Quoted from Johnbeatle:

Ok not sure what I'm looking at. I've done some simple modding and led swapping but not much work with wiring. I looked up y switch for simpsons on Marco and I'm not seeing what I expected. I see this little guy next to the eject assembly. Is that what you're talking about?[quoted image]

That switch died on my TSPP, I don't think I had to pull the whole coil assembly to swap it out. The wiring was kinda tight on mine making it more difficult to resolder the wires, so while I had it apart I extended the wiring so I could get better access to the switch for future replacements.

Mine was fixed after some cleaning (pushing the switch manually a few times and now it works great again) it just might be a bit of dirt.

Just installed the LEDOCD Damm it was expensive to get it shipped but what a difference it just look like an old school pin again. We didn't upgrade to LED but we had a older simpsons and the incandescent lights just look amazing I was missing that a bit on this pin but what a difference it make. Just default setting plug and play (after getting the proper manual) easy enough. Stick it on backbox and disconnect some cables and connect a few new ones and done.

Soon I need to cut up the simpsons play set to fit in the corner and add moe to the bar as well still thinking of to make him move a little bit. that would be so cool.

It there a very very simpel way to intercept the signals for the pinball machine gates so I can trigger my own mod to only light up when the ball travels via moes bar. (if that is not possible I just add a sensor to the system to solve it.)

Not sure if this was mentioned - but I purchased 1 or 2 spares of these switches just to have on hand. The last time my switch acted up (and I was ready to swap it out) I tried bending it up to make it activate with less of a hit and that solved my issue. I imagine eventually I will need to replace the switch though.

Does anyone know where I can track down some of the snap in playfield PF lamp housings?

Yup - just check out the couple versions they have - not sure if you need the diode version or not and they also have versions with and without the brackets.

I just got done installing a pinsound in my TSPP,
When I turn the game on this message continues to flash on the screen and the pinsound is prompting me to reset the game.

When I turn the game on and off the same thing happens. (Currently unable to play the game).

I’m trying to figure out if anyone had the same issue and if so how did you fix it.

Thanks

I’m a couple years removed from doing this but I believe you need to have updated sound roms. I could be wrong but I had V4 and needed V5 for it to work. Again, “I think” that was my issue

If you have v5 sound Rom’s I would just go back and redo all your connections.

#6811 1 year ago

Do you have the new sound files copied to the usb yet? It won’t start without them I believe.

#6812 1 year ago

I downloaded the sounds from pinsoud; I assumed they were the lasted version.

Can anyone provide a link to the most current pinsound v5 update?

This is most likely the issue

I believe the v5 shown on the startup screen there is the machine software version ( and that is the latest version), nothing to do with the pinsound board...do you hear the board start up? Usually a chiming sound....but yes go to pinsound, find the machine, download the version you want...copy to the the usb...the machine will unzip it and install it...pretty easy really....Good luck...

Hello I was wondering if this is a problem. When the righ tflipper button is activated, I'm hearing a faint hum through the speakers ,only the right button. When machine flips the right flippers automatically there is no sound. Anyone know what could cause this Thanks

#6816 1 year ago

Mine does this, I've grown accustomed to it. Like a warm fuzzy buzzy hug...

Very common on this game.

Joe Balcer sent me his personal game to perform an ultimate shop job.

Problem is Joe started tearing the game down before it got to me.

Anyone have a link to shop out pics?

Just picked one up and it's got some low quality sideblades in it.

Sillyoldelf's set looks great but doesn't look currently available.

Anyone have recs on some readily available side art?

How does a pinball designer let a game get into that state? You would they would know a bit about maintenance

Lost power to R rear main playfield flipper…wire disconnected. Where does this attach on the flipper switch stack?

simple enough to do....anything is better than those cheap paper cones on the originals...and I'll also second pinsound....

Keep in mind upgraded speakers will only get you so far since the sound roms are of limited quality.

I'm also not sure if Pinsound will help with the original sounds. I thought it was only to provide custom sounds in which case if you want to play the original game as intended it may not be a worthwhile solution for you.

Looking for a Bart,Homer, Marge, Lisa, etc. shooter rod. If anyone is making one using a family member, let me know. Thanks.

You can get the original sound set on the PinSound site and I'll say that even just using those with the onboard-EQ the PinSound board is a noticeable improvement.

But, agreed that it's not worth the cash if you don't intend to use one of the custom mixes.

Anyone have a source for the Homer head plate, plate #535-9198-00?

Or a way to repair it?

There has to be a lot of these in need of repair.

I still need help with installing my Bart captive ball piece
The post at the rear is part number 254-5000-15 as per the manual but it’s way too tall for the space at the rear pictured below
The manual has a terrible picture. I need to see this installed without Bart in there and I’ve looked through so many shopout pics it’s not funny
Number 8 as per the manual pic

Put a tack weld or two on the spot that should be flat, then use a dremel to shape it so it fits properly. The repair should last longer than the original since the weld filler (mig wire or welding rod) is harder than most non-hardened steels.

Thought of that.

Decided to go this route instead.

Joe is checking with those at Stern to see if they still have some info on this piece.
