You can use alligator clips for the sub. Less permanent solution.
Quoted from Reidyb3:How would you connect the sub? Simply solder to the existing cabinet speaker? Was researching a sound upgrade for my TSPP just yesterday.

Yes. Positive(red) is closest to front.

Go colourdmd. Looks great on TSPP - made for it.

Thanks guys! Will head over to Color DMD for a new one.

I had the same problem with mine, and i change for a color DmD... No regrets!!!
These have sold very well over the last year and a half (close to 150 sold!), but I only have three left, and I won't be making more. If you've been on the fence about getting one, or you just recently purchased your TSPP, now is the time! You can pm me with any questions. Buy from my website ( sparkypinball.com) or mezelmods.
Quoted from Sparky:Thanks all! The remaining three have sold.
Ooops! Spoke too soon. A customer accidentally ordered two. One still available.

I can't imagine who would be dumb enough to do that. Oh wait!!

Where do those nuke lollipop rails come from?
The previous owner had installed them; it looks like PBL has them:

Sounds like they have limited stock remaining.
Quoted from JimB:I just ordered one, maybe the last one?
Yep! Now they are officially sold out! Thanks!

Boo - I need one! If anyone has an extra they aren't using, I'll buy it.
To everyone: what's the closest you have ever gotten to SDMEWM (or have you been there)? I just played a game where I was 1 or 2 super jackpots awaynand died. Bummer but also a thrill to get so close.
Jack
What settings are you guys using? Factory or Home? Anyone know the difference? Surprised no ball save on either (except in multiball).

Jack
I don't even know how to get there.
Using Home/Tournament 3 ball right now. When I first got it I cranked everything as low as it would go, 5 balls and all. After about a month of pretty near daily playing we were getting to the point where we were abandoning games because they were taking too long. When Alien Invasion on first ball isn't unusual, the bar is set too low.
Quoted from jackd104:what's the closest you have ever gotten to SDMEWM
Closest I've been is everything completed, except missing a single super jackpot in couch multiball
Have completed all the requirements multiple times, just not all in that one perfect game. Only ever play in factory settings, even at home.
As I've now sold it, doubt I'll ever do it on site! (I did try to get it with the glass off before it sold, but it was just taking too long!)

Factory settings, other than it being on free play.

I'll be the first to admit that I never remember what an acronym over three letters means.
Little help?

Super Duper Mega Extreme Wizard Mode.
Never really come close myself. Can't seem to ever beat Alien Invasion, and have maxed out at 3 super jackpots. Technically, I think the closest I've come is completing Secret Stash, Mystery Spot, and Daredevil Mania in the same game. Three of the six requirements, but definitely the easiest of the three. That was with (I think) standard stock settings and outlane post positions.
Recently opened up the outlanes as much as possible, went to 5 ball games, and put every setting as easy as possible, but the only real effect was that games now take forever to complete. Still can't finished off AI, and I'm still garbage at super jackpots.
Ah yes, I did read that but I've never done it. Best score (104M) was due to an alien invasion (that was not completed) and the mode with the reverse flippers (again not beaten). I've got to read up and devise a strategy instead of just winging it.
Quoted from TKDalumni:Anyone have a link to a rulesheet?
Here's one by Bowen.

Owned nib since 2003, never beaten AI, farthest I got was 4 balls locked. My high score is 211mil on factory settings, including outlanes. I do, however, have one fixed score extra ball at 15 mil for guests.

Itchy and scratchy clear plastic protector and COLORDMD!

You have to get it from Pinbits.com and when I got mine it showed as out of stock for months. I tried sending them a email and even a pm here on Pinside asking if they'll get more in, but never got a reply. I ordered the metal one and put in the comments if they could send me the clear one if they have have or can make one. Sure enough they sent me the clear plastic one. Was tough to get in a way but worth it in the end.
I just checked and they have them in stock on the web site so you should have a way easier time getting one.

Check with indypinhead- I ordered a full set of TSPP plastic protectors from him that were quite nice. I believe there's a dedicated thread for them.
Hello all, I'm a new member of the club. Question about the upper playfield mounting: There are three (3) posts that support the upper playfield. The rear post on my playfield has two (2) washers on the threaded stud, forcing the rear of the playfield to sit a little higher than it would without them. Is this something a previous owner added, or did Stern use washers to lever the upper playfields? Seems like Stern would design the playfield to sit level on the support posts without the need for washers as shims, so it seems like those washers shouldn't be there to me. I thought I'd ask before pulling them out.
Thanks in advance for any info.
Quoted from indypinhead:Yes,
I have the protectors ready to ship, if anyone is interested.
That's with the Itchy and Scratchy hole protector? I thought that was just a Pinbits thing that even Cliffy doesn't make.

No....I make protectors for the playfield plastics. (as well as a lighted Moe's sign mod)
Quoted from Rum-Z:Is this something a previous owner added, or did Stern use washers to lever the upper playfields?
Mine has no washers on the posts supporting the upper playfield.
Quoted from scottslash:Mine has no washers on the posts supporting the upper playfield.
No washers here either. Upper playfield would/shouod be same level as lower playfield. Sounds like a previous owner was trying to make the couch shot harder by jacking up the top of the upper playfield?

My mistake; I originally thought you were talking about protectors for the I&S plastic itself. Is damage in this area a common issue on TSPP? Mine looks like it's in good condition.

That particular plastic seems to get broken quite often. It's also HUGE.

I'm curious on people's reasoning on clear plastic vs the all metal one. I've been meaning to order one for mine... My I&S saucer is still minty fresh (although it looks like the playfield was routed early on a Monday by somebody who may have had a rough weekend - I've seen smoother ones for sure) but I'd like to get something on it before that's no longer the case. I've gone back and forth a couple times on which one to get.
Oh, another vote for indypinhead's plastics protectors. I was a bit on the fence but at ~$50 vs ~$180 for replacement plastics, it seemed like a sound investment. Plus, they really look nice and are very easy to install.
I also really like this machine with LEDs but don't even think about doing the inserts without an OCD board. GIs and spots are a cheap starting point.
I think the clear ones are preferred because they do the job, but you really can't tell they are on. You still see the bare wood and it just looks nice and clean. I have the metal protector on the playfield in the drop target cutout.

Everyone seems to like my protectors.

I got the clear one cause mine still looked new. If it was all worn and chewed up I would have gotten the full metal one.
First post on pinside... Tspp club.
