There are 4 red recognizer flashers under the PF that keep on going out on me. Anyone else experience this? It's happened twice since I purchased the pin a couple months ago. The LED's I installed 4 weeks ago were new. I need to lift the PF and see if they just need to be reseated, however even if they are loose it's still a pain to have them go out after only 50 plays or so.

I'd check voltage, and then be sure the LEDs you put in there can handle it.

You are not talking about the 4 sockets mounted by the spinning disc? Those are just 555 wedges.

If they are PBL led's, sometimes the wire leads on the 555's are not exactly where they should be relative to how a 555 bulb is; I have had to fiddle with the wire leads coming out of them sometimes to get them to make proper contact; and even then have to adjust them occasionally if they get vibrated off the contacts of the wedge sockets.

Hmm...Stern manual says it should take a #161 bulb (14-Volt, .19 amp). I never "stock" #161 bulbs. I think I put #906's in there...shouldn't they work?

I replaced mine with flex 555's, and noticed that a couple had been "chopped" off with burnt tips - I guessed that they were hit with the nuts of the underside disc spinning. I know that they are called flashers, but still thought that they were originally just 555's with bulb covers, not flashers.

555's aren't the correct bulb. Sockets are spec'd for #161 (hard to find #161 LED's on the pinball websites). Found these on eBay...inexpensive and work great! Screen_Shot_2013-08-10_at_7.34.28_AM.pngScreen_Shot_2013-08-10_at_7.34.28_AM.png

I was just looking into this. CoinTaker recommended flex's. I might go this route if it works.
Although I havent seen a 161 to buy yet.

I installed the 161 bulbs above and they work great. flex's would work if they are spec'd for 12 Volt (161). If not, they will burn out fairly quickly.

I've been using these 9 LED ones from Amazon with no problems. Plus at 1.70 a bulb you can't beat the price.

I have used the following two LEDs from CT:

http://shop.cointaker.com/product.sc?productId=434&categoryId=8

http://shop.cointaker.com/product.sc?productId=1591&categoryId=8

For those four sockets, I prefer the SUPER 906 RED over the FLAT 8 RED FLEX 906. I have also read others having the LEDs ripped off due to the FLEX head getting caught in the motor.

Are you sure 906's are compatible with 161's?

I didn't think so, but I'm no expert...

Curious

Steve,

Technically they're rated different but they do work. I have them under the disk in my Tron and previously had 906s behind the lightning bolts in AC/DC (now replaced with PinBits lightning bolts), both without issue.
