Hi,just looking for some help with my display issue. For about 1 year when I first turned on my Simpsons Pinball party the display would show the game title and rom version. Then the display would go completely black for about 10 minutes before coming back on and displaying everything correctly. Now when I first turn on the machine it will show the game title and rom version and then go out and not come back on at all.I replaced the little power power board for the display, and put the display in my POTC and it works fine.I also reseated all the ribbon cables still not working.I'm at a loss, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I did reseat the connectors.

Does the MPU board have any alkaline corrosion?
Power is not the issue.
The issue is MPU to Dot controller communication.

Chris
Can you elaborate on the ''No communication between MOU to DOT controller'' ? (What is MOU?) How and what can i check to be sure that is my problem?
Of course ,if you would also know how to solve the problem that would be nice!
Very similar issue on my TSPP too...https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/tspp-2-problems
No corrosion on the board...

Thanks a lot!

Oops. Typo. Corrected. MPU to Dot Controller. I’ve fixed quite a few of these. There is a 74HCT273 that interfaces the 68B09EP to the plasma controller outputs. For whatever reason, that IC seems to fail on WhiteStar boards more than any other.

You could diode test it via the PinWiki procedure. But I’ve had that fail to indicate a failed IC.

I’ve seen corrosion on the dual headers cause the same behavior and corrosion on the dot controller itself too.

Those boards are not trivial to work on. I’d engage a pro before trying it yourself.
