Because most of them that exist were routed and beat up pretty bad and are nearly twenty years old. I have one that is considered “nice” for a TSPP...but it shows its age. Upgraded sound and nicer side art are needed.

TSPP is a great machine and a rerun would be welcome even by people that have one already like me. For various reasons (that I understand) the current Tron owners don’t want a Tron remake.

I wish Disney would show as much dedication to getting a new Tron movie out as they have with these roller coasters. One more movie is really needed in that series. I really enjoyed Legacy.

I think that whether Tron VE comes in 2019 depends on how well the newer cornerstone titles do sales wise. If sales are not strong and they need to supplement the line and have access to the Tron license (none of us actually know how their licensing agreement works, just speculation from everyone who hasn’t actually read one of their license agreements)...then we will see a Tron VE.

Ordering their old board sets for another run of anything is easy for them. This is not a barrier at all for them.

That would be a catastrophe. Stern got the “it factor” just right with Tron and the call outs from Tron Legacy were perfect for pinball. The world under glass is there for Tron, why mess that up with going back to the original movie?

If a VE comes, I wouldn’t mind a better art package but it needs to stay focused on the newer movie.

I think every other pinball manufacturer combined is somewhere between 5-10% of the total pinball market for NIB machines. Suggesting that any of them are close to or will be close to 20-30% of the market any time soon seems unlikely.

I think Stern is a manufacturer first and a pinball company second. They will make whatever keeps the line running. If they need a VE due to a disappointing conerstone title or no contract game or for some other reason they will run a VE. If they don’t need to look backwards to keep the line running they won’t. Just my two cents.

I’m not so sure Stern hasn’t let the window of opportunity pass by on the Tron VE. Two years ago I think it would have sold just fine, but I think the NIB market today wants games with the new display. I don’t know, I keep going back and forth on this.

As an upper playfield? How would that work exactly?

Well, I just bought a loaded Tron Pro last week, that means without question Stern will run the VE this year. So have no doubt gang, the VE is coming now.

My personal opinion: someone at Stern decided to have a little fun with Pinside by posting that photo. Perhaps they are trying to gauge demand in some way with a “slip”.

Star Trek VE was a disappointment for Stern. I’m not sure how enthusiastic they will be about VE’ing another DMD game. That said, Tron has the appearance of strong demand. Stern isn’t going to retro it back to the original movie, zero chance of that due to Daft Punk’s incredible music.

I don’t disagree with you but for whatever reason Stern picked Star Trek over Tron to vault and it disappointed in sales. By all reports, Spider-Man VE also disappointed in sales.

It is certainly possible Stern has ascribed the disappointing sales of their past two VE’s to the display. I’m not saying they are correct by any means...but hypothetically if it is case if they perceive the dmd as the issue with sales of the past two dmd games it won’t matter if they are correct or not...they won’t vault another dmd.

I had forgotten about AC/DC being vaulted again after Luci. Good point. Tron could use an art upgrade.
