So if you hit the shot dead on the ramp would still reject it?
Quoted from delt31:So if you hit the shot dead on the ramp would still reject it?
Not anymore. But yes. The moving part of the ramp sat below the next part of the ramp causing a hop.
The moving part of the ramp had slop in it so it moved side to side whenever you’d hit the ramp. Can’t rememebr what else but I had to do 2-3 different things to it to get it dialed in.
Quoted from delt31:Damn I can see how that would be a significant issue! Glad to hear you fixed it
I also noticed it was very temperamental to even the littlest bit of flipper wear on the mechs. I had to rebuild the right flipper after a couple thousand plays or else it would stop making it up the ramp during a long game.
Quoted from Doctor6:Me too. No clue what the whining is about.
The ramp entrance IS different, it is a sharper angle where it meets the playfield, and actually a narrower shot because of the metal sides.
Add to that the hinge at the top, that can get a little slop over time, and take energy away from the ball, and you have a good amount of rejected shots.
The ball also rolls back down the ramp differently, it just kinda plunks back down the lift ramp (again due partly to the metal sides), where the pro smoothly comes down and often gets a little kick off the post at the entrance.
Finally, when it lifts to bash the BG, it kills the flow, and doesn't allow for putting the inlane X on big money shots sometimes.
Add it all up and that is why people "whine".
Enjoy yours, I'm glad it shoots without issue, but many of them do not, and perfect shots that brick and reject right back to the drain are reasonable complaints IMO.

Calm down, buddy, I didn't say it wasn't different (not sure why you had to capitalize "is"), I've played two versions and both are super smooth. So, take a breather. I get it, some are messed up. I'm saying it's an overblown issue.
Quoted from Doctor6:Calm down, buddy, I didn't say it wasn't different
Lol, I'm not worked up about it, just defending my fellow Whiners.
Quoted from DNO:I'm glad it shoots without issue, but many of them do not, and perfect shots that brick and reject right back to the drain are reasonable complaints IMO.
I see no evidence of "many" Prem/LE pins having this issue. More pinside hyperbole. Hundreds of pin reviews for the Prem/LE and Pro show the Prem/LE rates notably higher than the Pro.
I also have access to both the Pro and Prem/LE locally play both with some regularity. I've seen no significant issues with the LE/Prem ramp. As mentioned many times before, the right ramp on both the Pro and Prem/LE will airball earlier than the left ramp on the LE/Prem and yet no one complains about that ramp. One sees some Pro owners mention the left ramp all the time on Pinside.
If one wants less BG ramp bash toy use in the Prem/LE game, there should be a setting in the software to make it used less / harder to qualify for.
Quoted from Rensh:Saw this first with a friends TWD and than checked mine. The popbumper hits the metal post in front of it and slowly eats it away. Don’t think this can be adjusted or is it??
[quoted image]
I had the same problem and wasn't liking the idea of metal shavings on my play field. I took a dremel to the ring to make space for the post. I've been free of metal shaving dust for a year now.

...as it should! It is a better version of a great game.
Except that BG ramp.

Hey guys, I just noticed my lock down bar light isn't working at all. I checked it out, and all the connections are soldered nicely into place. I'm unsure how to solve this. Does this ever go out for anyone else, or am I just unlucky?
What a game. Now one of my favorite machines. The only wish is for a bicycle girl mode option where it goes from all ramps to bash toy to mix it up.
Stern gold on this one. I knew it was me and that this game was going to be great. Took the premium to finally convince me. So glad I gave this a chance. Code is stellar.
I'm also doing a hybrid soundtrack that mixes in some custom music but keeping a lot of the call outs stock since they tore very well to the game. Will pay when I'm done
20181117_132644 (resized).jpgCan anyone help me with the fish tank topper. I've had the pin for awhile and am just getting around to installing the topper. I have the unboxing directions but not the wiring. Says sheet 77-7517-00 for wiring instructions. I have seen the video and it seems I am missing the blue and white part of the harness. if someone has a part # for the connectors or schematic or even a close up picture. Thanks
I’m not sure what the blue and white part is.
There are 3 connections to make on the boards and 2 splitters. The small connector with orange wiring goes to the new board. The other two go to J6 and J7. You remove the connectors that are there and plug in the connectors that have the same color codes.
Then you use the male to male connectors to attach the connectors that came off the board to the harness.
That sounds confusing written out but it’s just a Y connection from J6 and J7 to the topper. In the pics it’s the 2 connectors to the right of the board and the 2 that are dangling in space.
Thanks for the pics, I am still a little confused. I watched this video and @ 4:40 he shows the 5 connectors
and this is a pic of what I have , I am missing the color coded blue and white and just trying to figure out what I need to order or get made up. Thanks again for any help.
20181118_082033 (resized).jpgOh ok. You are missing the 10 pin “Z” connector. I did a quick search and couldn’t find a 10 pin available. Marco and pinball life sell them but they only have 2,4, and 6 pin versions.
Since it’s a stern factory topper, I would call 1800kickers. I bet they will have them on hand and would send one out for free.

EDIT
I just looked at the pic again and you’re missing the whole harness and a Z connector.
There’s a second harness with 2 connectors on it like the one you have.

does that come down from the topper itself or "jump off" the other connector? i have 8 wires coming out of the topper. , 4 orange, 4 purple

That is correct. 4 orange and 4 purple from the topper.
I understand what you mean by the blue and white connectors now.
Where does the 5th orange wire from the connector that attaches to the new board go? It should go to another connector that goes to J6 I believe that is the blue connector

ahh, i see it, it was wrapped around the harness and is not connected to anything. Can you tell me how and where that should attach? there is only 1 wire to that blue connector? looks like that is the 12v wire
20181118_094707 (resized).jpgThanks, Looks like that orange wire goes to pin1 on J6. My topper must have been built @ quitting time on a Fri.! You guys are great, its been driving me nuts and I hadn't even noticed the orange wire wrapped up along the harness. Now I need to track down a 10 pin connector
Yes, thanks. I watched that over and over and that's how I discovered I was missing the Blue to white connector. and also written directions! Thanks again for all the help

That orange wire connects to the missing blue connector. The rest of the wires between the blue and white connector are just pass through wires.
I would still call stern. I bet they would make you the harness. I had a connector issue like this with a replacement playfield and they made me a custom harness to fix the issue.

You may find the following PDF helpful in your wiring task for TWD topper.

thank you friend. I have a question, is this measure centimeter or inch? Thank you
from above inside the barn you can see that they are flat screws. I would like to know the width of the original screw
Hi,
My drop target bank is not working properly.
Sometime when I hit the all 3 targets, they do not go up back.
Opto seem to work in test .
Any idea?
Thanks
Not that this hasn't been beaten to death over the years but f*ck that SDTM drain from the Prison Magnet. Nothing worse than playing a helluva ball only to have the game drain you for no reason other than to be a b*tch. I'll take all the drains from all the bricked shots that I make but god damnit...
k...back to your regular programming...
If I update to the newest version (v1.60) of the code, do I need to do an update to my ColorDMD as well? I'm still on v1.56.

Yes, you should update both.
Quoted from monkeyboypaul:Yes, you should update both.
Thanks monkeyboypaul. I actually just checked the ColorDMD website and found the update supporting v1.60. I should have looked their first.

Whenever that prison magnet grabs the ball I have a moment of anxiety.
I would LOVE a 3 second ball save option. Maybe even a 1.5second ball saver would cover those drains. It happens so fast!

Agreed, a 1 or 1.5 second ball save would make all the difference in world... at the end of the day though I don't have a problem with it, the game is hard, I feel like I get as many drains SDTM coming out of the pop's that are beyond my control as I do from the Prison magnet.

I think this is the fatal flaw of this game.
When you have no control over a part of a game, and it generally leads to a drain, it totally ruins it for me.
I've had amazing games going that come to an end from a magnet drop.
Just deflating.
Metallica just got a code update after 2 years. Hopefully Lyman will revisit this one and address the issue.
A ball save (like they put on GB scoop drains) would be great.
Quoted from Maken:Just double flip to pulse the magnet when the ball is being held. It rarely sends it SDTM if you pulse the magnet.
I ALWAYS double flip to skip the animation and it still drains down the middle.
Quoted from roar:I ALWAYS double flip to skip the animation and it still drains down the middle.
Mine too. I've tried double flipping, single flipping, hitting the flippers about 300 times and I still get SDTM drains about 20% of the time.
I'm in for a 1 - 1.5s ball save. Who's going to start the petition.
Maybe you are double flipping at the wrong time. I double flip at when the animation shows the crow bar hits the zombies head. This pulses the magnet and the ball MOVES. If the ball doesn't move, you are missing the timing and get ready for SDTM!

I feel like this is as effective as not doing anything. You just don’t know(at least on my game) what’s going to happen.
I was able to fix the SDTM drains from the pops. Besides a ball save, or turning the magnet off, I don’t know how to fix this one.
I have thought about rotating the magnet 90degrees to see if it would toss the ball to the side or forward instead of down. Having it work like the doc ock magnet (tossing the ball toward the prison doors) would be fantastic
Setup your games a little steeper, this way the ball 'hangs' a little lower from the core of the magnet after the initial grab and may create more momentum when it's pulsed.
I agree with everyone on the flipping before the magnet releases.
My pro always drained sdtm off the prison magnet until I read about doing this with the flipoers.
However I noticed the magnet was slightly lower than the playfield the other week.Took the Assembly out and got that loctite nut off.
Put it back in the game, adjusted the height and now instead of sdtm drains it now throws the ball towards the prison.
It is like its turned 180 degrees throwing the ball.
I got one of the last premiums before they stopped making them and it never drained SDTM from prison from day one. Not sure if they fixed the issue or what/why but it's great not to have it happen, changes the game completely compared to most others i've played.
My crossbow having the ball get stuck right before it loads is completely other story though.
