Neither scenario is really practical for the average Joe....the remake has a complete different board set and wiring from the original. If you want to keep an original with bad cabinet and playfield you can source a new cabinet and paint and decal it. You can get a new playfield but you have to do a playfield swap. Lots of work and about $2K in parts. Before the remakes that’s what people were doing....repair the old cab where possible can save a few hundred. Unless you just want to do this much work and spend a lot of money best bet would be to sell this as a project and put it towards a nice original that already has the work done.
