I just joined the club last night! This game is incredible. One question: while I was playing last night, I had two balls locked on the couch and started Itchy and Scratchy multiball. At some point, I did something and managed to start couch multiball without locking another ball on the couch. Is that possible in-game, or do I have a couch switch that needs adjusting?

Quoted from Acronymicon:

Maybe the Mystery Award, which you get by making the garage shot, awarded a lock?
Congrats on the game! Love mine.

Ah, that would make sense! And thank you! I can already tell I might as well bolt this one to the floor.

As stated by another pinsider you can get a lock via a mystery award but I didn't realize that you could actually commence the couch multiball without the final ball hitting the spot on the couch. Maybe someone else can confirm whether the "final lock" can be awarded or whether you always have to earn it.

I think I had a glitch, either switch or software related (running 4.0, my 5.0 chips are in the mail). The machine was originally set up to leave balls on the couch in between games, and it started losing the ball occasionally when there were one or two balls on the couch. I've since changed the settings so that locked balls drain between games and I haven't had any issues since.

That makes sense.
Are you potentially losing balls from the couch because the couch metal part is broken? Mine did that until I found a way to repair it.

I'll have to investigate that; nothing appears broken, but I also didn't take the couch apart. All of my previous experience is with '80s era games so Simpsons is still a little intimidating!

The beauty of TSPP: I had been playing really poorly for three straight days and I was getting pretty frustrated with the machine. I decided to play one last game and then shut it off for the night. The first half of the game was going pretty poorly, then I managed to start a new TV mode and also complete Homer's Day by shooting the couch -- which happened to be the last ball needed to start couch multiball. Then I started Itchy and Scratchy multiball, so I had four balls in play while shooting victory shots. I ended up with 56 million and change, my new Grand Champion score. I've only had the machine a couple weeks and I still haven't even seen Alien Invasion and Mystery Spot. This is definitely one of the best machines I've ever owned.

I just got within one shot of starting Alien Invasion for the very first time and I flubbed it and drained. I literally threw my hat on the ground like a degenerate gambler at a horse track. I felt you all should know this.

I started Alien Invasion for the first time tonight! Didn't come close to completing it, but man, it gets the heart pumping.

I just got my Comet LED kit with the LED OCD board. Can someone tell me if the LED OCD board is plug-and-play, or is it necessary to download the software? I have a Mac, so I'd have to harass a buddy to download it for me. I'm not looking to do anything fancy like adjust a specific lamp to 73% brightness, I just want everything to work properly, including the pulsing lamps when you're about to start a mini-wizard mode. Thanks!

Plug and play. No software download needed

Right on, thank you!
