outs. Love it!

Quoted from gliebig:

Are most people running the Cleland code? I'm thinking about loading Stern on there as I've never played the game with factory callouts.

Quoted from colonel_caverne:

For me, 2 mods are essential common for each pinball machine:
- colordmd
- power bladez
What I also would like to experience is a mini lcd attached to the apron.

Potc had this for the compass. I found that I never really looked at it. Cool concept, but unneeded

Does it depend on how to play? Do you often look at the flipper or not, especially during multiball?
As i’m just an average player, I need to look at balls rolling on my flippers for timing...so I miss some informations on lcd. Don’t know if mini lcd on apron could help me.

I've never seen a single episode of the show. I'm just looking for more helpful callouts. If Stern code has that, then maybe I'll give it a try.

WOW!
Your machine is pure porn!

Thanks! Yeah I never thought I'd get another Premium as nice as the one I sold, but this one is it. Love the powder coating and the translite, especially.

+1

Don't mind the "redneck" at all. I've tried the Cleland ROM, and while it's impressive, it's also slightly confusing. The stock callouts tell you enough to help you navigate. The Cleland callouts are often only tangentially related and not immediately helpful to people who don't know the show well, etc. Just my opinion. To be fair, though, I didn't give a fair shake - perhaps a week.

Are you able to take a photo or two of the bicycle girl light. I can't seem to be able to buy one in oz and would like to try and make something. That area is lost otherwise. No idea where to mount the led or connect it

#9108 3 years ago

I was hoping I could get some help/advice with a problem I’m having with my left ramp. I’ll explain this the best way I can.

The balls that I send up the bicycle girl ramp (left ramp) are getting stuck in the ramp behind the Back box. When I shake the machine they remain stuck. When the ball search kicks on they still stay stuck.

I tried manually rolling the balls with force by hand to test it because I know the ramp is step but nope, still stuck. The only way I can get the balls out of there is by taking off the glass and raising the play field. The balls then roll down the right ramp.

Is this a common problem?

I tried looking for similar problems like this in the previous forums but couldn’t find the same problem as this.

Your help is appreciated.

Probably a cable hanging down catching them.

#9110 3 years ago

I looked and didn’t see any cables but I’ll double check.

You were right it was a cable I just couldn’t see it. Found it after I stuck my hand in there.

Thanks so much, thought I had the ramp from hell or something.

I absolutely love this club thread (when compared to other club threads I’m in). All owners & prospective owners are nice & extremely helpful. Long may it continue!

I thought Eskaybee did a perfect mix of stock and cleland. You don’t lose the stock callouts and you get good music and show callouts too.

That does sound great, currently running Cleland but might this give a try. Do you have a link where i can get the current code?

#9116 3 years ago

I would message eskaybee to see if he can help. I don’t have this handy.

So long shot

But i screwed up a color dmd install on my machine. Installed the ribbon cable backwards and also wrong power source. I know im stupid.

The ribbon cable sparked and smoked i switched the machine back off after 1-2 seconds once i saw the spark.

I installed a new ribbon cable and the dmd correctly.

And the machine wont boot. When switched on now the top left board lights up. Accessory power items light up. (Speaker lights and under cab lights) But the only play field lights are the two tiny red lights right in front of the Prison.

Just wanted to ask here before i sent the cpu board out for repair.

Maybe theres something else i should here first. I checked the fuses on the top left board as well. While they were in the machine though.

Have you checked the fuses ?

#9119 3 years ago

Do the leds for the fuses light up, any out? If so replace those fuses that are out.

I saw, a guy do similar, and he luckily only cooked one fuse and a standard dmd when he swapped out a Colordmd and plugged the lcd cable to the led dmd. Doh

Also what dmd where you installing lcd or led? That's give us an idea to how much cooking was involved

Just had an amazing game. Was really close to starting my fourth prison where I only needed maybe three more jackpots in the second stage, but my quest for siege continues. I did escape the horde though. Nailed a bunch of shots at the start so had like four balls in play. When I was down to one escape was lit. 420,000,000 out of horde. Didnt get terminus either, lol

Wow big score. You did real well in horde but you must have had a great mode or two in the mix as well

i picked up a premium few months ago. Have noticed this happen a few times. Ball bounces back into trough and sits on top of the one on the VUK. Game doesnt seem to want to try to clear it.

I assumed it was a loose or flakey optic sensor.

Havent spent much time debugging but i did have some time today and put the trough through its paces. I expected the opto switch for the second ball in the trough not to register. But it was working 100 percent.

Anybody see this with their TWD prem/LE?

Happens on a pro on location from time to time. I think buffaloatx says he plugs and unplugs the cable going to the sensor board down there. I shake the game to get a tilt warning and it usually kicks it out.

The ball trough welds are probably broken.
The curved part right where it ejects breaks the welds and then it is kind of springy and bounces the ball back in a lot.

I have the same issue. I thought its the strong eject power, and a stronger spring on the coil would take some power off.
I'll have a look at the welds. Is there an easy fix for this?

Welding.

#9127 3 years ago

I tried that ... it looked like hell and I was afraid it would scratch the balls. For $35, it wasn't worth going back to my friends house to try again...

edit: I see your location...yeah, with shipping, you definitely would be better off getting it welded if that's the issue.

Take it to a local engineering shop. It just needs re-fusing with a TIG welder. I’ve done a few on my games.

#9129 3 years ago

Hmm.
A game lasting nearly an hour, but just how many points? Does the game roll over at a certain point?
Where does he get the energy?
That's a heck of a lot of pinball!
It's a bit challenging to simply watch the clip, frankly. It's so bright/flashy/red.
Numerous great outlane saves!
Expert use of "X" and 2x PF scoring, plus stupid-large Multi-kill values.
A chance to see LMS completed!
This is how TWD can be played if you can actually stay up and advance through the game!
Hats off to KME. You make it look easy!

I would try to attentuate the coil.
I've been through this myself on my game.
The ball eject from the factory was like a gun shot. I thought, fork, this is going to pulverize my poor shooter lane if I don't do something about it!
So I asked Chas at Stern about it and he suggested a substitute coil - which I bought/installed.
No help at all.
Then I tried a mechanical solution and it worked like a charm. I took an 11mm, six-point socket and cut the driver end off of it with a hacksaw, turning it into a sleeve about 15mm long. Then I put the sleeve on the coil's plunger (below the coil) to limit its travel, effectively scrubbing about a half of the coil's power. The result is a gentle-but-effective ball eject and no unnecessary wear to the PF in the shooter lane.
It would surprise me if your problem is being caused by a trough snout whose welds have failed. Did you take a closer look?

#the_walking_dead_le rolls at about 4,294,967,295. It increments the ones digit by four each time it rolls.

my welds are ok. it was the same probleme, machine gun eject power... added a big washer on the plunger and a second spring on the other side, works now too.

Hey guys ive searched the thread a bit for answers to the phantom well walker hits issue. I replaced the spring and bought a switch arm adjuster to try and bend it towards the switch more to not so easily disengage but still showing a ton of random hits, mostly side to side action like when a ball gets sent up into the shooter lane it will usually register a hit. Any other things to try before I just buy a new switch and try to remember how to solder?

#9134 3 years ago

It’s all in the switch. Just have to keep adjusting until you get it. There also is a connector up stream from the switch under the playfield I believe. Reseat that.

Yeah I tried the connector reseat as well i forgot about that one but still no go. I am wondering if maybe I am adjusting wrong, when I look at this thread:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/walking-dead-wellwalker-adjustment

I tried bending the arm towards the switch, but another reply says bending away from the switch? I was thinking since it is firing too often I should be trying to bend it towards the switch to make it less sensitive but I could be doing things backwards.

Scored a 639M CDC yesterday... love this game!

My X champ recorded a (final) CDC shot worth 588M. This means all scoring in that mode except the final shot only scored 51M?
I think I shot a past mode shot twice, then 5 cdc ramps, then a lot shots before cashing in, but all unmultiplied till the final shot.

#9137 3 years ago

Dang... your CDC shot is higher than my highest score ever...

If you want to learn how to solder, you can try to learn from these sites: http://www.tin-solder-wire.com/ or http://www.tin-solder-bar.com/, hope this would be useful.

Currently looking for an original Stern TWD Shooter rod. Anybody offering one or has a link to a shop still in stock? Seems hard to find.

not sure I would call it " nice looking" but look around you may be able to find just the head on ebay or similar and it is simple to drill out and epoxy to a shooter rod shaft.

Bicycle Kicks Rule!

How many of you are hitting new shots on your TWD thanks to "bicycle kicks"?

In case it's not obvious, a bicycle kick in pinball happens when you backhand a ball out of the air, high on the flipper, sending it on a trajectory that is otherwise impossible from that side. For example, it's not all that uncommon to bicycle kick the Arena ramp from the right flipper, or the CDC ramp from the left flipper.

Today, for the first - and probably *only* - time, I bicycle kicked Tunnel from the right flipper. I know, I know! Tunnel is IMPOSSIBLE from the right flipper - even as a BK - so I must have caromed off the Well Walker's hip. It was CRAZY! I do wish there were more shots on this layout, so adding one, BK-style, is always welcome!
