Quoted from Bud:

It would be awesome to have the light strip fill the center all the way and bend off to the side. I know that would require a hole drilled about where the ramp flaps go but I’d be ok with that. If stock ramps were to be installed again the flaps would cover the hole.

Agree, but it would block the arrow and disc inserts.

Quoted from Lemank:

Amazing work Logan! I really dig the wire form ramps and light mounted underneath.

Thank you. This is the one machine I wanted to do the most because I had this idea of sub rail lighting below the ball. This single trail of light just look more like the light cycle trails. I had both other kits and each were great. But the lights look out of place looped around the ramps on top to me. If I had access to either kit (eli or total light show) i would have done the same thing putting the light to a single strip below the ball. I prefer the look of a single line of light and the only way that works is these new style channel rails. Side by side I hope you can see the visual difference. I only wanted to do wireforms to do lighting. The last step will be controlled lights.

I would look at the other benefit. How many people want or need Tron ramps because they are broken or damaged? I was in that boat up until I recently repaired my broken ramps. I am still contemplating getting a set of wire forms because they clear up playfield and the sound is sooo satisfying.

Great looking ramps. Where are you sourcing your EL wire and which size are you using.? Sorry if you mentioned this already.

Amazon. Meijaijai led flexable, waterproof led driven colored strips. They are single color 12volt powered lights. The pictures dont do it justice. The color and brightness is amazing.

The left ramp is way more complex. Been figuring out issues as the day went by. The biggest was the dukes of hazard jumps. Tweaking, adjusting and bleeding no good. Walk away and come back and All I had to do was add another guide wire to control bank velocity and exit. Works great now. I also wanted to try a different plastic to wireform transition. 2 hardened plates seem to work pretty well. I do not like the look of the right plastic entrance ramp. I had to cut a “v” to raise the ball from rail to ramp to eliminate stops.
If anyone has a better solution on transition from flat plastic ramp to wireform please jump in.

Play video of both wireforms in action i need to get flap screws and mount right flasher with a spacer, but it looks amazing.
I also need to make mounts for the light cycles..

I just picked up 12 foot sections of stainless rod to be able to make these wireforms one piece. I had to fuse 2 sections to make the first set. I also mounted both bikes on wire to mounting points in back area. I can include the smaller stainless rods which will enable you to mount the bikes where ever you want to in the back. I played it this morning and got to portal multiball. I have never gotten that far before. The rails are fast and smooth. I really prefer the look of rails over plastics. I will need to make 3 sets of these to get a average labor time for pricing. It will be a few weeks, but I will get there.

Splitting alot of time with Mandalorian orders and trying to get back to finishing star wars pro ramps and wireforms design. I finished the right side, just need to do left. And I want to try another channel to hold lights using stainless plate. I got a cnc plasma table and I think I can do some cool stuff with it. I also got a customers time machine in my garage for wireforms. Busy, which is great. I will get the work load more balanced soon including tron. I need to learn the cnc software to try the channel idea. Instead of more wireform below, I want to see what stainless plates as a channel would look like over the extra wireforms. I think the look is worth trying and it also would hide the sides of led lighting. I see it in my head, I just need to nail down the cutting software as stainless plates are not cheap!

Heres pictures of the star wars pro in progress. The rail is inspired by the light bars on playfield art. I made the metal ramp with bent rods as a guide for the plasma cutter. Once both ramps are made I can then measure and program the machine to mass cut pieces that I just weld together.

Quoted from Lemank:

Keep up the hard work!

Thanks! I am trying alot of things at the moment.

I'm getting ready to tear down my Tron to install the Eli kit and the 86 Pixels back panel kit. Will give this strong consideration. Would be a whole lot easier to thread fiber through a channel instead of drilling a bunch of holes.

Unobtainium ramps are staying with the machine. I have no plans to put them back on, but if I sell or trade the game some buyers are very picky and would want them back on.

The hard part of adding wirefoms to machines like Tron is the inserts are right at entrance points. I want to improve the plastic entrance ramps over what I made for these. They are working as they are, but I want them to be better. I am struggling to come up with a solution that improves them and does not cover the inserts. I made long stainless ramps for star wars and they look and perform great, but I cant do that here...
i could do stainless ramps here, but I would have to figure out a solution to the hidden disc and arrow inserts...
Currently working on a Led Zeppelin and Mandalorian scoop and wireform mod. I am hoping a solution comes up for Tron in the process. I need that eureka moment.

Following, but i doubt i could afford the shipping unless us Anzacs did a group order.

I got the solution to all my projects today working it out on Mandalorian. Instead of ramps lifting the ball I have wireform lifting it. It works. I am taking a break but today was huge for me design wise...
I will make a different wireform set for Tron with this style soon.... It will be the same as this c ramp but straight. I am really happy today.

This is the scoop ramp next to right ramp on Star Wars. Hopefully you can see the idea. And a cut out metal flap will cover the the ramp flap cut out in playfield and wireform ramp will be on top.

I still need to add led light channel, switches and flashers. Whats better on pinball then that wireform sound. Quick video of left ramp with the new design.

Sweet! Are you still using the factory light pipe holes (where the light pipes pass through the playfield on the LE) for mounting locations? This style ramp entrance, if you don't use those holes, looks like it would allow LE's or even Pro's with the aftermarket lighting kit to still use the existing light pipe.

#81 1 year ago

It's ace. Looks like what DE was doing if my hazy memories of gone games is right. I really hope you work out a shipping option that we don't need a kidney to pay for for us OS guys. I usually dodge machines with plastic ramps.

I am still using the two holes to secure the front of these ramps. The wireform as it is now needs to be secure at the entrance to maintain position and tension on the plate. I can try alternative solutions on another set after these are completed. I want these to just be bolt ons without having to screw into the playfield as well. I will look into options after pinfest in May. I need to complete this and other machines to bring to the show, so I will know in a few weeks if it can be done otherwise.

Right ramp in progress. I will update this post as it goes.

Lower rail routed...

Larger ramp entrance requires a spacer and hammering flat spots with heat applied. This this solved the problem of the larger spacing between thecrails. It works!

Upper rail, return lane and back mounts.

I redid the left ramp to match the right side entrance design. I was able to use two through hole inserts that are stern installed by running a 3 inch screw from under the playfield to go to upper. I will make all sets mount this way leaving the light holes open.
Shipping will not be cheap in a larger box and bubble wrapped. These sets are almost 50 feet of stainless rods.
Finished the left ramp, I am sanding and polishing this one now. I need to finish right ramp later today. These ramps are very heavy on labor time. It takes 2 days to make them.

Finished. Minor tweaks left and then installing later.

Left ramp 1.4 pounds!
Right ramp 1.7 pounds!

3.1 pounds without the bubblewrap, box and led lights.

This might just be a one off for my machine. Labor cost will be the highest on anything I have built 2 full days in these. It takes an hour to sand, stone and polish them as well, plus test fitting. Not sure where the interest would be at a high price point.

Quick video of new design ramps. The runs are not adjusted and right drop also needs to be moved. I just was hell bent on a video!
I also want to open the tongue up a little on left ramp to match the right ramp performance. It needs to be a hair wider then it is now.

I will put a price on them once I have made all the adjustments and playtest the hell out of them. Once this set is finalized I can make a template board to build other sets.

Tron will be at pinfest in my spot with Guns and Roses. I want to bring my Star Trek Discovery machine, but not sure yet. If your following this and are at pinfest you really need to stop by and see the led lights in person and say hello.

Set materials:
$19.88. 24 feet of stainless rod.
$9.00 argon gas over 150 welds.
$44.38. (2) led strip lights
$4.25. Tempered plates

Roughly $78 just in building materials.
