Quoted from Sparky:They are made. I've been out of the US on vacation for three weeks, so we took them off-line. They should be back up this weekend after I return.
"Woo hoo!!!"
- Homer
Just joined the club. After many moons of searching I finally found this dope example of a pinball party. Under 800 plays, not a scratch or speck of dirt to be found. Just got it waxed up, new rubbers all around just for kicks, and a new set of balls on board. She's a shooter.
I've ordered a few protection mods already and am eyeballing quite a few others. Give me a few months on this machine will be fully decked out.
I'm just happy to be here. Thanks for having me!
Finally got her all dialed in. Complete set of Comet GI with and ledocd on the field. Put in the Beer can, the I & S TV, the treehouse, lighted moes sign, all the decals one can find including comic book guys t-shirt, and all the protectors everywhere. Safe to say this game is fully decked out. Plays like a dream too. Yup, I'll be keeping this all the days of my life. Too bad it's impossible to do it justice with pics.
The Lisa and Maggie figures look great. And the bus too. On the prowl again, lol. Not a fan of the alien mod as it isnt the correct aliens! Ya know! For 75 bucks is it too much to ask for an actual little kang in the saucer!?
I like the cotton 'steam' idea but it looks like shit when I do it. The side art is a must too. All five stickers though I'm not head over heels about the speaker panel one. I did just order the parts to make some slick color changing buttons. I hope it's never truly finished.
I'm with ronaldvg... Never have too many thangs attached to a tspp. I mean.... It is an effing party.
Quoted from Mrawesome44:My simpsons is about to be powedercoated
Tell me more about this powder coating. Is it difficult to tear down for such a job? seems one would be left with a legless pinball machine sitting on the floor for a week. What are the costs typically? That yellow looks damn sharp.
Quoted from Da-Shaker:I really like the pink captive ball idea and the 3 eyed fish
+1 three eyed fish. Uh hum... This one?
Look at this on eBay ebay.com link: itm
Cool! Thanks for the eBay link sparks!
Also, I'd like to add, the ledocd is nothing short of astonishing. I'm doing another table in high end Comet stuff, the no flicker ghost etc bulbs tomorrow to compare. I shall report back.
Don't think you'd find many who'd argue your synopsis t-800. ?
On another note, to pat ledocd on the back a bit more, I installed Comet Flux leds, ya know, the expensive af ones, in my avengers table today. While the result is mildly put, bad ass, compared to incandescents, especially in the GI with comets op-max bulbs, there is still yet that certain something which screams led. Conversely, on the tspp with ledocd, if it were not for the pure and eye poppingly bright color, one wouldn't suspect led at all. And so it goes. Hands down, on I'd reckon any game, ledocd is the absolute must have shiz. There. Glad I got that off my chest.
Someone please correct me, but I believe that's where the ocd comes in. The preset values are good, but one can tweak them as they see fit and someday achieve perfection.
Quoted from Sparky:Blinky and Mr. Burns figures
Hey sparks, quick question, how are you attaching these toys? I glued Blinky to the nut but it doesn't survive a single game. Ruint the third ball of a high score round. Doh!
I see! Ya know I considered that, but wasn't sure how it would look. The way you've presented it is perfect. Natural. Expected. Thanks!
Had this dream where I was playing my TSPP and noticed as I made the couch ramp that there was a true to the couch gag doorway with a Homer having smashed through it attached to the bracket above the ramps switch. I bet someone with a bit more imagination could actually make something like it, ah hem, Sparky. It looked pretty rad.
Has anyone decided what the absolute best speaker upgrade for the backbox is? Brand and fitment wise.
I actually just rounded up the goods to make a dozen. I'll share them with you guys when I get a chance to make them up.
I just figured anything was better than the stock paper cones. But ifn it ain't it aint...
Anyone got a coupon code for colorDMD?
Quoted from D-Gottlieb:If you want to spend the money, I won't stop you. Personally, the money would be better spent on a Colordmd.
A good idea is a good idea...
Quoted from Sparky:This club has been quiet for a while.
In collaboration with Joe Zenkus of Random Pinball, I just added the 4th TSPP mod to my shop, as well as available at mezelmods.com.
If you've been pleased with the TV, Treehouse, and Lampstand, you'll be very pleased with In Rod We Trust Flasher Dome Replacement (name the episode).
Comes with a green wedge flex led flasher.
$45 in my Pinside shop or Mezelmods.[quoted image][quoted image]
It has been quiet. Guess that's what happens when a game just always works and is nearly perfect as it sits. I appreciate the heck out of you always making new stuff. Whata guy.
Not at all bud. I did mine, playfield in. What helps is a friend to hold one end while slowly progressing. It looks way worse than it is.
No ball save? Factory or harder settings? Open outlanes? You guys must be far better players than I.
Quoted from cjchand:Main areas of wear are the shooter lane (just like any other pin) and the Itchy and Scratchy hole. I&S hole looks decent, but not perfect. Nothing to worry about from what I see.
Common issues are:
* Couch weld fix needs to be applied (will have issues with locked balls on the couch, search the thread for details)
* VUK switches (far back left corner to put ball onto upper playfield, I&S hole) going out
* Cracked ramps, especially the garage ramp
* Cabinet wear, which is unavoidable given these were direct printed. Lollypops and wear around the Start button are really common.
None of those are deal breakers and all are fixable. Definitely recommend getting the Cliffy set b/c of this machine's plastic ramps. While alot of the parts are still available, the ramps are getting hard to come by.
But, looking quickly through the pics, there's nothing that jumps out at me. It's amazing how well the playfields on this machine hold up compared to modern machines.
This is a machine that screams for a ColorDMD. Money well spent, IMHO.
I've also got a PinSound board in mine. There's two custom mixes out there by scandell and baptiste, both of which have tons of callouts (not to mention ditch the 8-bit stock callouts).
Hope that helps!
LEDOCD is also a must on this title. Js.
