I use a ultrasonic cleaner. It works really well on metal and plastics as well!

ultrasonic cleaners are available at harbor freight for 70 or so. it a water with cleaner based solution and then the whole thing vibrates at ultrasonic frequencys. They use em at the dentist alot.

the US only cleans. for metal i hand polish afterwards.
plastic post clean up real nice in like 10 minutes or so , so its super fast
also i keep mine inside so i dont have to be in the garage. its like 108 out today bleh...
