Quoted from Pinzap:Can you define what a cheap drain is?
its similar to denial
Quoted from Mudflaps:1. The ball will enter the crossbow and just sit there. Ball search will end the problem.
2. Button will not launch the ball.
3. Crossbow motor will continuously run for the duration of the game.
The plunger will sometimes stay extended after the ball is launched. The weight of the ball will compress the plunger the second time, so this may be normal.
I went through the switch, motor and coil test. Everything seems fine. Like I said, the issues are intermittent and seemingly random.
Solved the problem. The screw holding the crossbow was too tight, preventing the return switch from registering.
Loosened the screw a bit and we’re back in business.
image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpgWell I’m finally in. Missed this machine when it sold here recently and wasn’t going to miss it second time around.
Loaded Premium with fish tank topper. Read all 157 pages to gain all the valuable advice here on pinside. Great stuff guys and it helped make sure I had set up right. Had crossbow motor issues when I bought it and previous owner got me a new one. Fitted yesterday and plays perfect. With tweaks suggested I have it playing smooth as silk. No drains from the pops or prison magnet. Hard game yes but super rewarding. Just posted a GC score after watching Mctuna tutorials.
Feeling pretty good .......and then Mrs JP comes along flailing balls everywhere........ but hang on that game seems to be going on and on. She’s managed to get bloodbath going stacked prison multiball and 2x playfield as well. F#*k me she’s just beat my score by over 100000000. there no justice in Pinball sometimes. anyway here’s some pix, sorry if I post too many but very excited to have this title. Great game and now that I’m understanding rules that bit more hopefully it won’t take too long to get back the crown. That last pix hurt lol

Quoted from WizardsCastle:Anyone think Lyman will revisit this code as he did with MET?
Absolutely!
Picked up a Walking Dead from Pinfest in Allentown this weekend. This game has always had it in for me so I needed to bring it home to conquer it. Such a great game!
Quoted from WizardsCastle:Anyone think Lyman will revisit this code as he did with MET?
Didn’t he already do that?

Good luck with that, please let us know how you go. We have been doing our best to conquer ours for four and a half years and the game consistently conquers us!
as per pinballaddicted - been trying to conquer ours since Sep 2016. It never gets old having your ass handed to you by a pinball machine.
I added a flipper rubber to the right ramp area to try and cope with drains from the pops. It has helped a little but still extremely frustrating. Not sure what to try next.
Quoted from gliebig:I added a flipper rubber to the right ramp area to try and cope with drains from the pops. It has helped a little but still extremely frustrating. Not sure what to try next.
Try leveling or on purpose slightly not level it. 100% drain free will never happen though, at least not on mine.
Quoted from Rensh:Try leveling or on purpose slightly not level it. 100% drain free will never happen though, at least not on mine.
I was thinking that. What would be best....tilt to the right so it bounces off the ramp rubber more, or tilt left towards the pop side to hit the left flipper?
Quoted from gliebig:I added a flipper rubber to the right ramp area to try and cope with drains from the pops. It has helped a little but still extremely frustrating. Not sure what to try next.
I did the added flipper, also. On the ramp post I also added a ring rubber to the bottom of the post sleeve. Helps a lot, still happens, though.
Quoted from timtim:Finally hit a x shot I'm happy with this morning before work.
Such a great game.

Awesome! I just came to ask what is the highest you guys have seen and this one beats mine from tonight. I had arena running and hit 9X to the right ramp for 194 million. Couldn't believe it, for sure the biggest I've got. I think I had 2X playfield running as well but I'm not certain.
Edit: Now I'm not sure if X champ is from the one shot? I think so?
Have a pro ad finally played a premium last night several times. Men, what a difference is the bicycle girl ramp. Also the steepness is a lot different. My pro is much more fluid. The well walker magnet is not as active as I expected to.
Anyway, both are great pins and for those having a pro like me, don’t worry, you are having a great pin.

The extra drop and the spinners are cool on the premium and I like the crossbow too... I love my pro but I'd trade it for a premium + cash if the option came up.
Quoted from chuckwurt:Two words. Walker bombs. So effing good.
Do the walker bombs make LMS more attainable? I don't even know how they work but it sounds like they give you more walker kills... which would be nice.

Just added this which does help

But was playing GB this weekend and noticed they have a one-way gate in a similar place where TWD causes drains.
A one-way gate on TWD that always forced the ball to one side would be a great solution - not sure why they never came up with something like this.
Quoted from roar:Do the walker bombs make LMS more attainable? I don't even know how they work but it sounds like they give you more walker kills... which would be nice.
I think the main way people use walker bombs is to get Well Walker one hit away from multiball, then ignore the well walker and progress other areas of the game. When they drain the use the bomb to start well walker multiball. Almost like a ball save that lasts the entire ball.

That's correct but it also applies to Prison Multiball as well and can also help you extend Horde mode by using Horde bombs. It adds an extra layer of strategy and they can work like a ball save if you get them set-up just right.

I do this on my pro with a good solid nudge that registers a well walker hit... my shaker motor is also capable of registering a well walker hit. Never thought much about and haven't played enough on others to know if they do the same. Thanks for the explanation though, makes sense.
I admit I don't really know when to use them. For some reason, this is the only game I own that the code just hasn't clicked with me.
Hey guys, my well walker started registering phantom hits and I am thinking it is the switch, does anyone know the part number for the switch?
Almost done on the alternate translite, so any interested pm me. Will consider making runs if there is enough interest.

Try adjusting the WW switch first, ie. move the blades apart slightly.

Thanks, but I already tried that to no avail. I am just going to order the part and see if that is an easy fix I just don’t know what the part number is?

I think your switch needs to be adjusted closed, not farther open.
The part is listed in the manual. It's just a micro-switch. Available from Marco's. Shipping to Canada is crazy though. $5 part will wind up costing you $50 CAD. Try to adjust your switch again.

I have ordered the premium color blood version of this hand drawn translite. This was an amazing 3 year project that I followed closely. I can’t wait to have this artwork on my machine. Federico - the artist who created this - is only going to print as many as are ordered so they will be very limited. I understand there could be as few as only 30 so anyone thinking about this I suggest contacting him right away and order. I believe the order is going to print early next week. I am so excited to get mine! A great way to freshen up one of my favourite games!

Same thing started happening to me. I adjusted the switch up almost against the well-walker. That fixed it.

I have the owners manual in front of me I cannot find the part I’m looking for can someone please help me, or at least tell me what page to look at in the manual.
Alright I have had my TWD premium for awhile now. Ive never tried to address this frustrating issue ive had out of the box.
#1 The skill shot plunge. about 75% of the time my plunge gets hung up in the pop bumbers. Never makes it to the inlanes. I havent really tried anything. The plunger appears to be alligned correctly. I guess i could attempt to bend the lane guides in the shooter lane. Mianly curious if this problem has popped up already in this thread.
#2 My crossbow only rotates halfway. Then returns.
Quoted from luvthatapex2:Try adjusting the WW switch first, ie. move the blades apart slightly.
It's not that kind of switch. It's a microswitch.

#1 is a common problem that can be fixed with some adjustment to the ball guides.
#2 is probably a switch that isn’t being made. Go into game specific adjustments and see if one of the switches doesn’t register.
The crossbow uses a cam mech with switches that have rollers on them to know where it is.

139 euros shipped.

Yeah that’s correct it is $139 euros including shipping. Works out to just over $200 Canadian for a piece of hand drawn art that was a 3 year project. Also looks like it will be limited to only 30 maximum of each version. You should contact the artist right away as I got my tracking number today and i know he did make a few extras to round the number up and sell to those that missed the pre order cut off.
New to the club with one of the last batch premium released. The previous owner said he didn't have this problem in having. I sometimes get bad plunges that hit the pops and not make it to the star roll-overs or drop lanes. Usually I get this when I do a golf to 3/4 strength plunges. Full strength plunges seem to go OK but you then have to be quick to get the skill shot. Woodberry is very difficult. I don't know what the shooter lane exit should look like, so I've included a photo of mine. Can anyone assist with a solution please. You'll notice the gate over laps the exit
IMG20190526175526 (resized).jpgI have looked through the manual repeatedly, I have asked my fellow pinsiders, I have emailed Marcos and a couple other pinball sources to see which switch I need to order to replace the micro switch under the Well Walker. I guess since no one wants to help me, I should ask, what question should I ask and where should I ask it so I can fix my $11,000 machine. Like fuck, is it that difficult to help someone out. I have a hard time thinking no one else has ever ordered this part before. And then for everyone who checks this thread to just skim through my post and not a single answer? I have never been this frustrated trying to fix such a simple problem. Please don’t reply back trying to tell me how to fix the fucking switch, it is broken, and I need a new one.

It’s in the manual, page 12, switch matrix. Says it’s part 180-5119-02. However, I thought it was a leaf switch and not a roller switch. Check that switch number at Marco and see if it’s whats in your game.

Sorry to read about your frustration. The fellow enthusiasts (edit: some) on these forums prefer to nudge you in the right direction to find the answer on your own so you can learn how to diagnose and fix issues by yourself and hopefully help someone else out down the road. How else can we keep these machines going in the many years to come? The more the community knows as a whole the better it is. Just throwing the answer out to you is like getting to a wizard mode with the glass off. That's no fun, right?
