Thought of that.
Decided to go this route instead.
Joe is checking with those at Stern to see if they still have some info on this piece.[quoted image]

It's cool to have the inside connection on parts like that. Would be interesting to see if they know what it'd take to restore the way Homer was supposed to work before potential legal issues squashed it (possible patent infringement with Rudy from Funhouse).

Does anyone know what is supposed to be where the circled hole pictured is? I don’t seem to be able to find any pics showing a post there or anything

Topper is kid robot stuffed animals but really well made and look perfect on top. Going to add lights to them.

Did you redo the cab decals as well? They look great! Mine are faded as F.

No original in great condition. Why I got it.

The originals were faded by design.

Putting LEDs into my pin. Everything was going well. Stopped for the day. When I turned the machine on today the spotlights didn’t not work. Everything else is working and lighting great. Spotlights worked yesterday.

Could it be a fuse? Any other ideas?

#6861 1 year ago

Should have checked first and posted second…it was a fuse. Sorry for the wasted post.

I install the OCD board in all my games.

I went with non-ghosting LEDs. Board makes a big enough difference over that? Easy to install the board?

I’m also considering getting a color display for TSPP. Any experience with that? LCD vs LED…ease of installation, etc.

The LCD seems popular cause lots like the cartoon look it can do. I personally think it looks aweful and went with a LED and love it.

I agree! The LCD with the rasterizing of the graphics looks like garbage. I bought an LCD but I wish i would have saved a few bucks and went with LED because I just run it in dot mode.

LCD all the way. I tried an LED in this game and it was a huge mistake that I took out within minutes of installing. All of the animation is cartoonish, the LCD emphasizes that and looks the best.

LED OCD is also a major upgrade. Not only does it help with ghosting but it makes your game's lights act the way they were designed to by fading on and off. I highly recommend!

Agreed - My first one had LEDs and did not know what I was missing until I got one back into the house that had the board... so much smoother on light transitions.

Only note on the color DMD - make sure you have your ROM upgraded to 5.0, otherwise it won't work.

Install is simple.

LED's are an instant on, instant off. For many, it's a little too harsh. With the board, the LED's act more like incandescents. It's a gradual on, gradual off. Some call it smoothing.

You really need to see one in action to appreciate it.

Joined the club this week - got a good deal on a machine in good shape, given that it was routed from new until relatively recently. This was a grail game for me, so of course I had to sit it next to my other grail.

pasted_image (resized).pngpasted_image (resized).png

I've got a question though - is it normal for game volume to progressively increase during multiballs? I've never noticed that in other games. I don't just mean "lots of music and call outs at once sound loud", I mean it seems like the volume literally raises a TON, then noticeably drops when multiball ends.

Assuming that's normal, is there a setting or adjustment for that? I keep pins at a normal volume because my wife usually hangs out in the same room, watching TV or playing video games. The volume doubling on a machine while she's enjoying something else might be annoying!

Congrats! Yes the game does that. I think it is only under certain modes and not every single multiball. I know Alien Invasion mode has a higher volume for sure. And maybe when you stack two multi balls with doh frenzy. I kind of like this about the game but understand your problem. I don’t know of a setting. Root around in your menu or consult the manual (available online as a pdf I am sure), there is always a section about the feature and game adjustments.

Another option is to add a headphone Jack from pinnovators or some such. It’s not hard to install and playing pinball with good headphones is pretty awesome.

Good to know! Stacking two multis with doh frenzy is exactly the scenario I was in too. A headphone kit is good thinking, may take that route.

There is a setting for that. I think it’s called ‘dynamic volume effect’ or something.

Does anyone have any pics of the bottom? Particularly near the ball exit to the monorail and the lights hook up there

Has anyone had experience with the board with nonghosting LEDs?

On my first TSSP I did non-ghosting kit from Comet. I then added OCDLED later on to test and see if there was a difference. Adding the OCDLED did not make a difference at that point so I removed it. Later on my 2nd TSSP (HUO 100% original) I bought the comet kit again but in 2SMD regular LED’s. (If you buy the kit you need to tell them you want regular 2SMD LED lamps for the kit vs the non-ghosting). When installing the OCDLED box on my second go-around it was a perfect combo and also much brighter than the 1SMD non-ghosting kit.

So the trick is to plan ahead. I recommend LEDOCD box and 2SMD regular LED combo. I did the same set up on my Avatar and it has the nice soft transitions that regular bulbs have. Very noticeable for this era of Stern pins.

Still some tweaking to do before I can play it.

The donuts aren’t from a figure set. They are sold by Pinball Haus as part of their flipper toppers. I decided to use them as a stand alone mod

I feel the original sticker stating to hit the garage to get to the living room was more useful than just a Kwik e Mart sign, particularly for new players

Does anyone happen to have a source or knowledge about the yellow and red Stern coin door stickers? I can't for the life of me find any reproduced or NOS for sale. I'm wondering if they were unique to TSPP. You can see the little tear in mine - unfortunately there's a bit of a dent associated with that tear. IF I can get a replacement sticker, I'd like to fix that dent and have the door re-coated some day. If I can't find the sticker, I'll live with the dent. I love that the colors go with the cab.
